Tiktok Star Peller Quits Caleb University After Days, Cites Mental Stress by alphonsojidebab(op): 7:45am On Jan 28
Popular Nigerian TikTok streamer and content creator, Habeeb “Peller” Hamzat, has reportedly withdrawn from Caleb University, Lagos State, just days after resuming academic activities, triggering widespread reactions on social media.

Peller’s decision came to public attention following the circulation of a viral voice note in which the influencer expressed frustration with the traditional university learning system, describing it as mentally exhausting and unproductive compared to his digital career. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

In the audio message that has since gone viral, Peller lamented the long hours spent in lectures without any immediate financial reward, questioning the value of the academic routine in contrast to content creation.

“I will now sit inside class for like seven hours and be writing and looking? And play play not making anything? God forbid,” he said.

The TikTok star suggested that the classroom experience felt draining and disconnected from the fast-paced income opportunities he enjoys as a full-time streamer.

Beyond academic stress, Peller also pointed to age differences as another reason for his decision. He jokingly noted that he felt out of place among his classmates, whom he described as older.

“When I entered the school I see that everybody is old, so me too I need to get old like 30 or 40 years before I go,” he remarked.

His comments have further fueled discussions about age, relevance, and self-confidence within Nigeria’s higher education system.

The influencer also emphasized mental fatigue, stating that the classroom environment was overwhelming and that he needed to step away completely from academics to protect his mental health.

While his remarks were partly humorous, many social media users have interpreted them as a reflection of the growing tension between formal education and digital entrepreneurship among Nigerian youths.

As of the time of filing this report, it remains uncertain whether Peller has formally withdrawn from Caleb University or has simply stopped attending lectures. The institution has not issued an official statement regarding the matter.

The development has continued to generate mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians criticizing his stance on education, while others defend his choice, citing the evolving nature of success in the digital economy.

What pella is saying might sound crude and unserious...

But traditional or formal education is rigid and slow to reward effort. Maybe the system needs reforms to make it less rigid in a fast paced and changing world.

Where pella is wrong is presenting it generally that formal education is useless or a waste. He should present it like education doesn't fit his chosen career path not that education doesn't have value.

Success is not a one show size fits all!

Nigha just wanted to stress himself for nothing in the first place.

Certificate he could have just bought quietly without any noise..

Nigeria higher institutions wey don Belong to the highest bidder for a very long time.

Abi no the same Nigeria where people dey buy degrees without attending class for one day.

As a matter of fact, the best student in my set during my poly days, happened to be somebody that didn't attend class for one day...That one na something wey I confirm with my own very eyes.

It may seem insignificant now but gradually the Southwest is beginning to lose its edge that Awolowo bestowed on the region with regards to education. The heroes their youth worship on social media are the ones without an education. In its place, there's beginning to be a proliferation and tacit support for Internet fraud, prostitution, thuggery, forceful begging and other vices. It's time for self introspection and a hard reset.

I won't even blame the boy. This is a digital age and genz are fully taking advantage of it. Social media, content creation and all that was made for them.

I could vividly remember when growing up, social media wasn't a thing that much. We play in the sand, hunt for grasshoppers, go to streams and swim and all that.

But this genz time is different. Everything about them is social media! It is well

This thing still found a way to major this thread about bigotry. A thread about a streamer’s complain about the rigors of academic exercise has been quickly turned to Yorubas are into fraud, thuggery, prostitution, begging etc. The moderators and forum moralist as usual will look away until another person comes up with a nastier pushback. Thereafter, they will come out and start crying.

Ishowspeed is one of the most popular streamer in the world. He’s not more educated than Peller and he has never shown any interest in going back to school. So, is America loosing their edge in education? Are they now giving tacit support to prostitution, drugs, fraud etc?

Seriously, some of you think you can bully the extraordinary Yoruba people simply because you want political power? Is this how you want to make a new Nigeria possible? Through bigotry? Through daily attacks on Yoruba people? Buddy, Tueh!!

As expected. You can choose to see this as an attack or a feedback. This doesn't mean other regions are excluded or without their own peculiarities and vices but it's the bitter truth. The Southwest used to be the most educated region in the country. It is gradually declining. Ishowspped has a diploma. In the U.S, that's the average rate of education for people to still find good jobs and the quality is not the same.

This news is in the politics section, not the celebrity section. It will be addressed from the perspective of policy. End.

The traditional school may be outdated but there's no place on earth where education will be ran on overdose. Every school, whether it's the western school or traditional school requires discipline and patience. This guy is taking drugs but he doesn't know. All of us who use the smartphone, research has shown that it's like dopamine effect. Imagine that kind of person now forced to sit down to listen to a teacher when there's fun and excitement in streaming and sharing, like, comment and repost. His reward system has been messed up. Imagine the internet going off for a week, there will be a crisis for this young man because he feeds on attention to survive. Streaming is even worse than recording videos and posting when it's ready.

We have had enough time to see the effect of social media and technology and I put it to you that the world is now admitting that we don't need it in the classroom. France is banning it in their schools and others are proposing policies to go back to old school. His brain cannot handle the patience of education and that is a life problem. When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.

Or you should. Aregbesola was the first to introduce school feeding in Nigeria to incentivise enrollment and education. This was later copied by Elrufai in Kaduna and then by Buhari at the national level. These are leaders that recognised a problem and actually did something to address it through policy. That is how nations become great. That was why Awolowo's Education for All was a huge success. The whole world saw how Peller struggled to get a simple acknowledgement from Ishowspeed, the only missing link was education. He would have done better with a little of it. Money can not replace that. The youths are taking the likes of Peller now as role models because he's making money. The adults in the room should not sleep on this.

Aregbesola was not the first person to introduce school feeding in Nigeria. I attended a public primary school in Osun State during Olagunsoye Oyinlola's tenure. There was school feeding back then. Also, they gave us sachet chocolate (Tea Oyin) every week.

It will be very hard for him to go to school. He got the reward before putting in the effort so there's no motivation......Even if he gets a program that allows you to finish at your own pace, he will not see the need for that degree.

It's when it gets to signing basic contracts which he first needs to read and understand that he will realise the value of education
