UI has been representing from day 1. I know a very rich man who has the capacity to pay for foreign school fee but decided to send his son to UI due to the high standard of education. I was shocked when he told me the story |

Forcing lies on people's throat. This past glory school wouldnt want to give up. This is not 60's , 70's 80's and early 2000 that you people were all and all , attaining unimaginable feats. In this present dispensation a lot of schools has emerged and has relegated and pushed this glorified school to abyss . This lies can only be meaningful to the gullible but we that know, knows better. |

MadamVanessa: EDUECO:Some Nigerians enjoy trashing Nigerian universities. Having studied in Nigerian federal universities and earning a doctorate in the US, I can say that Nigerian universities are not as terrible as some people make them out to be. I am not claiming that everything is perfect but Nigerians are often too hard on the country’s university system. You would be surprised at the accomplishments of recent graduates from Nigerian universities in top American universities and research institutions. During my graduate studies, I never felt like an outlier in classes filled with students from the US, China, Iran, India, Europe, and elsewhere. |

UI is a very selective school. For medicine, they take the highest scorers in jamb. That's why they are good. |

MadamVanessa:You're definitely right! Nigeria's public universities practise false or low grade science and technology; and that is why Nigeria is no where in the world in terms of scientific innovations. Just go and see the laboratories where future medical doctors and scientists are trained in Nigerian public universities. The laboratories are below world standard. |

Very impressive indeed! But left for UI, Unilag and maybe UNN, many Nigerians will remain uneducated or without a university certificate. However, Thanks to schools like Uniben, UNIZIK, Unical, and maybe Uniport, who would just overlook your shortcomings and admit you. They won’t disqualify you over every tiny blemish; they’ll admit you, train you, and send you into the world with an actual University certificate in your lifetime. Some call that “lowering standards.” I call it understanding the assignment. So yes, I Rep UNIZIK, any day, anytime, twice on a Sunday morning. |
| Re: UI Emerges Best Nigerian University In Law, Medicine by manuelkel(m): 8:40am On Jan 25 |
Undoubtedly, they deserve to be the best, since South-East Federal universities are more interested in tuition fee more than delivering quality academics to students. UNN and UNIZIK are a big mess right now. Tuehh. |

Nigerian universities/tertiary institutions have below world standard laboratories. It's impossible to understand how we got to those positions. Education has never been a priority for government, and the researchers a poorly paid below the world average. It's all shocking. |

All I know for sure is the UNN remains the first indigenous University and the best in the country just that it's not in the land of the media lords I remember my experience during NYSC in Ogun state where many of those S/West corps members couldn't fill common forms talk more of writing or making a correct sentence in English. One was converted to a cleaner in her PPA because she knows nothing to teach yet claimed to be a UNIOSUN graduate |

EDUECO:And that's largely the fault of Nigerians . Most of you support leaders on the idea that it is our turn to rule. Many of you also support the idea of a national cake That promotes an economy that is resource dependent, not dependent on industries and so forth. So long as the oil money flows, and is shared well, we don't need to develop a local industry Infact on this site, I have seen many people asking why we are not like Libya and Saudi Arabia because they are oil producers. I don't see Nigerians asking why we are not like Japan or south Korea or even china and Germany and even the USA. It's because most of us think that we should live like trust fund babies. Not like industrialist people. All our needs being met by selling oil money and using it for passive income. When you do that, there is no room for industries. That affects our universities badly. Because if there are no industries it makes no financial sense for universities to fund up to date labs since that would drive them into horrendous debt. Also abroad it's industries that fund universities partially or fully. This enables universities to pay for good labs and so forth to train the future innovations and so forth. Finally, our national cake idea means that most of us want to go to school for cheap. That means fees have been kept very very low. Check all the leading global universities. They charge high fees or they also are paid for by state funding which comes from very high taxes . Nigerian government universities for the most part are cash strapped. How bad is it. ? Last year, Harvard spent 6 billion dollars as it's budget. The entire Nigerian education sector , ie primary to tertiary spent about half of that. And you expect them to be like world leading universities? Some states even don't spend as much as a few million dollars on education , which is why they have wretched looking facilities. And yet we keep sabotaging education by voting for leaders like tinubu and even the rest who promise a share of the oil money rather than development to improve the earning of money for our nation.Even nelfund that tinubu is promoting is band aid on a very open wound. And we oppose improving tax revenue as well as fighting corruption unless it is our enemy. So what do you expect? |

Look at the fools saying nonsense about their country's universities on issues they know nothing about. Soon they will need international recognition then the whites will tell them according to chatgpt their educational system is poor so they can't be honoured. They will cry foul not knowing that their comments were parts of the pool chatgpt drew its inference from. The evaluation was not even done by Africans yet you claim it's false. When you study abroad that's when you will understand that many things na just packaging |

Not holding anything against UI or other schools which made the list, but of the trio academic institutions ranking, the Times Higher Education is the easiest to "game" and and an institution will see itself rise up the ranking ladder. QS, which can also be gamed but not like Times, and ARWU (way better, the oldest of the trio and meritocratic) are the best. |

nairalanda1:The real problem of Nigeria is mediocre leadership. Leadership starts from the family and it's also very poor in most Nigerian families. Poor laboratories infrastructure in Nigerian public universities is not only as a result of poor funding from government and industries/NGOs. In most cases the funds given to the universities are embezzled by the leaders in the universities. And the maintenance culture of the available laboratories is very poor. |

nairalanda1:I still stand by what I wrote before that pure science courses in Nigeria public universities are the biggest scam in the world. I don't have anything against social sciences, arts, and law. Laboratory is the real foundation of science and technology. You can't practise real pure science without modern laboratories. I was once a student of a highly rated public university in Nigeria. And their laboratories were outdated and poorly managed. |
