With God On Our Side, Rivers’ Challenges Are Surmountable, Says Fubara by SlavaUkraini(op): 1:28am On Jan 26
Siminalayi Fubara, governor of Rivers, says he is confident about the state’s ability to overcome governance challenges, declaring that divine support will sustain its leadership, institutions, and communities.

Fubara, represented by Ngozi Odu, his deputy, spoke on Sunday at the 2026 Holy Ghost rally organised by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, the state capital.

He said the state government draws strength from its faith in God, describing the theme of the rally, “The all-sufficient God”, as timely and reassuring.

With the Almighty God on our side, our challenges are surmountable, and our future remains hopeful,” the governor said.

According to him, the theme serves as a reminder that in the face of uncertainty, God remains an unfailing source of wisdom, strength, provision, and grace.

He added that when human ability reaches its limit, God’s sufficiency prevails.

Fubara commended the RCCG for its continued prayers for Rivers state and Nigeria, praising the church for promoting moral values, unity, and faith among citizens.

Delivering a sermon from Genesis 17:1, Enoch Adeboye, general overseer of the RCCG, described God as all-sufficient and capable of meeting every human need.

Adeboye said the God who created all things also has the power to repair and restore them.

He noted that while human effort, including medical intervention, may reach its limits, there comes a point where only God can intervene to reverse seemingly hopeless situations.

Adesoji Oni, pastor in charge of the Rivers family of the RCCG, said the Port Harcourt Holy Ghost rally, which began in 2015, has grown into an annual gathering with significant impact on the state.

Oni said the rally has drawn thousands to the faith while touching lives both spiritually and physically.

He added that the church has expanded its outreach beyond preaching, citing its Christian social responsibility initiatives, including skills acquisition centres, maternity facilities, a rehabilitation centre for persons battling substance abuse, and an innovative mind hub across the state.

Rivers state has been embroiled in a political crisis stemming from a protracted feud between Fubara and Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

On January 8, the Rivers house of assembly commenced impeachment proceedings against Fubara and his deputy.

The lawmakers began the process after Major Jack, leader of the assembly, read allegations of gross misconduct against Fubara, endorsed by 26 members of the house.

The current crisis in the state escalated shortly after President Bola Tinubu lifted the six-month emergency rule imposed on Rivers and following Fubara’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Nigeria separation will be the best gift from God. 90% of all Nigerians in Diaspora are Southerners who got fed up with the entity called Nigeria. Most of these professionals will be back to transform the Southern country.

After betraying their benefactors, they turn to God. Was it God that prevented other candidates from buying tickets and handed over the governorship to you on a platter or Wike? Just collect your 30 pieces of silver and move on.

It is KARMA. Benefactor that rigged him in. The only benefactor in Nigeria politics currently is Kwankwaso. Man did not rig the election but his influence won the election for Abba.

Fubara go still meet his Waterloo but not at the hands of wike.

You didn't betrayed wike as the people have been saying...

Amechi handed over to wike, wike cut him off the government so, doing what wike did to amechi is not big deal...

The game is the game...

Does this south include the Southwest. Southern Kaduna is more South than Southwest.

Let Nigeria separate but the Southwest should remain with the North in Nigeria.

A remarkably talented politician who is now loved by Obidients, Atikulators and Agbadorians.

He will be endorsed by all parties so that everybody can join hands and rescue Rivers state from gluttonous individuals.

You can't blame a soldier.

A soldier follows orders and command given to him by his commander.

Same is like to wike and Fubara

The solution to this crisis is the removal of Fubara. Governance in the state is stagnant. This despot believes he can run the state without the legislature. A governor with a penchant for breaking laws deserves to be impeached.

Even those who handed him the ticket weren't the ones who created Rivers State! Everyone should move on.
The state is greater than one single individual trying to play God.
