The cost of charcoal and gas is almost the same now. Let's be honest with ourselves, it's not easy to move down from using gas to using charcoal. If you are in her position you will find it difficult too. But where i will blame her is her unwillingnes to support in the cost of using gas or hot plate. She does not want to spend her own money, that is not good enough. A good wife must be ready to offer support when needed.

abeg close eyes abeg .10k for refilling gas isn't too much abeg.u even get to spend more on charcoal than gas in the long run.u will likely need like 1 or 2 sack of 200 naira charcoal per session of cooking. Calculate that.
And also cooking indoors is safe, I only cook with that modern charcoal stove when gas finish and no way I can quickly get the gas.

Now, let's solve this. Charcoal and kerosene stove are stressful. It's the truth. So, the plan is still gas.

You guy cook beans and some other things that take so long, that's why. Perhaps either or both of you love eating beans. Lol. Even rice takes time too.

Solution: Go buy a pressure pot. Learn how to use it. If you.take this advice and you need help how to use it to lower gas consumption rate to the minimum, let me know. One of my siblings used to have the same problem, and I solved it through this method. She used to use a 12-kg cylinde per week. After I showed her the trick, she used the same cylinder for 6 weeks. She was amazed. That's saying her so much. 2 cylinders for 3 months instead of 12 cylinders she used to consume in 12 months. You can get a medium size pressure pot.

Your wife will need to learn how to use it to cool beans, rice, spaghetti, moi moi, etc. Maybe only soup, she may not use it for. She must know the timing for each food so that as to avoid getting too soft. She will definitely make some mistakes at the initial stage which you must endure, and she will get it. One month max, she will be a pro and she will thank you. The kind of money you will save, you will be amazed.

You will save more sef if you buy a bigger pot and you have a constant electricity. You will understsnd when you start using it. It's so convenient, fast, and economical. You won't feel it at all. Mark my words. She will enjoy entering kitchen cos na "sharp sharp" she go leave kitchen.

I bought one for my father too. When his cook was away for almost 6 mths, I would go there every Saturday. Just a pot and I cook a week beans. Store inside the freezer and fridge. Also, his moi moi well packed in there. Then, I also do almost well cooked rice too, so, he takes the rice out and cook in the normal pot for just 5 - 10 mins max. "E don done" cos it's already boiled and almost soft.

I can use it to sterilise. I use it to sterilise my hike made tomato paste. The uses are so many, but most Nigerians don't know about it. Even the so called caterers and event planners don't know about it. Dem just go dey burn gas anyhow.

Those who cook large pot of food, instead of them to invest in a big pressure pot, dem go dey burn gas anyhow. I always shake my head when I see how Nigerians are wasteful. Later they will say poor man dey suffer. Na poor man no get brain na..

The only issue is that if you find using N30k to N150k (depending on the size and quality) to buy a new pot too much or impossible, then, you are ready to destroy your marriage.

1. You need to get your money up.

2. Change where you are buying the gas from, buy directly from mobil filling station. It would last the whole month almost.

3. If you are using four burner, try switching to the single burner. it saves a lot and you can do buy as you go 5k today and 5k two weeks later.

4. Get a microwave and cook things in bulk and store in the fridge, then microwave when you need it, so you are using the gas to warm food all the time.

5. This issue na minor thing, don't make a big deal out of it. But did you consult her before buying the charcoal stove? Afterall she is in charge of the kitchen, she probably would have told you not to. Bro put that thing up for sale on jiji and when you sell it. use the money to pay for the next gas refill.
