OChimex:This is one of the major fears I have. Getting a part time job while on student visa. But my biggest fear is getting a sponsorship after my studies. How hard is it? I plan to Japa January next year |

apolonius:I've followed your post and noticed that youre a Lawyer who resides in Canada, hence i believe you'll be best suited to advice me better. Do chip in a few insights. Thank you. I'm a Lawyer trained in Nigeria who has been called to the Nigerian Bar in September 2025 and I'm currently undergoing youth service to round up in November, I intended to apply for Masters in Canada and "Japa" through the study route but I've been advised to do the masters (LLM) in Nigeria since I have one year service in Nigeria which I've applied to. Having in mind that my experience while undergoing NYSC is crucial to my travel plans upon concluding the LLM. Are there any advices you'd give me or pointers that will help my journey maybe anything I need to put in place in order to ensure a smooth actualization of these plans. All things being equal I should be done with masters by next year. Also I'll be 29 years by December 2026 |

Reading through this thread again with FRESH EYES, I can see that many Nigerians from the upper class...or upper middle-class with good jobs and businesses can't come to grips with the REALITY that Nigeria has become POORER in the last decade or so. They can't accept the massive destruction of wealth and living standards. Many of them have been forced to MIGRATE out of Nigeria and generally feel humiliated by that flight. And most take it out on "the White Man", they HATE the countries that they've run to for survival. And most importantly, they want to return to Nigeria and back to the SOCIO-ECONOMIC positions they lost. That's the gist of the regret about 30 million naira...It’s a huge amount in Nigerian terms and it bestows a lot of social capital. It's easy to notice that those from poorer Nigerian backgrounds are much happier with migration. Like I said, fresh eyes. In fact one of the bitter pills that the upper class hate most is that they have to rub shoulders with LOWER CLASS Nigerians abroad. And it jells with my own experience and vibes when I encounter such people in the West . They HATE the happiness of their former slaves. I know I've told the story of how a group of such people reacted when I told them I paid my own university fees in the USA in cash without taking a loan. I low key feared for my life that day.... ![]() It's a tough problem. It's time for ALL developed countries to close their doors to immigration so that Black Africans can LEARN to build their own Kudos to all contributors. 👏 Very enlightening. Good Luck to Nigerians. |

TooDapper:Ogbeni, are you sure you are a lawyer? Please I’d like to know what school you graduated from as that school must be investigated. The Nigerian educational system needs to be seriously revamped! |

Digbick:Quite the opposite. When people first arrive in a place the novelty and optimism is much. But as time goes on the novelty and extreme optimism wear off, they become bitter and full of complaints like everyone else! ![]() |
