Reports circulating on social media from Voice of Warri, a local media and gossip outlet based in Nigeria confirms the death of a woman identified as Madam Rita in Udu, Delta State, under controversial circumstances.

According to the reports, Madam Rita confessed to being involved in a long-running extramarital affair with her husband’s sales boy.

Sources cited by the outlet further alleged that she personally paid for hotel accommodations where the encounters took place.

The reports claim that Madam Rita later seriously fell ill and her condition deteriorated to the extent that she became extremely weak and emaciated.

It is further alleged that several hospitals were unable to diagnose or successfully treat the illness.

The narrative took a dramatic turn when, according to the same sources, she was eventually taken to a traditional healer.

The illness was attributed to ancestral punishment, said to have been triggered by her violation of cultural taboos surrounding marriage.

In some traditional belief systems, particularly in certain communities, adultery by a married woman is considered a serious offence believed to attract severe spiritual or ancestral consequences.

The reports suggest that Madam Rita’s illness and eventual death were linked to such beliefs.

This matter is deep. These things happen, but the real question is: "Is it truly spiritual?"

If there is a way to prove these things, then men really need to be very careful who they marry. Many times, it is the husband and the innocent kids that suffer the consequences more than the wives.

Another big question is: Why does it only happen in the villages and not in the towns? Is there a special "network" or circumstance that triggers these things in rural areas? All these are still mysteries that no one has been able to unravel yet

Besides this lady was diagnosed and they couldn't find anything.

Chai. We keep telling them, but they won’t hear . There are customs and traditions that one must abide with no matter how woke, learned or exposed you are especially in Delta state o. Delta state frowns at infidelity especially on the part of the wives. Some parts of yorubas do too especially with the “Magun” or thunderbolt stuff. Delta own be say na the husband or the woman pikin go suffer the consequences o.

I know of a rich married man that is fond of sleeping with of all kinds of ladies both married and unmarried. Many warned him but he refused. When his wife died he remarried 2 more wives and still accelerated his adulterous activities.
