Till now I still can't figure out whether you believe most of these arguments you make here or you're just doing it for rage baiting purposes.

You've seen how things work over there, I don't understand how you can't want the same systems back home at all cost. It's almost like you enjoy the dysfunction back home. What’s worse is you always look for the worst examples to copy or the weakest excuses to justify failure, while deliberately ignoring the countless good examples where things are working. Good examples are everywhere, but somehow it’s only the bad ones that you want us to keep copying. It's baffling to say the least maybe that's why DonJ always goes crazy 😭

You have to be realistic with your situation. Because Mr A can do this thing does not mean Mr B can do the same. You have to evaluate your circumstances before you start comparing and doing. I am from a poor family, I cannot go to school and blow money like a Davido. If I do that, I will go broke quickly while Davido will continue living life without knowing any setback

Some countries have electric transport system, will you advocate the same for Nigeria at this point, when domestic household electric use is even epileptic. Nigeria has not solved basic needs we want to start the advanced ones. Have we sorted out the infrastructure needed to run the electronic transmission of votes? Ordinary JAMB CBT exams we are bungling it steadily, but na that election transmission which if bungled can light the country on fire we want, So we can pretend to be a nation doing the things first world, advanced technology societies are doing.

We don't have stable electricity, we have shaky internet, Network security is poor, we don't even have good roads, we cant even secure the country properly but na that electronic transmission is the next thing because we want to play Pretend firstworld

Its when you do not think holistically that leads to big elephant wastes the litter Nigeria.

A very good example is states building airports, If someone says airport is not the priority for Ebonyi, Ekiti state now, Someone like you will say "You are abroad, every state abroad has 10 airport why don't you want Nigeria to also be there, you justify dysfunction at home" .
Have they considered the situation of the states in Nigeria and how viable airports will be in some states? Its that type of thinking that led Osun Ekiti Ebonyi to be building airports, every state now has airports which they spent billions on but cant get traffic nor planes there. They are more likely to have cattle grazing in those airports than planes

Same thing can be said about Tinapa resort and many other white elephant abandoned projects

He's literally arguing for an election system that has failed(manual voting and transmission of results) to continue while bringing any excuse he can think of to argue against electronic transmission of results.

It's quite unfortunate.
Very unfortunate especially for someone in a society considered advanced

Tell us why you are afraid of electronic transmission.

Afterall 10 m people have registered electronically as APC members. But you don't want their votes cast to be transmitted electronically. Aren't you guys shameless?

This post is premised on false equivalence.

Electronic transmission has absolutely nothing to do with stable electricity.

I worked as presiding officer in the 2015 elections and BVAS was used. That particular device has a battery life that lasted from when accreditation started in the morning till voting ended later in the evening. When ballots were counted and results were documented in both ECA form manually and on the BVAS electronically, the device still had enough battery that can run it for several more hours. This is to tell you that there's already technology available that can be used for electronic transmission, it's not some white elephant project that will not be thought through before implementation as you are alleging up there.

All that is needed for real time transmission of result to the existing infrastructure is a stable internet system which I already pointed out to be available anywhere in Nigeria via star link. INEC has offices in almost all the LGA's in the country and NYSC posts corpers to almost all the 774 LGA's in the country. You can't tell me that star link cannot be procured for all INEC offices in both remote and cosmopolitan states for the execution of electronic transmission of results. INEC has a humongous budget for the election, let them spend it aright.

I see you made excuse of sub-contracting our internet services to Elon Musk may lead to foreign interference in our elections, but I take that as just an excuse for us to continue in the old ways that has continued to fail us and embarrass some of us who are still appalled at the abomination that happened in places like Rivers state in 2023. There's absolute no internet in the world that can't be compromised and u know that. All we are saying is we don't want to be seeing the kind nonsense we saw that happened in Rivers state when original result that were announced at the polling unit was later altered by the electoral officers at the time they were uploading to the INEC portal/database. I don't think anybody who claims to love Nigeria should have any problem with that.

I don't know about you, but results like the Rivers own which I uploaded below is embarrassing to some of us. I work with expatriates almost everyday and I get ashamed when we have reasons to talk about the ills in this country particularly how we've failed to get the simplest of things right.

Whatever infrastructure we don't have can be provided.

We aren't going to the moon. It's internet we are talking not interstellar travel.

Trillions of naira are spent every four years on mitigation of election matters. We can save all that by simply making an election transparent for once.

Why are you APC skunks afraid of free and fair elections?

This is funny and not funny at the same time.

I have always said it that a lot of what is happening in Northwest and recently north central has the handprint of Boko Haram, but we just chose to be referring to it as being perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen and bandits shwn they are not. Dem just dey give dem name as if that will sort the main issue and stop the killings.

all inec needs to do actually is give a contract to our local isps for provision of dedicated internet on election day
izzou has been all around naija and he can tell you which isps are regularly available in the farthest regions

Not compulsory internet because we know it can still fail, they can do intranet which will work uninterrupted unless the main source off.
At the end of the day, inec officers take the source to upload to cloud.
Life is not supposed to be hard in this country, we complicate little things because of individuals selfish interest.

if MTN has a contract to supply dedicated internet to inec for elections i am sure they will pull it off. the problem is in rural areas in nigeria where they may not have much footprint

They obviously know what they are doing.

Did they even engage the ISPs first to see that the infrastructure for those remote areas cannot be built? What is even the percentage of those remote areas affected?

That's why Internet might not work because those places with no service are the places of interest polithieficians steal votes and win the election.
If they really want to make this thing work they can do it

all of them APC, PDP, LP, ADC - they can allow for a nice looking election in the state capital city, but in the hinterland no one knows of, its game on
