❄️ NIGERIA CONTINUES WINTER OLYMPICS JOURNEY:

Team Nigeria is once again present at the Winter Olympic Games as competition begins in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy (Feb 6–22).

Nigeria first appeared at the Winter Olympics in 2018 and has maintained consistent participation through Beijing 2022 and now Milano-Cortina 2026, marking the country’s fourth straight outing at the Games.

The nation is represented by cross-country skier Samuel Ikpefan, competing in the men’s sprint classic and 10 km freestyle events. His participation makes him Nigeria’s first athlete to feature at two Winter Olympic Games.

His journey represents the steady expansion of Nigeria’s presence across global sporting platforms.

The National Sports Commission celebrates Team Nigeria and remains committed to supporting athletes competing on every international stage.

If you’re trying to make a case for our country’s sport administrators, you’re woefully wrong.

The improvements you’re seeing comes from individuals pushing hard for themselves. Our country’s administrators Im that sector have bleeped our athletes so bad that some of them had to defect to other countries to participate in competitions. Samuel Ikpefan (Cross-Country Skiing), the only Nigerian athlete who made it to this year’s Winter Olympics is primarily sponsored by Olympic Solidarity.

Not really. Football only needs an open field to be played while a major requirement for every spot in the Winter Olympics is snow. It doesn’t snow here.

While I understand what you mean, we must also consider that we have the most citizens in diaspora in the whole of Africa. Almost every Nigerian at least in the south knows someone in Europe or Canada. This is enough reason to participate as a lit of these people are dual citizens.
