Police Arrest 14 Suspected Cultists, Recover Weapons In Ogun by cityboylagos(op): 10:27am On Jan 25
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 14 suspected cult members during a coordinated security operation across the Isara, Ipara and Ode axis of the state, recovering weapons, ammunition and other items believed to be linked to cult-related activities.

The suspects were arrested for unlawful assembly and alleged conspiracy to breach public peace during the intelligence-led operation carried out by the command’s tactical units. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

Items recovered from the suspects include three locally fabricated pistols, 11 live cartridges, four rounds of 9mm Beretta ammunition, criminal charms, confraternity caps, and a drum suspected to be used for cult initiation rituals.

Also recovered were 19 mobile phones, a Samsung mini laptop, and nine vehicles of different brands, some of which were reportedly without registration numbers, while others carried unauthorised dealer plates.

In a statement issued on Saturday in Abeokuta, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed that the arrests followed credible intelligence received in the early hours of January 24, 2026.

According to him, intelligence reports revealed that suspected members of the Eiye Confraternity had allegedly gathered at a bush location in Ipara-Remo to initiate new members and plan activities capable of disrupting public order.

“Acting swiftly on the information, a joint team from the Anti-Cultism Unit and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), supported by operatives from the Ipara and Isara police divisions, conducted a coordinated raid which resulted in the arrest of 14 suspects,” Babaseyi stated.

The police spokesperson said those arrested include 13 males and one female, identified as Solomon Shobamiwo (aka Solo Hot), Farooq Ogunsola, Toheeb Abolade, Balogun Williams, Ayodele Abdulkareem, Adedapo Ogunsanya, Toheeb Saka, Akpan Dara, Michael Olakemi, Habeeb Olayinka, Dapo Adeola, Adetunji Adeyemi, Henry Kingsley, and Nanso Blessing.

He added that investigations were ongoing, noting that the suspects would be charged to court once investigations are concluded.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, condemned cultism, unlawful assembly and all forms of criminal behaviour, urging youths across the state to renounce cult-related activities.

The police boss reassured residents of the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, while encouraging the public to report suspicious activities through the command’s emergency lines to support ongoing intelligence-driven security operations across Ogun State.

As usual, they'll come to the thread to display their ignorance and stupidity. Cultism has been in existence since ages in every country. Stop politicizing everything.

The fact is that the initiate illiterate into the group making the whole matter worst because those once do not care about anything.

The politicians are not helping matters.
Too pathetic.
Can we experience this set of people if it was to be military rule? I am just asking.

You can’t put those high risk individuals into the army. The army should be sacred and held to higher accountability than an average citizen
