Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has said the state was not impacted by the recent power shortage experienced in parts of Nigeria, attributing Abia’s resilience to its control over critical electricity assets.

Speaking on the development, Otti explained that a significant portion of the state’s power infrastructure is under Abia’s authority, enabling uninterrupted electricity supply despite wider national challenges.

See as Alex Otti is dealing with you left right and centre. As for your ignorant comment, if you followed up the commissioning of that power plant, you would have heard Barth Nnaji mentioned that Alex Otti assisted them with funds when he was still in Diamond Bank, today, providence is smiling on him for his good works.

Am sure you don't have light where U now. Better pray your state is light up like Abia state.

Just cannot remember the name of the former minister under Jonathan that owns the company?

A good mild mannered Yankee trained engineer, always calm & well spoken, unfortunately the Pdp tried their best to frustrate him.

what a joke so you think constant electricity will make a state a manufacturing hub?? Why has Ghana or Botswana not become manufacturing hubs??
Re: Abia Unaffected By National Grid Collapse - Governor Otti by oalandAgents2: 1:12pm On Jan 30
I am sure that is the goal but Otti is not a cho cho cho governor. They call him a talk and do governor but in fact he prefers to only talk after doing 😊

The day you will visit Aba. You will understand why Aba is not Ghana or Botswana. Aba is breath taking.

I went to a casual road near st Micheal's Rd Aba and I almost lost my breath when I saw a full fledged Tricycle being assembled in a small shop by just 2 technicians. Just close by I saw welders welding the engine block of a delivery motorcycle .

I don't want to talk about the shoe making industry or the apparel industry because this will take the whole of the week.

Aba needs some kind of market place energy ,madness or insanity
Re: Abia Unaffected By National Grid Collapse - Governor Otti by kettykin: 4:14pm On Jan 30
Please someone should beg Alex Otti to package Aba power and bring them to the stock market , the company needs to raise more than $1b for the next phase of Aba industrialization. The Xmas break is over. It is time to work.

Re: Abia Unaffected By National Grid Collapse - Governor Otti by Image123(m): 1:10pm On Jan 31
Thanks to Buhari and now Tinubu who did the electricity reform. And Nnaji who built a private IPP.

The Electricity Act 2023 (signed into law by President Tinubu) overhauled Nigeria’s power sector laws and replaced the old 2005 Power Sector Reform Act. Importantly:
States, companies, and individuals can now generate, transmit, and distribute electricity independently within their territories or project areas — no longer restricted to the national grid or traditional utility model.
Small-scale projects (e.g., generation ≤1 MW or distribution ≤100 kW at a site) may be pursued without a licence, which reduces barriers for businesses and investors.
This decentralisation is intended to encourage local power markets, microgrids, off-grid systems, and new private participation across Nigeria.

The Aba Integrated Power Project (often referred to as the Aba IPP) was developed and built by Geometric Power Group, led by Professor Barth (“Bart”) Nnaji, a Nigerian engineer and former Power Minister. It was conceived in March 2004 by Prof. Barth Nnaji and the team at Geometric Power Group. It was officially commissioned on 26 February 2024 in Abia State. It was inaugurated by Nigeria’s Federal Government (represented by the Vice President) and Geometric Power after years of delays and development.
This project is a 141 MW gas-fueled integrated power plant (expandable to 188 MW) located in the Osisioma Ngwa area of Aba, Abia State, supplying electricity generation and distribution across nine local government areas within the Aba ring-fenced zone.
Financing was supported by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) and other investors.
i understand folks will tell us Otti and LP did it, don't panic guys.
