Trump Threatens To Sue Host Trevor Noah Over "Defamatory" Epstein Island Remark At Grammys

President Donald Trump has criticised the Grammy Awards broadcast and threatened potential legal action against host Trevor Noah following remarks Trump says falsely connected him to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s private island.

In a statement posted on his social media platform, Truth Social on Monday, Trump called the Grammy Awards “virtually unwatchable” and accused South African comedian Noah of making an “incorrect” and “defamatory” claim that Trump and former President Bill Clinton spent time on Epstein Island.

Trump categorically denied the allegation, stating he had never been to Epstein Island, and said he had never previously been accused of visiting the island.

“Noah said, INCORRECTLY about me, that Donald Trump and Bill Clinton spent time on Epstein Island. WRONG!!!” Trump said.

“I can't speak for Bill, but I have never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close, and until tonight's false and defamatory, statement, have never been accused being there, not even by the Fake News Media. Noah, a total loser, better get his facts straight, and get them straight fast.”

Trump also sharply criticised Noah’s performance as host, comparing him to late-night host Jimmy Kimmel and deriding both the Grammys and the Academy Awards as low-rated broadcasts.

“The host, Trevor Noah, whoever he may be, is almost as bad as Jimmy Kimmel at the Low Ratings Academy Awards,” he said.

He claimed CBS is “lucky not to have this garbage litter their airwaves any longer”.

The US president suggested he may pursue legal action against Noah, writing, “It looks like I'll be sending my lawyers to sue this poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an M.C., and suing him for plenty$.”

“Ask Little George Slopadopolus, and others, how that all worked out. Also ask CBS! Get ready Noah, I'm going to have some fun with you! President DJT,” he added.

The controversy centres on long-standing public scrutiny surrounding Epstein, who died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. Over the years, various public figures have faced questions about their past associations with Epstein, though presence at his private island has been disputed and documented unevenly.

Trump has previously acknowledged knowing Epstein socially in the past but has said he severed ties with him years before Epstein’s legal troubles became public.

The Grammy Awards broadcast itself drew mixed reactions from viewers and critics, with social media commentary focusing both on the show’s performances and on the host’s political humour.
