Moroccan Politician Accuses Senegal Of Dressing-room Ritual Before Díaz Penalty by richiemcgold(op): 9:27am On Jan 22

Moroccan politician, Mohamed Simou, has made a sensational allegation that Senegal performed “magic rituals” in the dressing room before Brahim Díaz took his penalty, DW Africa reports.

Senegal landed their second AFCON title after edging out hosts Morocco 1-0, in a controversial final on Sunday in Rabat.

The final degenerated to chaos after the Senegalese players walked off the pitch after Morocco were awarded a penalty.

Few minutes before the penalty call, Senegal had what looked like a genuine goal disallowed for a foul on Achraf Hakimi.

Real Madrid forward Brahim Diaz stepped up and saw his attempted Panenka effort saved by Edouard Mendy.

Although Senegal secured the AFCON title, Simou insisted the officiating raised serious concerns that should not be ignored.

Also, Simou called for referee Jean Jacques Ndala to be suspended and prosecuted for restarting the match after Senegalese players briefly walked off the pitch in protest over a penalty decision.

Maybe not ritual exactly but they did something in there and it ought be investigated. That walk-out was preplanned.

If you look at that towel stealing, I actually think they were doing that believing their opponents from West- Africa were using those towels as voodoo , so they keep trying to take it away from the post area, these people have their own way of thinking and behaving from what I feel..

You are right, Senegalese marabouts are powerful. during the 2002 world cup in Korea/Japan, one of the Senegalese players told Manuel Petit a French player before the match, that the Senegalese team would defeat the French team by a lone goal and that France would never be able to score because there was a powerful Senegalese marabout who would make sure it happened, and it actually happened.

During the quarter final match between Nigeria and Senegal at the 2000 afcon in Lagos, the Senegalese planted a charm close to their goal post and Nigeria was unable to score for about 87 minutes until a Nigerian went their to uproot the charm and Julius Agahowa for Nigeria scored a minute later.

Next time you teach your players to not attempt panenkas in such an important match. Diaz wanted to ridicule the Senegalese goalkeeper by scoring with a panenka but only ended up ridiculing himself.
