Makinde to Osinbajo: I miss you as VP… things are not the same in this administration

Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo, says he misses former Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo’s leadership.

Makinde spoke on Saturday at the 60th birthday celebration of Samson Ajetomobi, president of The Men of Issachar Vision Incorporated (MIV) and overseer of the Redemption Faith Churches, in Ibadan, Oyo state capital, where Osinbajo was also in attendance.

“Sir, I personally miss you in that position (as vice president),” Makinde told Osinbajo.

“A lot of people may not know why things are not really the same. It’s not a political talk because I’m not on that podium.”

Makinde recalled how Osinbajo’s decision prevented him from locking Oyo state down during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I remember I was barely seven months into the position of the governor of Oyo state and that was my very first public service job. And we had a crisis in the country; this was February 2020,” the governor said.

“There was Covid, and we came in for the national economic council meeting. It was a hot meeting; the chairman of the council (Osinbajo) came in and a few of my colleagues. I wasn’t sure whether they held a meeting before that meeting, but they came in and said we should all go back and lock down our state.

“So, for Oyo state people, why I did not lock down during Covid was because of his decision.”

Makinde contrasted this ease of decision with President Bola Tinubu’s refusal to withdraw the tax bill, criticising the administration’s handling of the matter.

“But we had the same situation in this dispensation; it was the tax bill, and we said, ‘Look, bring the tax bill; bring it back; let us all have an opportunity to look dispassionately at it,’ but you cannot speak truth to power in this dispensation; the tax bill will go ahead.”

Makinde has long opposed Tinubu’s tax reforms.

Last September, the governor declined assent to the bill after passage by the state assembly, insisting that it would impose additional burdens on the poor who were already struggling due to the current economic reality in the country.

Where is Fayose who told us Makinde went to beg Tinubu in Aso Rock? It appears to be Vice versa, seeing that Tinubu also met Olubadan the next day. Makinde continues to swing at Tinubu and appears he won't be taking any prisoners. In Osun, Tinubu is withholding local government allocations to strangle Adeleke while Lagos state remains a swing state. Tinubu cannot win the Southwest in a landslide come 2027.

Missing Osibanjo as per?

Wasn't Osibanjo and Buhari a monumental failure? You cannot exclude Osibanjo in the governance of Buhari. The duo ruined Nigeria to shambles and their oga patapata who is president now has come to bury it.
Re: Makinde To Osinbajo: I Miss You As VP, Things Are Not The Same by mascot87(m): 10:57am On Jan 25
Werey say he miss Osinbajo because the thief fell out of FG. If Tinubu have given him what he wanted, the 🤡 would have been singing praises of the Federal government.
Selfish people.
If things are in there favour, your will forget about the masses and start praising the FG but if it weren't in there favour, that's when you will start seeking sympathy from the delusional masses who most times fall for there antics because of shallow delusional thinking.

Nigeria is a fuggin crime scene
Re: Makinde To Osinbajo: I Miss You As VP, Things Are Not The Same by SixSeven:
2027 politics has started. Let's watch and see. APC is an association of strange bedfellows and if power and sycophants converge, they will sabotage themselves. It's just a matter of time. With the benefit of hindsight, we can now see that APC was only interested in power, not governance. Buhari showed the first sign, now Tinubu is continuing from where he stopped. Man was only interested in calculations and winning. That's why they don't respect PDP. The only power of this man is MONEY, and he knows if he can buy you, you'll sing for him. This is why they can easily buy the PDP politicians. He also does not do things for free. During campaign, many of those who supported him said "I want him because he did XYZ for my family". I then wondered, how low can we get if a public officer can now become a charity home. But am I surprised? He has shown it again now in power because they have brought in bambiala politics to Nigeria so just beg and beg, who statistics epp? Who cares about principles? What's morals? Morals ko, morale ni!

If you doubt me, look at the statement the APC Chairman made recently:
APC Chairman Declares: Once Appointed, You Are a Politician, Not a Technocrat

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ocjp_b3-X0k

Does this confirm to you that APC only cares about politics? Tinubu only cares about politics that's why he has been disastrous in governance. That's why you see so many appointments reversed or they recall press releases. He has surrounded himself with yes men. Men whose survival is based on satisfying his ego. You can not succeed with such people. As bad as Obasanjo was, he knew the time for politics and the time for governance and you saw it when he did cabinet reshuffles too.

Read the APC chairman's words:
“In 2027, as the party chairman, I will stand strong to defend the position that if you are not prepared to join us, you should not be given appointments,” he said.

“We encourage and support the members of the political party to be in a position.
"If you are a technocrat, go and be a consultant but not take political appointments and not go back to support the party that brought you to power.

If all of the appointees decided to become technocrats, the party will never return back to power. So, there is nothing like technocrats.

Them no born PDP well to issue this kind of statement 15 years ago, all hell would be let loose by the hypocrites calling themselves progressive democrats. They were so fine at criticizing but they don't want it now. You can see it with their minions here. They can't encourage any discussion, it's all attack. They defend their party with all their sweat because they are cheap. They have been bought. Men without principles. Party first, country later.

Now read all the above and think of how it is connected to Osinbajo who we know is a technocrat. Analysts said it would have made sense if Osinbajo contested but the so-called Kingmaker said he will contest and the 'boy' is a betrayer. But this is a man that they claim built people, he built Lagos. They only deceive themselves when it is convenient. They claimed they need a strong man to deal with the North 🤡 They are full of propaganda. It's all selfishness, none of them care about the nation. That's why the man can come in and change our national anthem and things that bring us together. The guy declared state of emergency all for POLITICS. I am so happy to see a Tinubu as president. All their mystics have been demystified!

In his speech, he said that the president did not allow them have inputs in the tax bill.

When Taiwo Oyedele said a meeting was set up between him and the governors, why were the governors absent?

We need some clarifications from Governor Seyi Makinde:

1. Why was money meant for Bodija in a bank account instead of being paid out?

2. Why did he not disclose that the money was given to him?

3. Why did he absent himself from listening to Taiwo Oyedele?

Nigerans of today are much smarter than the Nigerians of PDP era. Do you think it's only obedients known to be unnecessarily emotional living in Nigeria?
Oga refund the #30B and keep shut. You go beg Asiwaju and the man said no then the next day you sent your king Olubadan to Aso Rock to beg and the answer was still no and you think you have a chance with emotional game as if you are dealing with mpuru-nyaminri people?

Indulge me as I answer you, "Makinde is lying".

But in politics of any gathering; family, church, mosque, community, government etc, every participant knows you can lie and spread rumors and misinformation about others that will take years to confirm. It's actually part and parcel of the game.

Once again, "Makinde is lying ".

Makinde should be ready to be called names grin Tinubu's supporters cant mention just one thing their mentor, the self-acclaimed super politician had achieved since 2023. What makes them happy is the wave of the defection of greedy, corrupt and broke politicians into the apc and how they'd rig the 2027 election.
Re: Makinde To Osinbajo: I Miss You As VP, Things Are Not The Same by israelmao(m): 1:32pm On Jan 25
Osinbanjo was simply in a class of his own as vice president under Buhari, the pseudonym "Star Boy" emerged and stuck considering his brinkmanship and sense of steering governmental affairs with absolute ease when late Buhari was on long medical trip while he was in office.
