bidex111:All these mass killings are getting too much. We need to genuinely investigate and pin these crimes to particular groups and make sure they pay for these crimes no matter how far they run. The fact that there seems to be no consequence for these things is the reason why it keeps happening. All this terrible news just makes us sound lawless to anybody hearing this news outside the Country. This is just soo sad. |

NAF SUPER PUMA RETURNS TO SERVICE AS CAS CHARGES PERSONNEL TO BOOST OPERATIONAL READINESS The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has recorded a major operational boost on 4 February 2026 with the commissioning of the reactivated Super Puma helicopter (NAF 565) at 205 Rotary Wing, Ikeja, Lagos, as the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reaffirmed the Service’s determination to sustain decisive airpower in defence of the nation. Describing the event as a symbol of renewed capability, the CAS stated, “This occasion is not merely about the return of an aircraft to our fleet, but a demonstration of our unwavering commitment to enhance and sustain a highly motivated, professional, and mission-ready force.” He emphasized that restoring legacy platforms remains central to strengthening national security and ensuring the Air Force maintains operational superiority across theatres. Air Marshal Aneke, expressed deep appreciation to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda is translating into tangible capability gains through strategic acquisitions and restoration of critical assets. Highlighting the aircraft’s value, he described the Super Puma as indispensable to NAF operations. “The Super Puma is a workhorse whose role is second to none in the Nigerian Air Force,” he said, stressing its importance in troop transport, casualty evacuation, search and rescue, and logistics support, as well as its proven effectiveness in Operation Hadin Kai and other joint missions nationwide. Commending the consultant, retired Air Commodore TA Badru, the Air Officer Commanding Mobility Command, and technicians of 205 Rotary Wing for their professionalism, the CAS charged personnel to uphold strict safety and maintenance standards. “Let it reflect our strong culture of airmanship, maintenance and pride,” he urged, linking discipline directly to mission readiness. During a durbar with personnel at Sam Ethnan Air Force Base, he highlighted improved operational tempo and revealed that the NAF is fast-tracking induction of advanced platforms, assuring airmen that “these state-of-the-art platforms will provide us with unprecedented precision strike capabilities and regional deterrence.” Reaffirming his welfare-driven approach under the principle of “Welfare for Enhanced Warfare,” the CAS pledged continued improvements in accommodation, allowances, and medical support, urging personnel to remain disciplined and mission-focused as operations intensify nationwide. #NigerianAirForce #Airpower #OperationalReadiness #MilitaryAviation #NationalSecurity #NAFOperations

Further information is coming to light regarding the extent of Nigeria’s military collaboration with the United States. Reports suggest that the U.S. has sought approval to set up a drone refueling station in Nigeria. This facility would aid U.S. drones based in Accra, Ghana, from which America currently carries out ISR missions over vast areas of Nigerian land. While the exact types of drones involved have not been publicly confirmed, it is most likely the MQ-9 Reaper. These drones utilize Honeywell TPE331-10 turboprop engines and generally operate on JP-8 or similar kerosene-based fuels. Negotiations are reportedly at an advanced stage, with a state in Nigeria's North East identified as the potential host. Although the U.S. initially suggested Lagos or Abuja for the station's location, both options have been dismissed. |

DSS Arrests, Arraigns Suspects Over 2023 Murder of Four Soldiers Three years after the murder of four soldiers in Ashaka Aboh, Ndokwa East LGA, Delta State, the Department of State Services (DSS), have arrested two suspects, linked to the killings. Sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspects, Ufuoma Sunday James and Lawrence Umuakpero Oboguayivwgue, were also implicated in the beheading of Chief Okwudili Obi (aka Odumodu), the self-proclaimed traditional ruler of Asemoku Community, amid a 2023 communal crisis. It would be recalled that, in February 2023, military personnel deployed on a peace mission during a communal crisis between Kwale and Asemoku communities in Ndokwa East LGA were ambushed by hoodlums allegedly led by James, resulting in the death of the soldiers and theft of their weapons. Credible security sources revealed that in January 2026, DSS operatives, acting on credible intelligence, apprehended the suspects, who have reportedly confessed to the crimes and admitted involvement in gun-running and other violent incidents. DSS operatives have been investigating the case for over a year now and in January this year, they received accurate intelligence which led to the arrest of the suspects," offered the source 'The suspects have confessed to the crimes and also admitted to other crimes including gun running, kidnapping and other violent incidents. They have been arraigned before a state high court in Kwale where the judge ordered that they be remanded in a correctional centre pending trial," added the source. "This arrest represents a major breakthrough in the Department of State Services' (DSS) ongoing investigations into cold cases, demonstrating the agency's commitment to pursuing justice despite the passage of time," stated another source. "It also underscores the effectiveness of coordinated intelligence efforts in resurfacing long-dormant leads and reassures communities that no violent crime, particularly those targeting security personnel will go unpunished," he declared.

Who has an idea of the numbers of aircraft and make the Nigerian Army has in operation or on order?? I heard the DHQ Director of Media Operations, Maj Gen. Michael Onoja saying NA deployed their aircraft airwing and troops in association with NAF to root out terrorists and bandits across the country. So I'm wondering what aircraft was in use. I remember they ordered 12 MD Cayuse Helos sometime last year or so but don't know about deliveries. Iirc, the Hueys purchase was for the Airforce? |

abduleez1:For the NA arm aviation; they currently operate Bayraktar TB2, some sources claimed 43-46. But am not so sure or can comfirm this. Also we operate 2 Bell UH-1H "Huey" helicopters (NA 010 and NA 011) and they have ordered 12 MD Cayuse & Magnus MF-212 light attack and surveillance aircraft. And all of a sudden everything went quite with the procurement. |
