A Chinese businesswoman has openly expressed strong anger and deep dissatisfaction over the prolonged closure of the Main Market in Onitsha, Anambra State. She stated that the continued shutdown has seriously disrupted commercial activities, brought businesses to a standstill, and caused significant financial losses for traders operating within and around the market.https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1FnxRPcQtb/

If you know the global supply chain that has been disrupted by this market closure you will be angry with both the traders and the Governor. Again , what exactly is the Monday sit at home meant to achieve? My secret fear is that Asaba will be the final beneficiary of this leadership failure |

Soludo has joined unknown gunmen in enforcing sit at home. Professor that thinks one can use fuel to quench fire. Onitsha generally is currently dry. |

Other markets in Onitsha are open and bubbling with activities. Only Main market is shutdown till next Monday when the Governor will visit again to see the level of sabotage and then decide whether to reopen it or extend the traders' holiday. |

kettykin:Asaba doesn't do sit at home. Why will the traders want to go there and not observe monday sit at home but insist on observing it in Onitsha? |
| Re: Chinese Businesswoman Angry About The Closure Of Onitsha Main Market by kettykin: 12:10pm On Jan 29 |
AsomughaChuks02:Asaba is building an International Market , if the disruption continues in Onitsha , smart traders will move to Asaba, people come from Agbor , Benin, Owerri, PH , Aba , Uyo , Enugu, Abuja Lagos , i have seen People from Ondo and Ibadan coming to Onitsha for business , if these continues they will shift base to Asaba, Asaba does not do Sit at home and will not allow it . The Governor can stop it without shutting down the Market for a week. Already our real estate developers are already in Asaba building the Next generation real estates , Thanks to the hostility from other cities. This shutdown is a real time bomb |
| Re: Chinese Businesswoman Angry About The Closure Of Onitsha Main Market by AsomughaChuks02: 12:12pm On Jan 29 |
kettykin:Onitsha is full. Those that want to move across to Asaba can do so. A lot of the money made in Asaba will also flow into Onitsha due to the symbiotic relationship between both cities. |
| Re: Chinese Businesswoman Angry About The Closure Of Onitsha Main Market by kettykin: 12:18pm On Jan 29 |
AsomughaChuks02:This is very fine , both cities are twin cities and compliment each other in a number of ways . But let the spill over be because of trade overflow and not because of internal sabotage . My experience in Dubai however tells me that Onitsha is not full but congested and needs a real planning expert to decongest |
| Re: Chinese Businesswoman Angry About The Closure Of Onitsha Main Market by AsomughaChuks02: 12:23pm On Jan 29 |
kettykin:We don't care whatever. Let those who want to relocate to Asaba do that and Delta state government carry the responsibility. Onitsha is full. |
| Re: Chinese Businesswoman Angry About The Closure Of Onitsha Main Market by kettykin: 12:27pm On Jan 29 |
AsomughaChuks02:Let’s be on the same page. Think about what just happened in Onitsha. Now imagine the kind of chaos, trade freeze, and supply-chain disruption that would erupt if Dubai’s main market were shut down for a whole week not the normal, understood Friday slowdown, but a full stop. |
| Re: Chinese Businesswoman Angry About The Closure Of Onitsha Main Market by AsomughaChuks02: 12:30pm On Jan 29 |
kettykin:Main market is not the only market in Onitsha nah. I just left building materials in Ogidi. Everywhere is bubbling and many others too. |

Even if that market is closed for one year, as soon as it's open it's start boooming |
| Re: Chinese Businesswoman Angry About The Closure Of Onitsha Main Market by noony926(op): 4:15pm On Jan 29 |
kettykin:The Monday sit -at-home were forced down to people. A number of people have been killed at the initial stage, that's brought markekers to start observing the sit@home. A governor can not just come up and directed people to resume business activities without any security measures put in place. Both Onitsha and Asaba will still strife hand in hand... Onitsha will still remains business hub of the east, Asaba can as well come on on it own, but can not compete with Onitsha. |

| Re: Chinese Businesswoman Angry About The Closure Of Onitsha Main Market by AustineE1: 4:32pm On Jan 29 |
AsomughaChuks02:Is not just anyother market, this is the largest market in west Africa and if only you know the number of people coming into that market from all over Nigeria and some west African countries, only then you will appreciate the effects of this closure. |
| Re: Chinese Businesswoman Angry About The Closure Of Onitsha Main Market by Ezewuzie01: 4:52pm On Jan 29 |
kettykin:Nafdac closed down Ogbo ogwu market in Onitsha for over 2 months and they didn't relocate to Asaba. Your fear mongering is misplaced. Onitsha is set for life. Forever a hotspot for trade and commerce. |

AustineE1:Thank you for the deep insights on Onitsha Market . The staggering multiplier effect on transportation, hospitality, logistics, hotels, goods, and the restaurant economy would be difficult to ignore. The market alone accounts for nearly half of all visits to Onitsha,it is the city’s primary economic magnet. This is no longer the federal government marginalization of igbos, this is now fully 2 igbo opposing blocks marginalizing igbos. |

kettykin:Our Asaba dey benefit well well na , Obi Cubana don dey build mega city self … |
| Re: Chinese Businesswoman Angry About The Closure Of Onitsha Main Market by kettykin: 6:52pm On Jan 29 |
jerryunit48:you are right on this .Not just Obi Cubana many Igbos are already neck deep investing and building in Asaba since early 2000. We’re fortunate that the current governor is not anti-East, and that our Asaba brothers are openly pro-Igbo, united in spirit and reality. But the real question is this: what happens if, tomorrow, a hostile governor from an obscure corner emerges? By then, we may be counting avoidable losses that never should have occurred. |

| Re: Chinese Businesswoman Angry About The Closure Of Onitsha Main Market by grandstar(m): 11:04pm On Jan 29 |
AsomughaChuks02:Delta Igbos don't see themselves as core Igbos. I know some would protest. Do you know parts of Lagos were under the Benin empire centuries ago. Though Yoruba speaking, their loyalty is the Benin. When the Ooni of Ife was in Lagos for a meeting some years back and the Oba of Lagos present, the latter gave him a rather cold handshake while sitting and the Ooni standing up. It showed where his loyalty lay. Yes, these are Yoruba speaking people claiming they are descended from the Benin Empire and Yorubas are fine with it. |

Anyone who wants to destroy his region is free to do so. If you decide that sit at home is the next thing for you, so be it. Asaba is developing, that's the koko. Once Asaba is fully developed, they will draw the line and shift you into the hinterlands of Delta to go and further develop it. |
