don't worry about them neighbors, they are just been nosy. As long as you are not a yahoo boy, just try to be social and be jovial with them if possible they'll come to see you for what you truly are. If not, just mind your business and let them mind their's, wetin concern them. If they can't associate with you, just make sure you have friends boys or girls that you relate and have fun with, try to be out going and have fun so they don't allow depression and thoughts frustrate you. Your neighbours cannot label you that solely because you work from home. They add 1 and 2 together because they came to that conclusion. It is not just about you always indoors and balling. It also has to do with your friends and visitors.
If you invite any Yahoo style kind of friend or relative, you draw negative attention to yourself. If your gf does not work too, you should know you are inviting side talks to yourself.
Periodically, engage neighbours when they are discussing general topics and show your expertise when topics involving your line of work pops up. That way, they will believe you

Go and get a little office somewhere or share an office with someone. Go out every morning and come back at night

Move out of that environment....Look for a decent environment where people mind their business....

Hmmm, in my own case, I had a day job, I go out early come back late and only seen Sundays.

Then I lost my Job and became more visible: Especially going out to get food and charge my devices. Then I started hearing things like how's he surviving now that yahoo is no longer paying.

You must stay in an environment that nay not be up to your financial status. You can afford to live in the cheapest neighborhood, as you are not pressured by distance to work when renting.

I know a freelancer who lives in sango-Otta for instance.

Why not design a free website for your neighbours? If it's very good, they may even refer you to others.

You can even offer them a commission if they get you clients.

Running from problem rarely changes things. You'd be paranoid that at any new address, they'll eventually reach the same conclusion.

Most importantly, don't be a prisoner to what others think.

Get a small off I'd and work there so that you can also return like them in the night but spend differently vos na soft work you dey do

My advice is this save some money open an office and with that you can go out and com back in the evening or open another business to support the current one you are doing people has forgotten that we are not in 1965 since you are a young man and doing well the stigma will always be there

Na from Force Hqr Abuja I go first from carry am. I go make sure he go in for at least one month. Then after I go drag am for court for a minimum of 2 yrs. I already have 'trouble savings' set aside for such emergency.

You need to move out of that location, not because you are guilty, but because your neighbours' level of thinking and exposure is below yours and you will always be at the losing end. Moving on, your target should be communities where people in tech reside or people that are well educated and exposed.

When I was staying in Benin Republic and working my ass off indoors, my landlord thought I was into fraud and did everything to get me arrested, though he was acting on instruction of Western secret services and their African slave agents.

stop explaining yourself to anybody...you don't owe your neighbours any explanation how you chose to live your life...na you bleep up by explaining to them. Make your money and keep a low profile. Even if you move to another apartment,you are likely to face this kind of issues especially in average neighborhoods,unless you change the way you relate with people.

I can understand you quite well because I work from home full-time too.


The best advice is to move to a better apartment where you won't have more than 1 neighbour (working class), and make sure you get foodstuffs in bulk so you can be indoors without letting people know you're around.


Though, people near your house would still feel that they don't see you often, at least, you won't have to be misjudged by illiterate and jobless neighbours.
