Historically, there has been a perception that some Igbo political and business interests have sought to expand their influence within Lagos State’s political and economic space, often leveraging the long-standing liberal and inclusive nature of Yoruba society. As a result, many Lagos government policies are frequently framed as anti-Igbo, largely to gain political sympathy or score points in public discourse. However, when Yoruba stakeholders push back against what they see as attempts to dominate Lagos’ political authority, they are often labelled with derogatory names. Despite this resistance, these competing interests are unlikely to retreat easily. The Yoruba, on their part, are aware of these dynamics and remain prepared to assert their political rights within their own state. |

T9ksy:Today Abuja is equally a no man's land and that's because of its FCT status ,hence, the reason Wike from SS is the Minister of Abuja.... We can't use Nigeria money to develop Lagos and you claim sole ownership, do you see us call another Yoruba state a no man's land? Majority of the Nigeria economic opportunities are concentrated in Lagos and that's what's attracting most Nigerians into Lagos. |

greatiyk4u:It's quite disingenuous and mischievous to compare Abuja with Lagos in the context of FCT status. Lagos was already an emerging city before it was made the FCT of Nigeria - it already has a telephone system built during the colonial era in 1886, a port, built in 1913, airport built during WWII whilst Abuja was a barren land that was built from scratch specifically, as an FCT. So, Lagos was not built with Nigeria money rather it was chosen as a FCT because of its vintage position and the framework already laid down by Awo during its administration of the western region whose major parts like ikeja, agege, Oshodi, ilepeju ati bebelo were later annexed to form the FCT, in 1967. At any rate, the only group shouting Lagos is no man's land had little or no contribution to the further development of the city when it was designated as an FCT, as they barely had enough money to cater for their own homeland. Your folks were already trooping down to yorubaland even before Lagos was made the FCT- zik settled in lagos in 1937, all your educated men of the 40's settled in the western region same as the ilk of Ojukwu's father and the rest. |

Appletek:Or how many igbos are chairman in Kano, kadunna or Katsina ? They wouldn't dare as those guys have no time for turenchi...............they let their actions speak for them. we all still remember what transpired after the infamous speech by Charles Onyemma in 1945 that "Igbos domination ...............". |

Jonjam269:I can tell you for free that Igbo are not the problem. When it comes to Lagos, it's not them, you see the politics of Lagos is more of indigenes who have been systematically chased out vs the hyenas who find it easy to blame Igbo. It's the way the elites in the west do, they make the whites feel that the immigrants are the problems and they are coming to take their place. The real indigenous people of Lagos know how to take care of no indigenes and they are not against visitors in their land. It's those who imposed themselves as ọmọ Eko that are afraid of that privilege. When you belong to the land, you don't fear competition because you can trace your source. That's the confidence you see in both Rhodes-Vivir and Doherty. It's easy to distract you with the minority so you never blame the Baba Isalẹ Ask yourself what they have done to Yoruba people if their claim is right. They have mismanaged the wealth that belongs to us all and given to a few, when people ask questions they now start blaming Ọmọ Ibo. Shame no catch them. The irony of it all is that these people benefitted from Pa Awo's free education embraced by LKJ.

greatiyk4u: nya Miri and logic are 2 parallel lines…..if we are to follow your warped narrative, so Because Nigeria money was used to develop Lagos, my state Lagos cease to be yorubaland and no more part of Sw region? Then why is Lagos still part of the six states in Sw? Why is the tradition, culture, language and political structure Yoruba since we can’t claim sole ownership? You clowns see how the obsession with Lagos making sound illogically? your state that was also developed with Nigeria money is solely owned by ibo which no one is even interested in dragging with you but my own state and heritage doesn’t sole belong to me because some covetous and entitled clowns think they can decide what belongs to who?🤣🤣 thank God reality is always different from SM……that thing wey Una Dey find, Una go still see am ![]()

T9ksy: their agenda is to re write our history and downplay the achievements of our forefathers in the developmental history of Lagos…..we have told them severally that Lagos as always been far developed more than Nigeria even before the amalgamation of Lagos colony to form the larger Nigeria and less than 5% of Lagos was FCT which was majorly Lagos island, yaba while the rest was under the western region govt of Awolowo and he developed the ilupeju, ikeja industrial estate and other infrastructure. But this economic migrants who some of them have never even been to Lagos till the early 90’s will now sit down in their 2*2 shop and start re writing the history of Lagos to suit their warped narrative but we will continue to set the record straight. |

SixSeven: busybody…..tell us how the aborigines have been chased out? And did anyone come and complain to you? And how is that the business of an ibo kilometre aways that have no trace or share border with Lagos? If your state or region was even doing better than the people you are always obsessed about, it would have been a different story but yet you all desert your region to come and and seek greener pastures in Lagos. because of the leadership and development those you chose to denigrate with your propaganda have brought to the advancement of the city yet you clowns think you are in a position to tell us how to run our affairs? You should rather channel your energy to the sorry state of your region btw proudly Lagos ![]() |
