Heard they killed the President General of my village yesterday.

Soludo wey carry sugar for mouth and Opeyemi Food critic voice dey talk up and down, meanwhile ignoring the basic issue of insecurity that has been there.
I'm not his fan but he has really done somethings to curb the insecurity that was out of hand in the state. The war against those native doctor ls and the subsequent arrest of the likes of Akwa, Ekehit etc has curbed alot of the horrible stories that was a usual daily occurrence. I'll give him credit for that.

Hopefully he also acts on this issue of cultism that is obviously another head of the insecurity monster.

Akwa and Eke Hit was just last year. Soludo is on his 5th run.

We have had insecurity before he came on board. The Unknown gunmen, etc. It was his tenure Late Dora's husband was killed and we didn't hear anything about the killers. It was his tenure that a HoR was beheaded, and nothing happened.

Compared to what the state has suffered, he has underperformed in insecurity

Late Dora's husband killers has been captured I think. I saw the video sometime last year. Well from the stories I see and hear, looks like the insecurity was fuelled by ndi odinana that was why he arrested the popular faces behind it.

This is pathetic. Someone is coming all the way from America to help your people but you want to steal from that person and deny your people the help that person is offering. Black Man! Tor lemme not say what's on my mind.

Petty.

Tell us why you are afraid of electronic transmission.

Afterall 10 m people have registered electronically as APC members. But you don't want their votes cast to be transmitted electronically. Aren't you guys shameless?
Electronic infrastructure are not reliable
You already see people alluding to it that in the remote areas internet service needed for transmission is not reliable

So what happens when network goes down and they are waiting for results or gets tampered with

So you Obidients who cannot win normally use the excuse to burn down the country

BAT didnt need to rig when Buhari the president and his inner caucus were against him. Na 2027 wey he go come rig

It was the opposition complaining. But in Nigeria it is the ruling party crying over the bill. What an irony
The point is the service needed is not reliable yet to put the future of the country on

When its mature we will use it

BlueRayDick:
This post is premised on false equivalence.

Electronic transmission has absolutely nothing to do with stable electricity.

I worked as presiding officer in the 2015 elections and BVAS was used. That particular device has a battery life that lasted from when accreditation started in the morning till voting ended later in the evening. When ballots were counted and results were documented in both ECA form manually and on the BVAS electronically, the device still had enough battery that can run it for several more hours. This is to tell you that there's already technology available that can be used for electronic transmission, it's not some white elephant project that will not be thought through before implementation as you are alleging up there.

All that is needed for real time transmission of result to the existing infrastructure is a stable internet system which I already pointed out to be available anywhere in Nigeria via star link. INEC has offices in almost all the LGA's in the country and NYSC posts corpers to almost all the 774 LGA's in the country. You can't tell me that star link cannot be procured for all INEC offices in both remote and cosmopolitan states for the execution of electronic transmission of results. INEC has a humongous budget for the election, let them spend it aright.

I see you made excuse of sub-contracting our internet services to Elon Musk may lead to foreign interference in our elections, but I take that as just an excuse for us to continue in the old ways that has continued to fail us and embarrass some of us who are still appalled at the abomination that happened in places like Rivers state in 2023. There's absolute no internet in the world that can't be compromised and u know that. All we are saying is we don't want to be seeing the kind nonsense we saw that happened in Rivers state when original result that were announced at the polling unit was later altered by the electoral officers at the time they were uploading to the INEC portal/database. I don't think anybody who claims to love Nigeria should have any problem with that.

I don't know about you, but results like the Rivers own which I uploaded below is embarrassing to some of us. I work with expatriates almost everyday and I get ashamed when we have reasons to talk about the ills in this country particularly how we've failed to get the simplest of things right.
Elections are the least embarrassing thing about Nigeria. We can list 10 things embarrassing and elections wont even make top 10.

A country whose people get killed in thousands per week, no water supply, road networks are bad, internet reliability is shaky, corruption is rife, hospitals are under equipped, JAMB CBT exams are compromised etc

These are day to day embarrassment that some countries dont even know it can still exist
But its election that is embarrassing you to foreigners?

That is another example of misplaced priorities. There are countries where elections do not even exist or are terrible compared to Nigeria but do not have those basic human problems

Few people under your post have even alluded to how unreliable internet are in rural areas but knowing all these we still want to put a potentially volatile exercise like elections on it so we can play like we are advanced when we dont even have water supply in any of the 774 LGAs in Nigeria

Whatever infrastructure we don't have can be provided.

We aren't going to the moon. It's internet we are talking not interstellar travel.

Trillions of naira are spent every four years on mitigation of election matters. We can save all that by simply making an election transparent for once.

Why are you APC skunks afraid of free and fair elections?
Governance is not about emotions. Its about being real with the reality on ground. We have had internet in Nigeria for over 30yrs but not about to reliably service the rural areas but its now under 12months to election that it can be provided

You think its just tomatoes that can be bought in the market and live we go

Again its not an emotional endeavor, it takes planning

all inec needs to do actually is give a contract to our local isps for provision of dedicated internet on election day
izzou has been all around naija and he can tell you which isps are regularly available in the farthest regions
Those local ISPs have had how many years which they have failed to provide reliable internet
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 1:33pm On Feb 07
iamoyindamola:
Not compulsory internet because we know it can still fail, they can do intranet which will work uninterrupted unless the main source off.
At the end of the day, inec officers take the source to upload to cloud.
Life is not supposed to be hard in this country, we complicate little things because of individuals selfish interest.
So we know internet can fail but we want to use the same internet that can fail to transmit elections where riots and killings have happened in the past because we want to pose like a developed country

inec has four years after each election to improve based on lessons learned
results from polling unit are not terabytes of data
the same nigerians all over nigeria including in the villages are sharing porn videos via whatsapp - but somehow, the bandwidth to upload polling unit results in real time is not available

two years is enough time for a serious organisation to plan.

if MTN has a contract to supply dedicated internet to inec for elections i am sure they will pull it off. the problem is in rural areas in nigeria where they may not have much footprint
So the rural areas that we have acknowledged might be problematic and the source of bulk votes is where we still want to run

We always think everywhere in Nigeria is Lagos. Every year, NYSC students discover places where civilization have never reached , where they are still walking naked etc but these places still deliver votes every election. So it's that environment we still want to depend on internet

Internet users in some places in the NW is less than 20% of adults. Its this NW that produces the highest number of votes. Yeah it totally makes sense to use internet dependent technology for an area with huge votes but little internet penetration

When izzou travels do you think he is going into the rural areas in Zamfara or Kebbi

There are places in Bauchi in 2004 where lorry can only get there 2 days in a week the other option is a 4hr Okada ride. There are places in Bauchi that same year where peiple walk naked and sticks are used to lock womens mouth because they talk too much
I am not sure it has changed now. You think izzou is going there? But all these places vote

MTN Glo Airtel that are in the business of providing internet have not done it in over 20yrs but you think 2yrs is enough to fix internet all over?

Ordinary travel within some places in Oyo state people will be having shaky internet never mind what goes on within Adamawa and Taraba villages

They obviously know what they are doing.

Did they even engage the ISPs first to see that the infrastructure for those remote areas cannot be built? What is even the percentage of those remote areas affected?

People that want to rig.
Those remote areas is where the votes come from. What percentage of Katsina state is urban yet it delivers one of the highest votes in Nigeria
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 1:52pm On Feb 07

Exactly
That's why Internet might not work because those places with no service are the places of interest polithieficians steal votes and win the election.
If they really want to make this thing work they can do it
BlueRayDick are you seeing this comment? Internet might not work where the bulk of votes come from but that's the exact thing we should use

when sanusi was cbn goveror - banks were mandated to have a very large atm footprint. it was an operational requirement. they all did it.

this is about political will. if inec/ northern governors/ NCC all put pressure on ISPs to make internet available across the entire north - they will do so.

rather than look for solutions you are falling to the tried, tested and trusted nigerian solution of throwing up your hands and saying - it cant be done.

They wait for where there is service to upload. Not that difficult

You saw the chats of the General killed for some time he was in an area without service he got to a network area before he shared his location which Boko Haram intercepted

Lagos state is laying fibre all across the state so that isps can tie into this rather then keep tearing up roads

it costs a lot to do this in lagos because lagos is built up. running fibre to villages in taraba is much cheaper as there is little infrastructure in the way. in the end , it is about political will. no sitting governor [APC, pdp, ADC, LP] will sign off on infrastructure that has the capability of truncating hinterland doctored results

10yrs after Sanusi left as CBN governor, only 12 states have more than 100 branches. So 24 states have less than 100 branches. These bank branches and ATM are also disproportionately located in the capital city what then happens to the other places not served by ATM? Are you surprised that many people in rural areas still dont have access to these internet and network dependent facilities

A sitting Governor who does not have a single good road in his state, where no hospital work, no drinking water, no transformer for electricity, that is where he will embark on fiber for ISP.

Lets say the governor of Kwara with the current challenges bring forward a budget to lay fiber all over Kwara state. What will you say about priorities

If I see such projects in Oyo state, I will curse out whichever governor thought of it in a country where treatment for snake venom does not exist
