The monies paid to a Nigerian senator in UK jail, totalling $370k is enough to fill up the entire Nigerian with Antivenom for all kinds of snake bites and treatment. He committed a huge crime but they're still giving him payment from NASS. |

HacheNoire:Let's even assume our local herbal remedies are effective. Why are they not well documented & made accessible to patients as Oyibo has done? Instead they are shrouded in secrecy & sometimes spiritualism. How do you expect people to have faith in such practices? |

Make the person just pray to have real local help to come to his rescue! I remember my days in School, a snake bit a guy, it was dark at the time, the guy knew something had bit his leg but don't know what it was so he move to where there was light to check his leg, fortunately the the people around there told him it was snake bite. When he got to his hostel they started praying over the leg and as they continue the prayer the guy couldn't breath well again but was lucky when one them told an elderly man leaving beside their hostel who came with a blade to make some cut on the leg and make some chants which make the venoms to come out and the guy was stabilised like miracle. Since that day * respect the indigene of that town till today |

HacheNoire:Never said that. Check again; I'm not the one you originally quoted. Anyway, don't blame people for abandoning & losing faith in our local remedies. |

All this information is meant for societies where there is something called an emergency service and if you dial 911 a fire truck and an ambulance will show up in minutes. This are the things you do while waiting, not meant for societies where you will be driving yourself with a snake bite to different hospitals while being rejected for lack of anti venom. |

Tobacco plant ☘️ ewe taba is what they call it in Yoruba, we used to plant it around our house and poultry in FCE okene, snakes never came close but monitor lizards did and we keeled them every single time. Our neighbors poultry beside us were constant source of protein for cobras then. Emeskhalifa: |

Astromania:Dey play, a snake bit one guy living opposite my house on the 30th of December, 2023. It was in the night, he and his friend were walking along a slightly bushy path(Few areas were still bushy) when he got bit, they wasted some minutes trying to look for the snake, he eventually got rushed to the private hospital in the other street opposite my street, they didn't have antivenom. He was immediately referred to EKSUTH. which was about 20 - 30 mins away. Even ABUAD was about 20 mins away. Long story cut short, he died on the way to EKSUTH. Everything took place within an hour. |

heysquare:Omo, I hope too much religion hawking will not be our end. Time used in praying could have been used to move him to a hospital. |

heysquare:A few years ago at the hostel we were having a discussion with our security guard. One topic led to another and we eventually started talking about snakes. He told us that he had charms that could prevent snake bites and traditional medicine that could neutralize snake venom. At first I thought he was joking but later someone from the community confirmed that it was true. A few months later something shocking happened. A woman who lived close to our hostel raised an alarm that there was a snake in the engine room of her house. It wasn’t just any snake - it was a cobra. While we were searching for sticks to kill it one of the security man’s children walked in casually and caught the snake alive. A ten-year-old boy for that matter. Na dat day I believe say juju dey real. ![]() Later the man told me privately that he could prepare the charm for me, saying that even the deadliest snake in the world would look like an earthworm to me. But the “church boy” spirit in me then didn't allow me do it. Now as things stand I’m beginning to think I might have to travel and visit my guy. ![]() |
