Even before this shit there has not been consistent electricity supply even with the banding thing with the minister of power always talking trash as usual. Many have been running alternate power source for reliable light supply.
Lies. I'm on Band A and light has been very stable.

Because you guys pay a cost reflective tarrifs, so you get priority

No light in 3 days angry

I'm ready to vex

Nigeria keeps frustrating new investors. I know this because an American company wanted to come in some years ago and they ran away.

Our levels of corruption are mind-boggling. Contracts that should have at least 20% indigenous ownership, will be made to be crony capitalism, squeezed until youe unsure of profits and constant threats upon your head if you don't comply; and how you'll be worried your investment will go to waste.
You must be living in a Nigeria 🇳🇬 different from the one that exists in the lootocracy minds of APC propagandist liars o. grin

When you Nigerians pay a cost reflective tarrifs , power supply will improve.

It's because you pay a cost reflective tarrif in the gsm sector and because you don't have the equivalent of bypassing your meter in the gsm sector that you have enough internet and telephone service .At least much better than 30 years ago

I remember that morning in 2013, when I was watching Jonathan Ebele on TV handing out certificates, & I was wondering who are these people this man is handing over our electricity infrastructure to?
He was handing it to people who were willing to take a risk and invest in power

But to keep all of you happy and glad , he also passed laws that prevented them from charging cost reflective tarrifs for power

By 2019, power companies were losing 30 naira per kwh of power sold. Today it's around 60-100 naira. Except for band A

You claim tinubu is different, yet he has maintained the same polices on power as GEJ. With the same results.

The investments are failing because forcing companies to charge at a loss usually results in failure. And lack of further investment

Why can't your man follow the example of ivory coast and Ghana?

Try go solar...even if 800va for only lights,Tvs and fans...to depend on empty promises and @$$lick1n of their disciples is a huge waste of time.

Meanwhile Fashola openly ridiculed GEJ and told Nigerians that providing electricity wasn't rocket science. Tinubu told Nigerians to stone him and his ilk if he doesn't provide the country with steady electricity. Yet, here we are. The national grid has suffered more collapse in recent years than those sandy houses built by kids in the early '80's

Truly Nigeria is a perfect definition of a hell hole.

A disaster called a country.

The British shall pay a heavy for their crimes in the making of a country called Niger area.

nairalanda1:
Well, the problem with privatizing Nepa was that the government introduced price controls

This meant that discos essentially charged prices for power that made them lose money.

Until the band a came on board, discos lost at least 20-50 naira per unit of power sold for every consumer. When band a came , discos only made a profit from 20% of consumers , and made a loss from the rest.

That's why no serious investors are coming . No one is going to invest in a sector where most people are underpaying and where government is struggling to pay the subsides for the losses made

And for iwaeda and raccoon, the same thing will happen under an obi presidency unless he is ready to do differently from the useless apc and ensure that everyone pays a cost reflective tarrifs. Same for the apc supporters here too. Your man tinubu is strangling the power sector with subsides and price controls.
you lied. Band a is subsidizing the power for the others. A kilo watts is not upto 200 naira

Band A can't subsidisze the others, otherwise government won't be looking for money for subsides.

Whoever told you that band A can susbidsze the others is telling very tall tales.

And the useless people will still bring inflated bills.
If my son becomes a police officer I will have no problem because I know the system and from that day he has declared publicly he is my enemy.
But is he join NEPA I will swear for him and disown him as not part of my family.
What nonsense.
Police are better than NEPA staffs.

Very foolish group of people, fine-tuning it as if it's not always been this way, even before now; it's always been like this across the nation.

The inflated bills ripoff happens because when most people don't pay, the power sector sometimes overcharges paying consumers to survive

Trying to enforce payment on people who don't pay often times leads to disco workers being attacked with weapons and fists.

We are yet to get it right in the power sector.
The privatisation of NEPA didn't consider technical competence, but political business minded people, who had virtually nothing to offer than to continue strangling innocent citizens of their sweat.
New investors need to be brought into the sector.
Thank God, states now have the right to generate their power separately.
Unfortunately,we are in a country where national grid now collapses all the time.
E get any part we don get right

I can't remember the last time I saw 24 hours power in Nigeria from NEPA, even in my childhood.

Food for thought.
