C'mon, you can't eat your cake and have it.

The first is you some time ago.

The second is you recently.

The third is the date of the new poster's account opening?

What's the difference?

Even before the temporary restriction proclamation, especially the year 2024/25 sessions, the visa issuance quota 35%/ over 100 is almost usually the norm, due to Nigeria population . Nevertheless, your friend cannot witness the interview of up to 20 visa applicants after her interview (let's say she witnessed 30 people before her turn), therefore, her quotation of 80% visa denial is disputable.

That aside, your friend did not bribe anybody, neither is she related to the ambassador, ipso facto, she passed the interview and qualified for the visa.

The summary is that : Any F1 visa applicant who is found eligible for the visa will absolutely get the visa, regardless of the ongoing restriction. Congratulations to her.

So what I'm reading now means no F1 visa would be approved for someone from Nigeria even if one has secured a full scholarship to study for a PhD in the US? Does this mean no F1 visa processing is ongoing in the US embassy and Consulate in Nigeria now?

That means your eyes can only see the old news. Take your time to read the updated news.

If you postpone or throw your full funding Form I-20 under the bed, then you are on your own. Wake up !
Let's hope Nigeria will be delisted sooner so we stop being sober.

The confidence expressed in that article gives a shadow of hope.

Why not.

The US Embassy in Nigeria revenue is shrinking as Nigeria is the cashcow - market is huge for them

OP, but this is about immigrant visa not non-immigrant like F1. It is for those affected after January 21 the news says... The elites and diplomats are the most affected by that ban, so they will take it more seriously.

The one for non-immigrant visa wasn't mentioned. That one started from January 1.

Let us just hope they can tackle everything once and for all.

Ma'am, the Nigerian top diplomat won't be seeking an immigrant visa, but rather nonimmigrant visas, since they'll be visiting, and their children will be studying abroad. The Asiwaju government plans to address both migrant and non-immigrant visa issues. Just be calming down. We'd be getting ready for our flight to US next year August.

Hi guys, I'm trying to pay the SEVIS I-901 Fee. I went to all the banks available to send via western union. They all said they can’t send. If you’ve paid yours, how did you get it done?

So now when you schedule visa interview appointment, the embassy doesn't send the usual s schedule details to your email again.

I was on placed on 221g at my interview for H4 on October 14th. I got back home and saw that it was already approved in a matter of a couple hours. Mine was in Lagos though. I know someone who had an H-1b interview in Abuja and was placed on 221g, her visa was approved in less than a week after.

The timeline is largely dependent on what they are trying to verify and if they asked for more documents. However, if it goes past 2 months, you can send them an enquiry.
Please how long is the H-1b visa validity after approval? Is there a timeline one must travel and enter the US before it expires?

H-1B is a petition-based visa and typically issued for 6 years maximum with an initial 3 years issued and a further 3-year extension. But for Nigeria, they will only issue you a 90 days, single entry visa just for travel as they had been doing for all visas. At POE, the i-94 and consequent exit date will reflect the duration approved for your petition.

So this means every time you travel back. Say to visit. You have to reapply for another 90days?

Exactly. You have to reapply to travel back within another 90 days of the visa being issued. It's kind of the same situation with the student's visa before it was restricted.
