Woman Shares How She Was Arrested After Friend's Sudden Death In Her Home (Video by emmalezy(op): 11:27am On Feb 14

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgYOAgDlmVY

In a deeply emotional video that's been making rounds on social media, Lagos resident Nwachukwu Nkemjika opened up about a traumatic experience that left her fighting to clear her name. The young woman recounted how a close male friend visited her home, only for tragedy to strike when he suddenly passed away. What followed was a nightmare of accusations, arrest, and over a month of silence as she battled to prove her innocence.

Speaking through tears in the viral Facebook clip, Nkemjika described the incident: "A friend of mine came to my house, and they accused me of being responsible because he actually died. This is how it happened..." She explained that authorities quickly pointed fingers at her, leading to her arrest and detention. For more than 30 days, she chose not to speak publicly, focusing instead on defending her reputation amid the heartbreak and scrutiny.

The video, which has garnered thousands of views and reactions, captures Nkemjika's raw pain and frustration. "I've been silent, no explanations because I was fighting for my name," she said, her voice breaking with emotion. The incident has sparked discussions online about wrongful accusations and the emotional toll they take on individuals.

Nkemjika's story highlights the challenges many face in similar situations, where grief is compounded by suspicion and legal hurdles. She emphasized that the friend was someone she cared about deeply, making the loss even more devastating.

That’s why some stories we hear about people dying in another persons apartment is not all ritually motivated..Some people can’t tell the police cause they know how they operate that’s why they either bury or slice the person up to cover..A girl fainted in my house for up to 30mins,I almost ran mad..

Which kind of a friend dies in a friend's house? 😕 He was not your friend, he was just another enemy in disguise.

No be Nigerian police before?
I remember a number of years ago when my girlfriend then collapsed in the toilet. For over 15 minutes, she was unresponsive. I thought she had died. Nothing I did to revive her worked. I had to go and call a neighbours wife to come and witness the situation while I brought out my phone and was taking a video. Not that I had hope that the video will exonerate me but a lot was going through my mind then.
Thankfully, the lady jerked back to life and as relieving as it was, I kept videoing her while I gave her a second phone to get her to call her sister which she did. Once she had narrated all that happened to her sister and I knew I was in the clear, I arranged some transport for her, packed her things and threw her out of my apartment.

I don't have time for familiarising myself with police. There is nothing you will say that anyone will believe you. You will pay for autopsy and toxicology reports, you will pay for the toxicologist and you will still be paying police. If the toxicology reports still clear you, the family will still insist that you pay for the burial and because you want to leave police detention, you will pay for that.

By the time you are through with all these and you are out, everybody in your street will still forever look at you as the person that killed someone in his house and if you stubbornly refuse packing from that area, every morning, you will wake up cursing your gbola for the trouble it put you in.

Nothing bad being arrested. You were the first suspect.

Imagine if it was the girl that died in the man's house!

The way the family was quick to accuse her of murder was wrong ! She should end her friendship with the late man’s twin sister and end any relationship with the entire family.

Even now, only God knows the truth.

Crying and being emotional does not exonerate her.

I remember a day when a bad friend of mine knocked my door at about 12.30am, I opened and allowed them in not knowing they were coming from the hospital where they did an abortion.

Before 5am my guy ran away and she started shouting that she will die.

Long story short, the abortion was for a 5 months old foetus.

I personally brought out the dead baby from her privates.

It was an horrible experience that I don't want to go back to.

The idiot switched off his phone.

Neighbours were already suspecting me because of the noise coming out from my apartment.

They were even monitoring me so I won't run away.

I had to play very loud music to overpowered her screaming.

My mattress was soaked in blood.

He came back by past 3pm and was begging.

Nigerian government really need to upgrade all our medical centres to be able to carry out appropriate medical autopsy So the the police can always know what really happened to a deceased under 48 hours at least. This can happen to anyone. We see people dying on the road in public places what more someone dying in someone's else house .

You are too emotional.

While I'm not pinning it on her, some people will even show more emotions for a crime they commit.

For legal purposes, that doesn't matter. What the police ought to do in these cases is be speedy with autopsy. After that, as long as there is no EVIDENCE of wrongdoing and you can't build a case of murder, you let the person go.

People die of natural causes all the time. So the fact that someone dies in your house does mean you killed them and should be held indefinitely or sent to jail.
