Greetings like minds..Is it a good idea to still process the F-1 Visa interview considering president Donald Trump's ban. Because right now I don't even know what to do next regards to this current situation or is there any development regarding the ban?. |
| Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by InvestorHalal: 3:27pm On Jan 16 |
No development. I would advise you defer your admission. The issue here is an F2 visa (three dependents), whose husband is already in the US serving in the interest of the US nation (don't mind my jokes here ). Will the consular officer pity them in this scenario? The interview was scheduled for January 6th. It was rescheduled to the 26th of January. Perhaps it would be best to reschedule for August, as there is currently no development regarding the ban. crowndb: |

crowndb:Reschedule your date till after June 2026. Ban is still in effect for F1 applicants |
| Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by Taal17: 3:40pm On Jan 16 |
InvestorHalal:F2 applicants should reschedule till after June 2026. If they still want to visit said student they can apply for B1 B2 instead and probably make the trip during children's vacation time. Note they maybe Subject to visa bond of BTW 5k-15k depending on consular discretion. Note b1 b2 is still 90days single entry so . I do think f2 applicants have a case especially if the f1 student got a single entry visa (which would mean he can not travel to visit family) it means the only way family can see is if they visit . My thoughts though. |

DanielSanctus:This has been there way before the whole ban/restriction thing started. It's not a new instruction bar the H-1B and H-4 that the instruction included on December 15th and it's a general instruction to all stated applicants worldwide, not country-specific. It definitely does not supersede/change the existing/current situation. |

Let’s continue with the Form i-20 process, hoping the ban would be lifted by June I’m just so tired |

This was posted today (7 hrs ago) on the US Mission in Nigeria X page. I believe it clears all doubts regarding confusion as to non immigrant visa issuance. https://x.com/USinNigeria/status/2013992035175313412?s=20

How on earth did you include F1 inside B1/B2?

|
| Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by Blessed4sure: 8:30pm On Jan 27 |
So we should work with logic now, and not official pronouncements by the embassy? B1/B2 is an entirely different visa type from F1. And we can't assume that the lifting of the ban on one automatically applies to the other. Efetobore1980:

Alright. Leave long talk. Have you seen any F1 visa approved after the ban? It's not like I'm against the ban being lifted. It affects many of us and we pray it is lifted, but one has to work with official information that's been made available by the embassy, instead of speculations. The official info as of today is that F1 has been banned for Nigerians. Provide a contrary update and stop arguing. Efetobore1980: |

My friend's F-1 visa was approved recently but according to her about 80% of those who had visa appointment at the same time with her were denied |
