As in! Funke's response was an overreaction, it doesn't match Kunle's comment. Even if she thought it was a veiled dig, that type of response makes me question her ability to properly regulate her emotions.

Know someone that's worked as a writer on one of her projects, said she's very unhinged.

Kunle is a class on his own.

Not trying to take away Funke's flowers, but I don't know the names of her movies that made the billions. Never watched them, was never interested.

October 1st would forever be a classic.

Kunle, we beg thee! We plead with thee! Give us something for the year

Apart from Kunle, Emelonye and your namesake Izu Ojukwu, I doubt any filmmaker can capture my attention. Kemi Adetiba tries sometimes too

Personally, I am struggling to see how Kunle offended Funke here, you can point me to it because I don't see it. Worsestill, Funke's response (more like a rant) is disappointing, especially when you consider her level of exposure; I mean!

He mentioned your name, so? You are both popular celebrities in the same field, irrespective of the competition. I doubt Kunle mentioned her to question her credibility or diss her.

He asked a legitimate question, "I don't know how Funke and the likes are doing it, creating all those skits, everyday changing different costumes, I cannot". Is that what triggered that type of response from Funke?
Let me start by saying i have never watched Jenifer or any of Funke's movies. I don't think like her style or even her personality. Afolayan is by far the superior filmmaker IMO.

Having said that, though her reaction might have been excessive, that was a subtle jab at her. He should not have mentioned her name and kept it general.

He was implying that the dancing and skits Funke was doing in order to make her movies profitable were beneath him.

1) So Funke's movies can't be profitable without dancing and skits. 2) You are too big for skits and dancing, but Funke is not.

Ogbeni, nobody asked you about Funke. They just asked you when your next movie was coming out.
To borrow the words of the great philosopher Jeezy, if you get jammed up don't mention my name.

PRESS RELEASE

EXCLUSIVE ON TERRORIST DETENTION FACILITIES DEEP INSIDE THE TIMBUKTU TRIANGLE DESTROYED BY TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI

Troops of the Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), recorded a major operational breakthrough following a carefully coordinated operations in the last 2 weeks leading to the capture and destruction of notorious ISWAP terrorists detention facility deep within the forested Timbuktu Triangle in Gujba Local Government Area. The development marks a significant advance into areas long considered beyond the reach of security forces and underscores the growing effectiveness and sustainability of ongoing counter-insurgency operations.

The operation was conducted as part of Operation DESERT SANITY V, following sustained offensive pressure and intelligence-led manoeuvres that forced terrorist elements to abandon critical facilities deep within their strongholds. Their exposure and destruction clearly demonstrate that troops of OPHK have advanced well into inner sanctuaries of ISWAP terrorists denying the group both physical space and psychological advantage.

From 21 January 2026 to date, troops uncovered and destroyed 3 major terrorists detention facilities concealed within the Timbuktu Triangle forest which stretches across Borno and Yobe states. Preliminary assessments indicated that the facilities had the capacity to hold up to 300 detainees, highlighting their strategic importance to ISWAP terrorists operational and coercive framework. Further findings indicated that sustained offensive action by troops directly led to the escape of over 70 captives previously held by the terrorists. This was corroborated by many of the escaped captives who later resurfaced in several villages like Goniri, Buratai and Mandaragirau among others.

One of the escapees, Malam Jidda Ba Jidda, a native of Kufi village near Buratai in Biu LGA who was abducted on 22 December 2025, disclosed that he escaped during the gun duel between the terrorists and advancing troops in the Timbuktu Triangle.

During the series of encounters in the Timbuktu Triangle, ISWAP suffered significant combat losses, with no fewer than 32 fighters neutralised, including 2 Qaids and 3 Munzirs, while several others sustained serious injuries during fierce engagements with troops

Following thorough clearance of the area, the 3 detention facilities were deliberately demolished, permanently denying ISWAP the ability to reuse or reoccupy the site. The operation was conducted successfully and without incident, reflecting the resilience, professionalism, discipline and combat effectiveness of the troops of OPHK.

The destruction of the detention camp marks more than a tactical victory. It degrades ISWAP’s internal enforcement mechanisms, disrupts the terrorists ability to detain and collect ransom from civilians, and further constricts their freedom of action. The escape of a large number of detainees not only deprives the terrorists of a key tool of funding, but also undermines their control over local populations while potentially providing valuable intelligence and testimonies that can aid ongoing operations.

While the general security situation across the Theatre remains calm but unpredictable, troops’ morale and fighting efficiency remain satisfactory. The Armed Forces remain committed to sustaining pressure on terrorist elements, denying them safe havens, and restoring lasting peace and security across the North East of

Maybe it was just Funke's name that came to his mind right on the spot sha because in the follow-up interview he explained himself further. I saw the video of the follow-up interview in which he mentioned Femi Adebayo who happened to be his Gee who also dances to promote his movies in cinemas.

I think Funke just got mad with the way Bloggers twisted the whole interview and she saw it as an attack on her craft which is not Kunle Afolayan's intention.

I still hold on to the fact that his message was that people no longer rate movies on how good they are but how much they gross at the cinemas. The gross figure that still ends up being split by cinema owners and the project financiers leaving the producer with so much clout and few hundred of millions in their pocket.
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 8:30am On Feb 04
So, word on the street is that Tinubu may be looking at using a Christian Northerner as his running mate in 2027 to replace Shetimma as VP.

It is being rumoured that the current defense minister Christopher Musa (immediate past CDS) may likely be the man to be considered for that role. Musa recently mentioned in an interview that he is not yet an APC member but will join soon. It's in the papers this morning that he has been added to the APC national convention planning committee suggesting he will be a full-fledged APC member by the time APC hold their national convention.

PS: This is a rumour that has not yet been confirmed, but it is looking likely Tinubu may have to ditch Shetimma. Some are saying the US government will be placated if a Christian VP emerge considering the controversy that has trailed the Christian genocide in Nigeria as noted by the US government.

I don't really follow these guys like that. He might have had pure intention, but his delivery was poor.

He was basically casting aspersions on that mode of movie PR and name-checked her. He can drop his Gee's name and they will understand themselves and know where to settle it. It is not the same as dropping a stranger or enemy's name. There are jokes or yabs that i can aim at people i am cool with that i won't aim at people that are not my friends.

Thank you for this.

Many industry colleagues don't like FA. She's been accused severally of "unethical practices" by fellow cinema movie producers. They allege that the Cinemas allot multiple viewing days and peak times to her movies and sabotage theirs by falsely claiming they're sold out, alloting unfavourable screening time, or limiting showing to once a day. Also, they say staff of cinemas talk down their own movies, then hype, suggest and divert movie goers to watch FA movies.

In all these, there was a commonality. Nobody mentioned FA's name but keen followers of the industry sabi wetin dey sup and who dem dey talk about.......so she kept her cool.

Now this a woman dealing with all these issues of jealousy, envy and hatred from industry colleagues and KA comes out and mentions her name like that....what I'll term a "complimentary insult" and una dey gaslight her, say she overreacted and are calling her unhinged and aggressive. No na.

Not that I believed the 1b, 2b numbers they say her movies gross in the cinemas. How much be the average cinema movie ticket? How many people gats watch a movie to realize those numbers? I don't think Nigerians are flocking to the cinemas in such huge numbers so I believe the numbers are grossly exaggerated.

Still, FA is clearly the record holder in that regard, and KA comments were borne out of envy for her cinema feats and thats why he mentioned her name and talked down on her cinema record . Ok, her movie makes 2b in cinema. Tax and cinema collect 1.5b. She is left with 500m. How does he know she doesn't make more than 10m?. Is he her accountant? Did she collect money from him? Why is he egen calculating the takehome from her project?

See, wisdom no be by age or grey hair. It's the ability to bridle the tongue and be disciplined in utterances.

Kunle Afolayan effed up, and Funke treated his eff up.......the way she deemed fit.

For real, some of those boys have actually made serious money from Fraud low key. It's just their penchant for show off that always get them undone at the end of it all.

A friend of mine was telling me recently that some of those guys have hackers who write codes for them which they use social engineering to later rob unsuspecting guys of their cryptocurrencies online. He said there are boys who meet $5m, $1m, $500k in different wallets they gain unauthorized access to.

There's a guy in my area who owns a next unisex salon, beauty spa and also sells exotic cars in the same building. My friend said he's one of those guys , their MO is to look for a business that makes steady daily cash to cover up as CEO so security agencies don't look too much into their affairs.

I was telling my spouse the same thing on Sunday when she mentioned how there's been proliferation of car lots/ car dealer shop at almost every corner you turn to nowadays. I told her most of that car lot business is funded by fraud money and just a few who have relatives abroad who ship those vehicles down here for them to sell at a profit and send their own share.

Not many banks will open eye carry hundreds of millions give u as loan to take run car dealer business like that.
