24-Year-Old Man Arrested in Lagos for Posing as American Doctor, Defrauding Victims of ₦48.5m

The Airport Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old man, Precious Onudhona, for allegedly defrauding unsuspecting victims of ₦48.5 million through an online romance scam in Lagos.

The arrest was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Mohammed Adeola. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

According to the police, Onudhona, a native of Delta State, allegedly posed as a white American medical doctor identified as “Travis Kevin” on social media platforms to gain the trust of his victims.

Adeola stated that the suspect was arrested on February 2, 2026, while attempting to board a flight from Lagos to Asaba, Delta State, following actionable intelligence received by the command’s Anti-Fraud Unit.

Investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly created a fake banking domain displaying fictitious account balances, which he used to convince victims of his financial credibility.

The police said Onudhona solicited funds from his victims under the false pretense that the money was needed for feeding and medical supplies after he purportedly sustained injuries in the line of duty.

“In the sustained efforts to prevent criminal elements from exploiting the aviation environment, the Anti-Fraud Unit of the Airport Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old suspect linked to a large-scale fraud amounting to ₦48,500,000, equivalent to approximately $35,000,” the statement read.

Further investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly joined a fraud syndicate in 2023, which specialized in romance-related scams targeting victims through social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.

The Commissioner of Police, Airport Police Command, CP Ogunbode Olufunke, MNIPS, PhD, ordered a thorough investigation into the matter to ensure that all members of the syndicate are identified and brought to justice.

She reiterated the command’s zero-tolerance policy toward criminal activities within the aviation environment, describing airports as highly sensitive zones that must not be exploited for unlawful purposes.

The police added that the suspect would be transferred to the Interpol Section for further investigation and prosecution.

They should train him into becoming a medical doctor. If he's passionate about it then it is a plus to the nation. If he isn't passionate about being a doctor but just want to defraud unsuspecting citizens then forcing him to study medicine will torment him more than any jail term or time.
