Once again the super eagles of Nigeria just lost a match not to one of the super powers in Africa like Ghana, Egypt, Senegal or Cameroon but to a lowly ranked team like Guinea-Bissau.

To make matters worse the team has the complement of all the top stars who are currently painting Europe with world class performance.

Needless to say the super eagles recently sacked Genot Rohr and after a brief spell with Eguaveon. The NFF hurriedly brought in Jose Pesiro as the new gaffer

But the question that has been on my mind is can Jose pesiro take the super eagles to the promised land?

This is because Nigeria's current problem is not about having the players because I can say, aside from the Golden Generation the class of 1994 to 1996. The players now are arguably the best Nigeria has ever had. But the problem is we need a good technically sound coach to blend this super stars.

Under Pesaro Nigeria has had the following result

Nigeria. 1. - 2 Algeria

Nigeria. 1 - 2 Mexico

Nigeria. 0-1 Ecuador

Nigeria. 0 - 2. Costa Rica

Nigeria 0 - 4. Portugal

And they have managed only two win against a team even Enyimba will trash

Nigeria vs Sierra Leone (2-1) and

Nigeria vs. Sao Tome and Principe (10-0).

And today Guinea-Bissau. Who we demolished few months ago at the AFCON came here in our backyard... Abuja to claim a famous victory beating us Nigeria. 0 - 1. Guinea-Bissau

If we go back memory lane on Jose Pesaro career we can say he is better than an Amunike

Jose Peseiro has a poor record as manager of national teams.

He was in charge for 17 games as the manager of Saudi Arabia, winning seven, drawing six, and losing four. That’s a win percentage of 35%.

He also failed to qualify the Arab nation for the 2010 World Cup.

For Venezuela, it was worse. One win in 10 games with six losses and three draws.

He was in charge during their disastrous 2021 Copa America outing which had the team eliminated from the group stage after two draws and two defeats.

He resigned in August 2021 over the non-payment of his salaries for a year.

I sincerely believe Nigeria deserves a better coach both at the super eagles and the super falcons level. We have all the materials ,( players ) but what we need is a good coach

Country of only 2million beating a country of over 200million with full complement of all our stars. Very shameful.

&to make matters worse, we had over 60 minutes of playing time to score but failed woefully.
Abeg S/Eagles problem is beyond coach.

Am really annoyed what's amaju brought upon us

Super Eagles coach used to be hot cake were world class coaches apply and lobby for, but this one was imposed on us like inec is doing now.

What is his pedigree?

What result does he have?

What input have we seen in 7 games?

Just like the super falcons coach.... Randy Waldrop....

Taking our super falcons job on part time bases .....kai how low have we stoop down.
Worse off Waldrop have been loosing matches for fun. When we have our ex internationals who are even doing better abroad and known the garden better

The coach is not the only problem majority of these present players should be shown the exit door they are not in any way a star the lines of Aribo should jason business with the super eagles he can’t step in the shoes of Sadio mane…….our players care not skillful enough to create clear cut chances like Kanu and jay jay ………even osazee in their days

You're talking rubbish. What does population have to do with anything?

Ethiopia are 100 million. China 2 billion. India 1.2 billion. But Equatorial Guinea, with a 1.5 million population, can beat everyone of those teams.

All over the world, when a team fails to perform, it is the COACH who is held responsible, not the players.

Nigeria cannot be different.

Whatever complaints you have about the team, it is the COACH who is PAID TOP DOLLAR to sort out those problems.

If he cannot do the job - and he has shown he is utterly useless - he should go, and go NOW.

The question is, can Super Eagles ever be close to the promise land if they had Guardiola as coach, Mourinho as assistant, Ancelotti, Klopp and Tuchel among the coaching staff?

Capital letter NO, I'm not a fan of Nigeria football, I support Brazil...

It is high time Nigeria should stop hiring foreign coaches just to embezzled fund, they should look inward, get their former ex international who are ready to work for Nigeria and train them and hire them, to manage the team...

All these foreign coaches, they are using it to embezzled fund...

Which promised land?

Nigeria will employ/vote someone that clearly lack capacity and be expecting an high profile performance. You appointed Peseiro and expecting a Zidanes performance. Voted Buhari and expecting Obamas performance.

He won't be sacked anytime soon because of the severance package clause in his contract of employment.

Super eagles will still fail because of the abominations in Aso rock.

It's practically impossible for any Nigerian to win anything in this current government.

Anthony Joshua already lost 3 times

Israel Adesanya already lost 2 times

Usman already lost 2 times

All our sport men and women are loosing

Fixed. You meant to say CAN'T, not Can.

And truly speaking, hearing Pinnick tell us that he was impressed with Peseiro because of how he could analyse our players using Wyscout is terrible and speaks much of his poor sense of judgment. I too can use Wyscout effectively and have used it to uncover a few good talents.

For instance, no one in the country knew about Gift Emmanuel Orban until I gave him a mention here on NL. The rest of the journalism world caught on later only after he moved to Gent.

My point is Peseiro may have scammed Pinnick with his Wyscout pitch but he clearly doesn't know our players well enough. His tactical selections say that much. He needs to go.

How much time has he spent with the 1st team? Has he built a 2nd team? as backup?

I don't think u can build any team without time especially a team that lacks cohesion and game patterns, style or play to instructions like Nigeria.

it will take a very technical but flexible coach to make a difference in a short time.
