Hello everyone,

I was booked recently by officer of FRSC for adding extra light to the front of my car. I was charged 10k per one making 30k for the three i have on the car. I was actually using two as a fog light and the third one was added the same range with the head light.

I checked the FRSC online website about fines and violations, all 54 of them, i did not see any thing related to head light violation. I want to know people experience about this and also if there is really a headlight violation.

My sister had the same experience a couple of months ago. They(FRSC officials) told her that her offense carried a fine of #10,000. She pleaded with ‘em and they suggested that she pays to ‘em, so as not to go through the stress of having to pay at the bank. She told ‘em that she doesn’t have up to that amount on her, and that she was having issues with her bank app. Her pleas fell on deaf ears and she had her driver's license seized, and issued a ticket.
She called me the next day and told me about her ordeal, while I requested that she sends the slip issued to her. When I saw the slip, I simply smiled and told her to go pay #2,000 at the bank, and later proceed to the FRSC office with the proof of payment, to retrieve her driver’s license.
I realized this same offence of yours, was booked under ‘Light/Sign Violation’ with a fine of #2,000. She paid the fine and picked up her license without any hassles.
The funny part is that the FRSC official wrote a code on the slip with a pen, and also wrote #10,000 with a pen on the slip. I told her to ignore it and just pay the #2,000.
I feel the FRSC does not have an ‘express’ infringement for such situations. They simply charge you under the ‘Light/Sign Violation’ offense and then, inflate the fine and scare you to cough out #10,000 instantly.

It was after i made the payment i realised i was robbed. And to think this man (FRSC official) is having an eagle symbol on his shoulder. He was even charging 10k per light. And my mumu me just told him I dont have such amount but i can pay for one.

While Government refuses to handle issues which make citizens need extra lighting on their vehicles just so they can have a chance at arriving their destination alive, do well to save yourself
