Yeah he did. MTN was a boutique telecoms company in SA, he wasn't the first mover though Econet was, but he mastermind the entrance of MTN (small at that time) to the Nigerian space

I simply said they wrote it as though he did it all. Far from the case.

This story exaggerates the role of the good old man. He did well, but they make it sound like he founded MTN in Nigeria or single handedly brought it to Nigeria.
Oya tell us the real story? Dis MTN walk into Nigeria to start on their own? Did MTN pay the licence fee themselves?

He was rich, but not one of the richest.

The way sim card alone was expensive then heh, that money can buy phone today
Pascal Dozies MTN sold sim card for N30,000 in 2001. Sim card is N1,000 now it's the first time in Nigeria history that something got cheaper over time. Thank God for GLO and Mike Adenuga. That saved Nigerians

Alright alright alright.
Perhaps I shouldn't have said so. Maybe I am the one now sounding as though I am downplaying his role, which no one should.

If you are calling Peter Obi a fraud, what will you call a person who graduated from a school 4 years before the school was built?

And somehow you happen to support that person without your conscience pricking you?

MTN is a SA branch, I dont think the writer denied that. If you read the report well it was stated Pascal didn't have the money but Crowd funded from friends. There is a reason why he is the Chairman

He did everything right but his Diamond bank was messed up by his Son who he tried everything possible including sending him abroad for studies. And Diamond bank which practically introduced flexible banking system as at that time, including kiddies account was later sold off to Access Bank

He took a risk and the risk made him billions of dollars, we all know how MTN was a force to reckon back then.
MTN came like a thunderstorm and made billions from Nigerians.

Na lie!
If he was, he would have ensured every staff is from your ugwu land, just like his failed Diamond bank.

MTN brought their cash from South Africa .
Re: Pascal Dozie: The Nigerian Who Saw What Vodafone, AT&T Couldn't See In Nigeria by bigpicture001:
It's a pity that one of his sons who studied business administration in the US and is wasteful, knowing the old man is now weak, mobilized a family pressure meeting to encourage him to hand over the riegns of diamond bank to him to manage..

He refused. but after much pressure from evryone and a seemingly first hand experience he allegedly got through his deputized Yoruba guy who leads the bank effectively on his behalf.. he believed the young man..

The young man instead went into flamboyant lifestyle , failed to constantly monitor the banks other executives and ran the bank amock..

The bank was flagged by the CBN for instability, he caution his son ND tried to bright back his fmr assistance who refused to come back.. he fought foot and nail to get the bank to be healthy again

Yes , he succeeded, but it was during Emefiele era, yes, during wigwe the connection man era.. their eyes were already on his bank to take over. Meaning, no matter what he does, he will b ordered to sell the bank
.

He painfully sold the bank he created from scratch and cried in a national t. V show... Wigwe the connection man bought it over straight and expanded access..

His careless son then delved into the then emerging fin tech world and created the fintech bank "carbon" which didnt also fly..

He was paid the enourmous value of his bank.. but that is not what he wanted.. he wanted a dynasty...

It is almost certain that wigwe will die someway or the other.. he broke alot of heart with his connections..

Also his heartbreaking forceful purchase of intercontinental bank.. using emir sanusi..

Wigwe hurt alot of people and so u know his end will come sooner rather than later
