This is type of thing NAFDAC is supposed to be working to prevent, but instead they focus more on brands, probably so they could extort bribes and kickbacks 😒, chasing local manufacturers and suppliers who copy powerful foreign brand names 🙁

I bought a measure of beans one day, and on getting home, I noticed that the beans had a strong rat poison smell. Looking closely, I observed that almost every single bean has silver-like patches which confirmed my fear that the beans may have been laced with a strong chemical to preserve it. I threw the beans away and stopped buying from the seller.

"I ran to an old woman within the neighbourhood, she said I could eat it. She even tested it. But I said I won't eat"

Why take this risk? What if something terrible happened to that woman? This is one of the reasons some people are in prison today, they made a terrible mistake.... Don't try that next time.

Tin tomato is also the same with sachet tomato, right?
I thought this is the best way to preserve tomato because it does not last long. That is why its mostly preserve in paste form(tin tomato).
Most of it isn't even tomato paste in full. It's mixed. Same with what companies do with Ketchup.

Go on youtube, you'd see tons of videos on this

let me tell you the Truth ehn!
your beans was bringing out kokoro (tiny insects) and it was sprayed with sniper mixed with kerosene to kill the insects and to stop them from damaging a whole bag of beans....
i would advice to always parboil beans before cooking
If u read the post well, you would see that I parboiled and washed it five times

Either the kerosene was intentionally used for preservation or it was transported alongside cans of kerosene.

The first question, are you using firewood and kerosene to make fire? The reason for the question is that when you light up the fire and you did not allow the smeĺl of the kerosene to quench before putting pot of water on the fire, by the time you finish cooking, the food will taste kerosene smell.
I use Gas cooker

Further to the above link, I decided against eating same beans yesterday.

I was in a rush trying to make that post yesterday, as a result, some details were left out.
— I bought two Mudus of Milk Beans. I had earlier bought two Mudus of Honey beans, but when I got home to cook the honey beans, I noticed it had no taste at all. The Beans is so Neat and clean, but no taste.
— As a result of its lack of taste, I decided to buy the milk beans. Believe me I hadn't heard of these names(Honey and milk beans) until Monday last week.
— While I was picking and winnowing the Milk Beans yesterday, there was no smell. But as soon as I began to cook it, the smell began to erupt. I washed it with cold water four times before parboiling. After Parboiling, i still washed it like five times, still the smell didn't go away..
— I ran to a male neighbour of mine and ask him if he had had such experience with beans, he said no. He advised I threw them away.
I ran to an old woman within the neighbourhood, she said I could eat it. She even tested it. But I said I won't eat.
I threw the parboiled ones away.
I returned the remaining ones to the woman who sold to me. She didn't give me back my money and I didn't want to start dragging with her. Though she promised to do so later.

A lot of food items have been adulterated in today's market. Everybody wants to make quick quick money at the expense of the other. Eating banana and plantain now is also risky, even Fufu(Akpu), Palm oil.

The situation is really bad.

Wow! They'll say, disease doesn't kill an African.

That's why I plant everything, even seasoning (Maggi & Norr) and salt; they are all in my farm. I eat only what I harvest.
You plant Maggi and Knorr huh grin

Kerosine has been one of the substance used to preserve beans, especially the brown ones called drum in the West.

I remember always perceiving kerosine in the beans we used to consume then.
