It can be painful. Just found out that the one I shared as seen in front of my house belongs to SABI Networks, and not MTN.

I spoke with someone who recently got connected to the infrastructure that I shared the image earlier. The person made me understand that it was Sabi Networks. Then I took my time to research them online and called their office for more info

Installation Cost = N60,000
Subscription rates:
20mbps = N17,500
25mbps = N25,000
30mbps = N30,000

They offer half the speed that MTN offers at same amount of N25,000. Plus the one-time installation fee of N60,000. Not so encouraging
Their installation fees is more than 2 months MTN subscription for this service assuming one is going for 25Mbps

Exactly sir… it makes no financial sense to me.

Instead, I have been testing Airtel speed in a marked spot in my house where I can mount the Airtel ODU, while I await MTN FibreX to come to my street, because it's available on the street adjacent to mine.

My speed test results summary from fast.com and anspeedtest.net are in the snapshot attached

It appears as more people are subscribing to the MTN Fibre, the quality is reducing drastically.

I just want people to beware of engineers who demand a fee before showing up at your apartment. Even if you are going to tip at all, make sure it's after a job well done. Cos this dude below just took money from myself and a neighbour who wanted to get our individual installations, and he never showed up. He even said we should do our worst. I only requested that his account be blocked sha.

Here are his names and numbers
Ijaduola Ayobami Bamidele
0814 800 5673
0706 323 7876
0802 103 0955
this is good and I have screenshot this and I will make sure it get to the appropriate authority...now ppu should note this...this installers are now sabotaging the main purpose of this fibreX on a serious note paying and installation shouldn't take more than 1-3days now they are deliberately causing the delays because of the shortfalls knowing that even if the issue is escalated it will still take some time before it is being attended to now since no customer would want anything to do with delays they will now capitalised on by acting as if they want to assist that's when the money will now comes in...some will even tell you that the FAT they are to connect from is not powered...
Please and please you are not to give extra money to any installers unless you feel like giving them out of pity for the stress some of them might have gone through while installing for you ..MTN already pay them you are to provide ladder only for them and most times that comes with a fee probably from where they may get it from....

cant happen, the technology isn't like cellular networks where there is congestion.
fibre is just internet going through wires inform of light. The quality can't really reduce. If it does its more of a naija issue not general fibre issue.
Fibre is the primary way other countries get their internet, it's just now going mainstream in Nigeria.

Nope. Fixed at a spot, unless you’re within the range of your own WiFi.

I've just got this installed in Lagos. Ketu/Alapere area. Although the street is not listed on the MTN application, they installed the pole about a month ago. I saw a sticker on the pole with an agent's phone number and I reached out yesterday. She registered it for me and it was installed today.

So far so good. I'm connected via wifi but the latency is a kind of poor for fiber at about 120ms. Even worse than Starlink which I currently use. The download speed hovers around the 50 Mbps I paid for.

One issue I'm still facing is that none of the ethernet ports work. The indicator light on the router blinks but there is no internet. I've tried the cable that came with it and other with different devices. The router is a Huawei router

The installation is free.. you just pay for subscription, and an agent contacts you for installation.

The router is connected to the cable. The connection runs from a pole outside the house straight to the router.
Hi, I see from the picture attached to this post that there is an Ethernet cable attached to the router. Do you use it with any device? Does it work? And if it does, did you have to do anything other than inserting it?

I have the same router but wired connection doesn't work as I explained above

Exactly a single fibre cable has like 100x bandwidth than cellular

Your installation was done fast, mine that I paid for since last week Wednesday has still not been installed.
Pertaining your Ethernet cable issue it might be a setting within your router that is causing it.

Many people have been calling to know if MTN fibre X is live in there location because there are many connections from other companies that also look like it.

The first image is the picture of MTN Fiber X connection. If you see the first image, kindly contact me for onboarding and installation. Mind you onboarding and installation is free. You are only paying for subscriptions which depend on the speed you want.

The second image is the subscription prices. Just imagine getting unlimited data for as low as 25k at the speed of 50Mbps.

I was surprised when they called me the next day. Even MTN was surprised because they called me a day after it was installed to ask me to say the installation time might exceed their usual timeline of 7 days and to allow for up to 14 days. I had to tell them it had been installed already
Re: MTN FibreX - Installation, Speed Tests, Availability, And All You Need To Know by honourdan(m): 8:54am On Jan 22
Chaiii, I will wait and see how long it takes. Last last they will come and do the needful.
But come to think of it, if it takes long for installation then what will now happen if you have a problem for them to come and rectify, hmmm

Nice one, then maybe the installation time is location dependent.
Have you been able to figure out your Ethernet port issue on your router?

The Ethernet cable came with the package.. that was about the only thing that came with the package.

I connected the Ethernet cable to my TV. There are no issues, it has always been working fine.

If your wired connection has issues it may be an issue with the cable, have you tried with a different Ethernet cable...?
