Bahamas95:Better still don't be the source of another man's sorrow. Anyone that has involved themself in destroying other people's lives in one way or the other nothing can stop their children from reaping their sour fruits, not even God because God will not break his own laws and principles. The evil that men do live after them, karma is real. The more people are determined to commit evil the more this world is being destroyed Not saying that is her case o, may she RIP. But Karma is real. |

Gajagojo:Did you read the part where it says she was transferred to the ICU, what do you think is in the ICU if not mechanical ventilators. Nigeria is not that poor not to be able to afford mechanical ventilators in a federal medical center in the federal capital. |

BigYash:It's not possible for an ASV not to be available in Abuja. Cobra is highly neurotoxic leading to cardiotoxocity. The time of arrival to th hospital is another issue. |

Not saying the hospital is lying... FMC still has good services. But, this just goes to show that our Emergency Services remain less than zero across the nation, especially in remote places. Remember the Anthony Joshua accident case! Many lives would have been saved if our emergency services existed for medical and security incidents. |

BigYash:were you at the hospital when it happened? Health workers can be sometimes annoying but generalizing isn’t good enough. We can easily tarnish the credibility of some firm by careless talks online. |

wiseworld:😂 Possibly to avoid stories of please we don’t have money after treatment. Sometimes I don’t blame some clinics, like people go for treatments like whatever they’ll use to treat them is free. Some patient will even abscond after treatment and there is no money to pay. Sometimes it is a rule to not start treatment without a deposit or a good relationship with the hospital (like if you are a registered customer). It’s just a normal thing in most private hospitals. |
| Re: FMC Abuja Reacts To Death Of Ifunanya Nwangene by nairalanda1(m): 12:14am On Feb 02 |
wiseworld:Some hospitals have gone broke because they treated patients on the promise of 'we will pay', only for the patient to flee the hospital without paying after. It can even get bad that some hospitals don't make enough money to pay staff on time or at all when too many patients do that. |

On the topic of this thread, no comment. All I will say is, nigerians get the type of leaders they want. Modified Had to comment after all, because there was a lot of misinformation 1.Tying tourniquet does not help snakebite victims people. 2.CPR is very neccesary for unconscious snakebite victims.... |

sleek214:Don't mind them. The reason for buying data daily is to bring people down. Hospital has come out to say the efforts they made but bitter souls are here blaming them as if they sent snake to bite anybody |

buttlover:You dey call snake bite "Ordinary"? Something that can kill you as fast as 15 minutes depending on type of snake? Nigeria hospital na trash, but no call snake Ordinary. It's the same thing as car crash |

Babatundehy:She drove herself? Omo! A bite victim is not supposed to move at all, like movement or any activities should be zero or close to zero. |

Bullshit If u have ever taken an emergency victim to a Nigerian government hospital, then you ll know if what they said is true or not It's an experience one won't wish his worst enemy Nigerian politicians are the only people u can ever use to describe or equity Nigerian medical personnels in government owned hospitals. God forsaken country of wicked medical personnels and politicians |

Dogalmighty17:Actually, it can be useful. We report the case of a 57-year-old female who presented with a history suggestive of snakebite envenomation. Approximately one hour after hospital admission, she developed sudden cardiac arrest. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was initiated, resulting in return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) Source The first question any competent medical professional will ask is, what kind of snake bit her? This will quickly narrow down and pinpoint the most effective anti-venom for that particular kind of snake. The fact that she had neurotoxic complications and was given polyvalent antivenom shows it was very likely a cobra that bit her. The shameful disgrace of Nigeria is that the whole federal capital territory doesn't have a centre equipped with anti-venom that any hospital across Abuja can call and have it available in minutes. But as the press release shows...there was antivenom and it was administered. Abuja is expanding. It is inevitable that this expansion will reach areas that certain wildlife have long regarded as home. These displaced animals, snakes inclusive, start entering residential areas. The case of the Airforce personnel who got bitten by a snake that crawled through her soak-away into her toilet, is fresh in memory. Her house was built in a freshly claimed areaNothing to add here.. Yet just a 45 minute drive from Abuja, along the Abuja-Keffi expressway, is a snake farm owned by a retired Chief of Army staff. The most evil CAS this country has ever had. Snake venom is steadily harvested from that farm and shipped abroad. But as the press release said, they did give her antivenom. |

Freshandfitpod:In rare but serious cases, CPR may be required, especially if the snake is highly venomous and neurotoxic, such as a krait or cobra. Their venom can paralyze the muscles involved in breathing, leading to respiratory failure. If the person becomes unresponsive or stops breathing, begin CPR immediately: give 30 chest compressions followed by 2 rescue breaths. Continue the cycle until the person starts breathing again or emergency services take over. Only perform CPR if there are clear signs of respiratory arrest or unconsciousness. Source Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is an essential life-saving technique that may be necessary in severe snake bite cases. If the victim becomes unconscious and isn’t breathing normally, you’ll need to start CPR immediately. Source |

Dogalmighty17:If you dont know about any topic, why don't you research before responding, or simply shut it. That is my problem with many nairalanders Snake venom can cause cardiac arrest and thus CPR is required. Whether ASV was available or not,is up in the air |

OBIDIENTNAIJA:He may be a tribalist, but the person he responded to implied in his comments that there was no antivenom in the hospital, when the hospital press statement said there was antivenom and it was administered. Hence his rather crude response to that. |

jaephoenix:The press release says there was ASV and it was given. TO quote directly from it We want to clarify that the management team at Federal Medical Centre, Abuja acted promptly and with the utmost care upon Ms. Nwagene's arrival. Our medical staff provided immediate and appropriate treatment, including resuscitation efforts, intravenous fluids, intranasal oxygen, and the administration of polyvalent snake antivenom. |

TOPMAN4LIFE:Well, the patient had neurotoxic complications from the bite. Even under the best of conditions, including prompt administration of antivenom, patients can still die. It sadly does happen. |
