NO! Not compulsory, it will however be advantageous to your application amongst other document.

Thank you. Please do you know how long this process usually takes? I have never seen an orange clock before. It has been on that stage since last Tuesday.

I would like to ask about something I was told. Someone said that if I buy a ticket from Air France and I require a French transit visa, Air France can assist me in obtaining the visa because I purchased the ticket. How true is this? If no how can i apply for France transit visa and how long does it takes to get one, can i use one for my Family or we all need to apply?

That information is TOTALLY FALSE!!!! Please disregard and don’t pushase flight ticket without you getting a visa, it will end in MAXIMUM TEARS!
Re: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by MsAnonymous: 10:00am On Jan 16
This information is false.
However, if you have a vaid USA or Canada visa you can transit through France without a transit visa.
If you don't have one, then you have to apply on the French visa application portal. I hope you find a date before your travels.
Alternatively, do not fly any airline that transits through EU.

You already booked an appointment with them before( even if unpaid)? Call them to delete that one and you'll be able to apply.
