NAPTIP Rescues Iraq-Bound Trafficking Victims In Kano by adenigga(op): 4:46am On Feb 12
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has announced the rescue of seven young women from a suspected human trafficking ring following a raid on a hotel in Sabon Gari area of Kano state.

The raid was carried out by the Kano Zonal Command of the agency, after acting on credible intelligence.

According to NAPTIP Zonal Public Relations Officer in Kano, Mohammed Habib, their operatives stormed the hotel on Thursday and freed the victims, aged between 21 and 24.

Two suspects were also arrested during the operation.

Habib said investigations revealed that the victims were trafficked from the southern part of the country, with Kano being used as a transit point before onward movement to Baghdad in Iraq for labour exploitation.

According to NAPTIP officials, the victims disclosed that they were sponsored by a woman identified as the prime suspect, working in connivance with a man who is currently at large.

The arrangement required them to repay all expenses incurred, with profit, after working in the destination country.

The rescued victims, according to the PRO, are currently under NAPTIP custody in Kano, where they are receiving counselling and rehabilitation.

The zonal command spokesperson said upon completion of investigations, the suspects would be prosecuted.

The agency reiterated its commitment to dismantling trafficking networks and urged communities to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.

"Rescued" them?
They were not captured. They are not underage.
These are grown Oloshos willing to walk through the Sahara desert and swim through the Mediterranean just to go and do the dirtiest of jobs/prostitution in any other country.

In most cases, these ladies are told what they're going to do in these countries and in their desperation, they will accept to go on with the "job". How many times have the government and other NGOs warn these ones of the dangers of these trips and yet they go..

Libya, Egypt, Tunisia. It used to be Italy, France, Spain etc. Now it is Iraq, Mali, Ghana even Niger!
Not sure they want to be rescued.
We have to accept that we have a generation of desperate ladies that have basically ran wild..

Not all jobs there are exploitation. Some are genuine housemaid jobs which many are doing and are successful. Some are also construction companies, they might be harsh on blacks but it doesn't mean it won't favor everybody. Some well-to-do girls in Nigeria now went there and made their wealth.

Did they know they were being trafficked to become prostitutes?

Most often, they are told they would become domestic servants.

If Nigerians wants to end trafficking, FG should take decisive action on force men involved.
No successful trafficking will take place in Nigeria's international airports without the help of immigration, airport police, custom FAN and even NAPTIP.

It's real. I know a woman who is in Dubai now doing housemaid job. She will finish paying her debt next year and her children can't wait to begin to enjoy the fruits from that labor.

This venture favors Muslim women the most because their religion make their host more accepting of them.

There are many instances though where they were met with harsh treatments from their masters and it even led to their deaths and nobody is held accountable.
Re: NAPTIP Rescues Iraq-Bound Trafficking Victims In Kano by Onegai(f): 11:46am On Feb 12
Their final destination was most likely not Iraq, they're using Iraq to enter the country of their choice through a land border or by air. So they were most likely heading to UAE, Qatar or Saudi Arabia.

As Libya route is now too risky for them, they've opened up a new route.
