The audacity and temerity just off me. Who gives a tenant 2 weeks quit notice? The man should be made to pay for everything the tenant lost. He will know that Nigeria is not an animal kingdom.
This is the most absurd thing ever. Under the law you give 6 months notice. Where I was staying I stayed for free for 6 months before they removed the roof.

Though I don't support the Landlord for taking laws in his hands but I think we should be objective on this matter.

We should not be carried away by this emotional explanation of the tenant.

The lawyers are behind the scenes to change the narrative and implicate the landlord to allow the tenant continue to occupy the house.
occupied which house, the one without roof?

What you heard is the tenant's side of the story, you have not heard the landlord's side of the story undecided

The headline ought to be, Landlord arrested over tenant's inability to pay rent
wonder why tenants won’t pay rent, demanding 3 months or 6 months notice.
The tenant has the whole year to plan and pay your rent. If he’s not able to pay the next rent, he can ‘beg’ the landlord or better pack out.

Okay, if 3 months quit notice is given, can he pay that 3 months rent?

Some tenants assume the 3 months quit notice is /should be for free grin

Tenant has 12 months to pay or arrange how to pay for his rent.
In fact, the landlord need not remind him of the rent. It should be his responsibility.
It seems he has been giving the landlord troubles, and the landlord wants him out.
If he’s a ‘good’ tenant, the landlord wouldn’t be quick to issue quit notice.

Some tenants are mean and later will change the narrative to paint landlords black

You are wicked tenant!
How will you occupy one’s house for free for 6 months? I’m sure he’s a big man and doesn’t depend on that rent.

Quit notice period of 3 or 6 months is not supposed to be free. You use that period to arrange your things and find a new place, but should also pay those months’ rents

YOu miss the point, you are served this notice m ayB 6 months ago or 4 m onths ago, but the 7 days is the amount of time you are allowed to stay after the expiration of your rent, Do you understand now? People tend to think the way you do but this is wrong. So if your rent expires say 30th of June this year I can give you a 7 days notice today, so 7 days after the 30th of June you must vacate the flat Understood?

The landlord will pay more than ₦30m for his ignorance. The police go use am shine and he'll pay for damages.

Even a Quit Notice was supposed to give him time to find a new house.

You guys misunderstood the guy.

He was only trying to point wedar this is how landlords behave in ghana too!
He already knew the act or crime was committed by a ghana landlord in nigeria.
He just wanted to link it with ghana.

But the landlord will pay the tenant for damages.
Its the landlord that will lose more.
okoloto:
No smoke without fire. Some tenants can be wacko but the landlord is not smart.
At the end the tenant has been expressly removed. The landlord can pay for verifiable damage. The truth is that the tenant is out. He can't be staying in an open roof grin
We should understand in this country that landlords build rental apartment as business and not free lunch. The landlord also needs to survive. Roof over head is the second most important human need.

Lol damage ur own house because of tenants ? Abi now wooden house or something else!
Wait until those people from the east show you shege in your own house. My landlord gave one 6 to 9 months free, yet he was forced to pack the guys property one side and they later ended up at the police station where he accused the landlord of stealing his money.
