At this point, it's better to delete the adjective "secular" and replace it with the more appropriate adjective "theocratic" in our Constitution.

Enough of the pretense and self-delusion!

Nigeria is NOT a secular state but, an unabashed theocratic state.

If Nigeria, said to be a secular state, could be compelled to change its "national" calendar to suit primordial religious interests, so, what is secular about Nigeria?

Atiku is merely pandering to the gallery, grasping for anything to relaunch his dwindling political career and pose as religiously pious, selling himself as a champion of democracy. In reality, he comes across as a serial election loser with weak ideological footing, simply labouring in vain.

Do you really think it's about the voters? How about the INEC officials. Do you know they sleep a day before the election at the place where they get the electoral materials.

Do you really know the stress involved for the electoral officials? Almost the entire night sorting and arranging materials.

Many who observe Lent do so quietly without putting it on display like some of their Muslim counterparts. You and your likes are the original bigots who read religious meaning into everything and turn it into unnecessary division.

Nigeria is a secular state whose constitution supercedes any other law or authority within its boundaries. However, since it will hold during a fasting period, it will aid Muslims in voting right.

For elections, they'll just stay at home with the excuse that they don't want the stress.

Or why do you think the Northern states close schools and ministry early during Ramadan?
Was it not last year that a state in the North closed schools for the entire stretch of the fasting citing harsh weather conditions etc.
How then do you think such people will easily come out to vote during Ramadan?

That's out current reality now, and Atiku is right.

It's one day or two which they can make up for if they want. Even in the middle east where the religion is from, life goes on. Doctors work, students school, business continues, shift workers move on. Only lazy people give lazy excuses.

How many lent have you observed since it started? Atiku is right we Muslim are dedicated to our religion not other wise we don't joke/ fake our things.We respect Ramadan and we observed it with total dedication.

He is a Christian and the election falls in Lent so that argument has no meaning
From 10 February to 25 March either Christians or Muslims will be fasting

Clearly you are a bigot

The law does not give much choice unless maybe they bring it to this year 2026 or push if to April while handover is May

Even bringing it to this year eg December will cause issues with. Chris. To do that there will be need for a change in law
Mind you such a law change will likely trigger a court case and a backlash against Muslims

According to constitution

Early boundary: ~ November 1, 2026 (150 days before ~May 29 2027)

Late boundary: ~ April 29, 2027 (30 days before ~May 29 2027)

When do you think Muslims begin their fasting? They eat their suhoor at dawn and then Break their fasting at sunset. So yeah, it shouldn't pose much of a problem
