Troops of the Joint Task Force Northwest, Operation Fansan Yamma (OPFY), operating under Sector 2, have recorded significant successes in ongoing counterterrorism operations across Kebbi and Zamfara states, leading to the elimination of suspected terrorists and the rescue of dozens of kidnapped victims.

According to a statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division Nigerian Army/Sector 2 OPFY, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, the operations were carried out in collaboration with other security agencies and local vigilante groups, reflecting a coordinated approach to tackling banditry and terrorism in the region.

In Kebbi State, troops acting on credible intelligence laid an ambush for members of the Lakurawa terrorist group near the border between Augie Local Government Area of Kebbi State and Binji Local Government Area of Sokoto State. The operation, which took place at Kerani Village, resulted in the neutralisation of two suspected terrorists.

Items recovered from the scene included two motorcycles believed to have been used by the insurgents. The suspects were reportedly dressed in camouflage uniforms, while the motorcycles were padded with thick blankets and fitted with equipment designed for long-range movement, including hand tyre pumps.

In a separate operation in Zamfara State, OPFY troops stormed Munhaye Forest, a known hideout of the notorious bandit leader, Kachalla Alti. The raid followed intelligence reports indicating that several captives were being held in the area.

The operation led to the successful rescue of 62 kidnapped victims, all of whom are currently in safe custody. Efforts are ongoing to reunite the freed victims with their families.

The Nigerian Army says these operations highlight the sustained commitment of Operation Fansan Yamma and its partners to dismantling criminal networks, restoring peace, and safeguarding lives across the North-West region.

This is the more reasons why every Governor must empower their local vigilante with the necessary logistics and fire arm.
The vigilante and Civilian Joint Task Force have really been helpful in the fight against Terrorism.

Kudo's to the Army and the Vigilante.

I will rather say these hostages were abandoned by those holding them captive in the heat of the battle rather than Nigerian Army rescuing them. The army is incapable of rescuing anyone. Let the truth be told
