Nice one, then maybe the installation time is location dependent.
Have you been able to figure out your Ethernet port issue on your router?
nani667:
The Ethernet cable came with the package.. that was about the only thing that came with the package.

I connected the Ethernet cable to my TV. There are no issues, it has always been working fine.

If your wired connection has issues it may be an issue with the cable, have you tried with a different Ethernet cable...?
Thanks. I did try with multiple cables and devices but none worked. From troubleshooting and reading online, it seems it might be because the ports are not bound to the WAN. But the settings to change this is missing from my router admin page. I've reached out to MTN via several channels repeatedly and they've taken my details but they haven't gotten back to me.

You work for Mtn?
Re: MTN FibreX - Installation, Speed Tests, Availability, And All You Need To Know by orimion(m): 8:21pm On Jan 24
It's been over 24 hours of downtime now with the Fibre installation that isn't even up to a week. Everything is green on the router but there's no Internet. I've reached out to them via call and Whatsapp but no resolution. And coupled with the existing Ethernet port issue that remains unresolved

Looks like it won't be time to retire Starlink anytime soon

Yes
Re: MTN FibreX - Installation, Speed Tests, Availability, And All You Need To Know by Golden6(m): 12:38pm On Jan 25
Just pray your installation goes well. If not just give up, their repair team apparently takes over a month to fix issues. i have been waiting over two weeks now for the router they installed in my house to browse, I've called 217 everyday, and messaged on twitter severally. all silence, extremely appalling service from mtn. Pray you wouldn't have issues.

Also during installation tell their staff to take their phone and stand outside during speed test. apparently some of them rename their phone hotspot and password to the router hotspot and password and pretend it is working. If during installation the wire cuts in any place just give up immediately. They cut my wire on my barbed wire fence and i assume that is the source of my issues.

Please guys I need help on what to do or what could be the problem. My installation was done on Saturday and the installer called me on Sunday morning that it was activated. So I was able to connect and use for 15mins, since then I have been trying to connect, but na wahala, it was connected but saying no internet. The lights were all green throughout. I called 217 severally they said, I should disconnect and restart, which I did but still no solution till now. Installer said he did his part already. Meanwhile I also called the 217 this morning to confirm if it was activated and they said yes. They escalated the issue to their tech support. Has anyone encountered this type of issue with mtn fibre x? Abeg o wetin I fit do like this.

If you read some messages back, you'll see myself and someone else complaining of a similar issue. Mine is the exact same as yours.

But I just checked now, and it's working now for me. It started on Friday. I called 217 Friday, Saturday and Today. I also reached out on Whatsapp more than once.
Re: MTN FibreX - Installation, Speed Tests, Availability, And All You Need To Know by encrypt(m): 1:19pm On Jan 27
Anybody paying for this fibre x should do so at their own risk.
Installed since the 6th and three whole weeks later it's not activated yet. Called 217, emailed support, reached out on X, spoke to installer and marketer. All for nothing.

I don't think this kind of delay and lack of responsiveness is worth the 12k saving.

this is good and I have screenshot this and I will make sure it get to the appropriate authority...now ppu should note this...this installers are now sabotaging the main purpose of this fibreX on a serious note paying and installation shouldn't take more than 1-3days now they are deliberately causing the delays because of the shortfalls knowing that even if the issue is escalated it will still take some time before it is being attended to now since no customer would want anything to do with delays they will now capitalised on by acting as if they want to assist that's when the money will now comes in...some will even tell you that the FAT they are to connect from is not powered...
Please and please you are not to give extra money to any installers unless you feel like giving them out of pity for the stress some of them might have gone through while installing for you ..MTN already pay them you are to provide ladder only for them and most times that comes with a fee probably from where they may get it from....
Do you have anyone I can contact to activate my FAT. It's been almost 3 weeks I paid and 3 installers have been to my house to install the fiber network but they keep reporting that the FAT hasn't been activated. I've contacted MTN on X but no response.

Hello everyone, please I would like to know if anyone has experienced a similar issue with MTN Fibre X.

The problem started after I made payment. The estate where I live is divided into three phases. Phase 1 is before our Phase 2, while Phase 3 is beside both phases. Both Phase 1 and Phase 3 already have the fibre infrastructure, but the infrastructure has not been extended to Phase 2, where I reside.

The fibre infrastructure currently stops at Phase 1, which is about 200 meters away from my house. Note that the infrastructure in question is the fibre pole installation, not NEPA poles.

MTN has sent about three engineers for installation. The last engineer was the only one who carried out proper field analysis, recorded a video, and sent it to MTN. It was later confirmed that the estate leaders had already signed an MOU with MTN and were waiting for implementation.

However, for the past few weeks, there has been no sign of the infrastructure being extended to Phase 2, which is located behind Phase 1 and beside Phase 3.

Please, does anyone have any advice on what to do? MTN is not willing to issue a refund. Has anyone experienced something like this before?

I also have my funds with them for a similar reason. I thought the cables in front of my house belonged to MTN, but they are not. So, I was told to wait for a time when they will come and install it in my area, because the streets on the other side of the road are all powered already.

For now, I am on Airtel ODU

Please, does anyone have the number of a FiberX technician in Benin?

I made payment since 2 weeks now. Yet no one has come to my area for installation. I’ve customer care again and again. They keep giving excuses.

Yes, so far. The feeling I got from the issue I had was that the customer support can do little other than escalating the issue. After that you're at the mercy of the people with the technical knowledge to debug the issue.

I hope yours has been fixed

Best bet ...assuming the distance is lesser than 200m from the FAT box to you house..they sure can install it for you...they will only come with 200m long wire

According to them, which I also saw myself, they don’t use NEPA poles. They have their own particular poles, similar to streetlight poles. According to the engineer and he showed me proof—they are warned, especially in areas where they already have their own poles, not to use NEPA poles,if they do, they will be fined.

Another engineer who came (I’m not sure if he is right) said Huawei is in charge of the infrastructure installation. As it is now, I don’t know what to do. Refunds take about three months or more, according to what I heard, and MTN has not shown any sign of extending the phase to my estate.

Feel free to ask any questions.[/quote]This is detailed and well written... thanks

Questions
1. Is it possible to limit/control download speed on connected devices?
I'm currently sharing it with my neighbour and last month when I joined with him, my download speeds were great. But currently I'm unable to download a 34Gb file in 8hrs!!!!

In your own case...the strict restrictions in using Nepa poles is the issue here in some locations it is not like that...so long they are not mounting the FAT boxes on Nepa poles but just to run the wire along the Nepa poles till it get to your house shouldn't be an issue...
Since you never can tell how long it will take MTN to do FAT extensions to your Estate...then you should request for a refund

The infrastructure is about 150 meters away from my house. It is already within the estate, just one street ahead of mine. When I stand in front of my gate, I can see the last pole where the connection ended; there is only a small bridge between the last pole and my street, all within the same estate.

The issue of a refund, according to the marketer and the engineer, is very discouraging. They said it takes about three months to process a refund. I’m really tired, abeg.

I keep sending emails, and the response is always that my complaint has been acknowledged. On WhatsApp, they say I will get feedback, while the email response says they are working on the complaint.

Please be security conscious.

Someone called us to say that he is from MTN and that our device was sending an error message to them so they need to come and fix it. We told him that the device is working fine and we didn't make any complaint but he kept saying that since it's already sending the error messages, it will soon develop an issue so he has to come and fix it, not even on the connection outside the house but inside the house. We became suspicious and ended the call then placed a call to 217. When we told them about the call, they said we should disregard it as long as we didn't log any complaint and the device is working fine, there's no need for any visit.

They also said any 'agent' that comes to the house for anything should show their ID card to prove that they work with MTN.

Let's be mindful of our safety in this time of insecurity.

I was surprised when they called me the next day. Even MTN was surprised because they called me a day after it was installed to ask me to say the installation time might exceed their usual timeline of 7 days and to allow for up to 14 days. I had to tell them it had been installed already
Can you imagine
