eejo:Nigeria faces a compound risk trajectory. Rapid population growth, weak institutions, corruption, climate stress, and insecurity are outpacing economic capacity. Inflation, currency instability, and debt erode savings and businesses. Poor urban planning and land governance make property unsafe. Climate change intensifies floods, food scarcity, and displacement. Youth unemployment plus ethnic and religious tensions increase violence. When governance fails to absorb shocks, losses cascade—money, assets, and lives. Without structural reform, these pressures can converge into prolonged humanitarian crises, not suddenly, but gradually and relentlessly over decades. |

eejo:Communities are been sacked everyday especially farming communities. Gun men have grown to the level of seizing communities and demanding for ransom else, none of the residents will be allowed go to farm or they'll get killed in scores and homes and properties will be destroyed. The monies these terrorists demand are outrageously in hundreds of millions. If a farming population keeps giving out such amount to terrorists as plea against terrorism acts, they'll lose all their monies to these terrorists and still get caught in the wave of what they pay to avoid. A terrorist who collects such money will come back tomorrow for same. If terrorists can now boost on social media without masking faces as they do lately without intervention from security forces of the nation, it means the security apparatus is also totally crippled. And, if nothing is done as it always is, in 25years to come. Money, lives and properties would be gone in greater proportions resulting to a massive humanitarian crisis. |

eejo:Insecurity and Conflict Nigeria, especially in the northeast, has been plagued by prolonged conflict involving insurgent groups like Boko Haram and other armed factions. This violence has displaced millions, destroying homes, businesses, and farmlands, leading to loss of livelihoods and mass internal displacement. The ongoing insecurity disrupts economic activities, discourages investment, and causes widespread fear and instability. 2. Economic Crisis and Poverty Nigeria is currently experiencing one of its worst economic crises in decades, marked by inflation, unemployment, and currency instability. Agriculture, which employs over 60% of Nigerians and contributes significantly to GDP, is severely affected by insecurity and poor infrastructure. Many Nigerians are losing their businesses and savings due to economic mismanagement, corruption, and lack of economic diversification. 3. Humanitarian and Food Crisis The northeast region faces severe hunger and malnutrition, worsened by cuts in international aid and ongoing conflict. Millions are at risk of starvation as food production and distribution are disrupted. This humanitarian crisis threatens to escalate as more people lose access to basic needs like food, clean water, and healthcare. 4. Loss of Property and Displacement Armed conflicts and communal violence have led to the destruction of houses and properties. Displacement forces many Nigerians into refugee or internally displaced persons (IDP) camps, where living conditions are often dire. Loss of property and forced migration contribute to social instability and economic hardship. 5. Governance and Corruption Issues Weak governance, corruption, and poor policy implementation exacerbate the crisis. Resources meant for development and security are often misappropriated, limiting the government's ability to respond effectively. Lack of accountability and transparency undermines public trust and international support. 6. Climate Change and Environmental Degradation Nigeria faces environmental challenges such as desertification, flooding, and resource depletion. These factors further strain agricultural productivity and living conditions, compounding economic and social vulnerabilities. Potential Outcome Over 25 Years If these issues persist or worsen, Nigeria could face a prolonged humanitarian crisis with millions losing their homes, businesses, and lives. The crisis could lead to mass poverty, food insecurity, and social unrest on an unprecedented scale. This scenario would not only affect Nigeria but could have regional and global implications due to migration, security, and economic |

eejo:Many Nigerians face severe economic hardship, risking money, businesses, homes, and lives due to a combination of protracted insecurity (banditry, insurgency), high inflation, Naira devaluation, reduced humanitarian aid, and governance issues, leading to increased poverty, displacement, and food insecurity, potentially escalating into a severe humanitarian crisis if not addressed urgently by stabilizing the economy and resolving insecurity. Key Factors Driving the Crisis: Economic Instability: Inflation & Devaluation: Fuel subsidy removal and Naira devaluation have dramatically increased costs for food, transport, and energy, while wages haven't kept pace, forcing spending cuts and hardship. Household Strain: Families are struggling to afford basics, with significant reductions in household spending. Business Challenges: Unstable exchange rates, high operating costs (like generators), and macroeconomic instability hinder productivity and growth. Insecurity & Displacement: Conflict Zones: Insurgency (Boko Haram) and banditry in northern states (Borno, Adamawa, Yobe, Katsina, etc.) disrupt farming, displace populations, and create urban poverty as people flee rural areas. Humanitarian Impact: This insecurity exacerbates food insecurity, pushing millions to the brink of hunger. Humanitarian Aid Cuts: Reduced Support: Major international partners (US, UK, Netherlands, Germany) have significantly cut funding for humanitarian efforts in Nigeria. Increased Vulnerability: These cuts are worsening an already dire hunger emergency, leaving millions without essential food assistance. Governance & Systemic Issues: Corruption: Mismanagement of funds, including security spending, without tangible results, adds to the crisis. Lack of Stability: Insecurity and economic shocks make markets volatile, preventing recovery and increasing vulnerability. The Risk of a Major Humanitarian Crisis: Widespread Hunger: Projections show tens of millions at risk of severe food insecurity, a significant increase from previous years. Escalating Poverty: Rising costs and insecurity are pushing more people into poverty, particularly in urban centers. Systemic Collapse: The combination of economic collapse, insecurity, and reduced aid creates a "complex emergency," threatening basic needs like food, shelter, and healthcare for a large portion of the population. In essence, a perfect storm of economic mismanagement, persistent conflict, and withdrawn international support is eroding livelihoods, threatening businesses, and putting millions of lives at severe risk |

eejo:Because Nigeria is built on a weak foundation. Too many people, with no plans to manage all. no real production, bad leadership, corruption, and insecurity. No stable global system. Money, businesses, and houses depend on stability. When food, energy, and security fail, everything collapses. People will lose wealth, homes, and even their lives. The crisis will be slow at first, then uncontrollable. |

eejo:The combined pressure of rapid population growth, widespread joblessness, and extreme insecurity is destroying livelihoods and displacing people. Bad governance and tribalism prevent solutions, while collapsing health facilities leave the population vulnerable. Together, these factors will cause economic and social systems to fail, leading to famine and conflict on an unimaginable scale. |

I don't see Nigeria as a country in 25yrs to come except something is urgently done. First, the growing population of youths without availability of jobs is a menace that will blow this country up, Nigerians are very intelligent and can survive anywhere on this earth, this means that an average Nigerian always thinks outside the box positively. So when the population becomes much, everyone will be thinking of how to survive and trust me, this will become a full blown crises. Then our leaders are another problem, we don't have listening leaders at all. Countries that are way smaller than Nigeria always look for intellectuals to handle professional matters. Some countries even went to the length of organizing interactive sessions with citizens and promote shows that can citizens showcase their talents and ideas i.e America got talent.......... Coming to Nigeria, your ideas or talent will never materialize unless you know someone who knows someone in power. Access to our leaders is harder when compared to other countries in the whole world, arguably. Then the most important point above all is our non-functional social services which should be the primary responsibility of the government and leaders. The delivery of social services in this country is wack, lacking or non existent. From security to health, Food security to policing, emergency services to local production etc It's disheartening that we are still traveling abroad for medical reasons when we have the best doctors in the world. Call the police to a crime scene and they will arrive two days after the incident, your house on fire can only be helped by neighbors etc Lastly, the citizens can do better than currently, we are not always concerned about anything until we are affected, if a foresighted individual see a potential problem and wants to address it, there will be no support. We rather collect money from politicians and change the narrative or will not care at all. |

eejo:Nigerians would lose their money because of insecurity , even foreigners cant invest in the country because of insecurity and our government gains from this. Nigerias would lose their lives, even politician go outside for basic healthcare - meaning we have underfuctioning or chaotic healthcare in nigeria until we fix this death more death coming. Now nigeria is a very populated country, will our population increase or decrease over 25 years, you already know the answer. When there is overpopulation people would bees access to shelter , etc coupled with hunger and famine in the land. I fear for nigeria as nigeria would be filled with chaos if we dont regulate ourselves. Eejo |
