You keep praising defenders of that era. You failed to realise football simply evolved gradually. There were no longer useless needs for aggressive tackles. Many defenders even today can tackle aggressively like those ones you mentioned but football has simply evolved. Leg breaking tackels are needless and unwise. .

Messi also played against people like pepe, vidic, ramos, Nigel dejong, chielini, cordoba. It's nobody's fault R9 was breaking bones like brisket. It's nobody's fault he wasn't fit enough.
