Good morning, I got a new replacement from spaceX via DHL for my faulty starlink and with this thread I noticed im suppose to return the faulty one, up till now there is no email about return, pls how do I go about it?
Wrong!

If you are meant to return old/faulty one, they would have told you in one of their correspondences to you ( like they did with me - ''You are not expected to return the old KIT'')

As long as you didn't receive any disposal instruction for your old kit, keep it and know that you can't sell nor dash it out u

Thank you for your response.

He resides in Lagos. Is there a way around the activation?

dammybrite:
Hi osic,

In my POV, purchasing the hardware is hardly the issue. The big elephant in the room is more about how to activate it with a proper subscription at Lagos/Abuja where the official website says there are at capacity.

If there is no return request you keep it but after activating new one the old one will be disabled permanently in due course

I got a Gen 3 replacement for my Mini. I'm to return the Mini when the Gen 3 arrives. Starlink already sent prepaid RMA shipping label for the Mini return to my mail. If you're not told to return your hardware, then you don't have to. If you're told to return it and you chose not to, you'd be charged for a full hardware fee.

My starlink mini setup.

Starlink mini ₦354,300
Mounting pole ₦15,000
10m cat 6 cable ₦7,000
Outdoor waterproof
Ethernet extender ₦30,000
Carpenter to fix mount ₦4,000

Sub-Total: ₦410,300

Residential plan ₦57,000 (deducted on day of activation)

Total: ₦467,300
I already have the ecoflow power station and the gl.inet router.

Been using it for over 10 days now, no issue whatsoever. When rain fell this week it was still working albeit a little bit slower.

Disabled as how ?
Was your old kit disabled by Starlink?
I think you can still use the old kit but it must remain within your account and name and you must pay double for subscription. I don't understand this disabled of a thing you are talking about. Have you seen anyone that his/her own was disabled?

After sometimes it will be removed from your account you can use the Router as extender though but you can't use the dish anymore

Check Ecoflow
That's what I currently use with my Starling. Eco flow Delta 2 and it lasts for about 11 hours powering it.
Re: My SpaceX Starlink Internet Experience In Lagos, Nigeria by afeeztyler(m): 12:25am On Feb 07
Starlink itself is waterproof, but to use the ethernet port with a regular cat 6 cable instead of the expensive starlink ethernet cable which has waterproof protection, it is better to use a waterproof ethernet cable extender (this is only for the starlink mini).

Why do you need an ethernet extender of 30k, is the ethernet cable you bought isn't long enough to connect directly from your starlink to your router indoor?
And as for the waterproof stuff. Buying that little waterproof stuff isn't really necessary. You can use those black rubber waterproof tape to seal that ethernet port space in the starlink. That aside, depending on how U slope the starlink when positioning it, water may not flow towards the direction of the ethernet port
Re: My SpaceX Starlink Internet Experience In Lagos, Nigeria by afeeztyler(m): 11:52am On Feb 07
It is not about water flow only in this case.

- First, even if you use a regular cat6 cable and just plug it in directly, to remove it later will be a struggle and you might even damage the port while doing so, and regular cat6 cable are not outdoor rated meaning the sun heat can damage them.

- The waterproof extender cable is not to stop water flow from entering, it is to prevent moist and also water that the wind will blow in its direction during rainfall.

I asked starlink YouTuber AYTechExcellent how my cable would look if I want to plug it in directly without issue, and he responded with the picture below, it means I would have to cut off some part of the cable head so it is easier to remove later on.
So I got the extender as recommended even by him (and other YouTube videos I watched) if you don't want to go through that trouble and risk.

After some times like how long ? days , months, years, decades or centuries?

Have you really seen anyone his/her old Starlink was disabled because of replacement of new kit, I want us to be as realistic as possible based on real life happening and not theoretical.

When i said Disabled (I mean Starlink remotely destroying, bricking and rendering the kit useless to never work again even if you reactivate the kit and want to make double subscription payments)

Connect the poe+ to starlink via Ethernet cable. Then poe+ to your access point.
Go to gdms.cloud to create an account. When they reply, you log in and add your access point to the cloud management. When successful, reset your device and it'll be managed by cloud and you can do all your settings as you wish from the cloud site or mobile app GWN.

I learnt it all from YouTube tutorials oh. You can search and watch videos there and get to know what to do. If I could, you will too very easily.
Long time boss, do you have issue of your Grandstream access point not opening certain app like Opay and JUMIA,have you experienced that with you access point?

Check the attached image and see the error message

It's from your source Internet. What you feed to the grandstream router is what it gives to public.
What is your source into the Grandstream? Starlink router straight or there's a router in between it and the grandstream?

Just checked, it's still not available to me even though I'm not really in Abuja but its outskirts (Karu, Nasarawa).

I'm even considering paying the one-time preorder deposit of 32k but it looks like I'll have to pay for the standard kit when capacity opens but what I want to go for is the starlink mini. Anyone that has used this option should please enlighten me.

Also, when I use Nasarawa, Nigeria as my location, starlink is available to me but when I use my live location it's not available. Can I just use Nasarawa, Nigeria as my location since I actually stay in Nasarawa?

Anyone that has a solution can help me please.

Since you live at Karu, try to see if there is availability in Keffi or the villages before Keffi. I think that distance should work.
