This should be a lesson to men who meet women online and hastily engage in carnal relationships. Not everything that glitters is gold. Be cautious, think clearly, and don’t let desire override wisdom.

Good day Nairalanders, I need sincere advice.
I met a lady called Chinelo on TikTok around November 2024. We later moved to WhatsApp and became close. She is from Anambra State, I am from Delta State, and she stays in Asaba.

During the Christmas period, I suggested she visit me, but she insisted that I should come to Asaba instead. After some arguments, I agreed.

I travelled to Asaba on December 24. We met around the Coca-Cola area, stayed together in a hotel for about five days, and I later returned home.

About one week later, she told me she was pregnant for me. I was surprised but asked her to go for a pregnancy test and even offered to send money for it. She refused, which made me uncomfortable, so I decided to end the relationship.

About a week after the breakup, she sent me a message saying she would soon get married to another man and mocked the pregnancy issue. I congratulated her, after which she blocked me.
A few days later, she unblocked me and we chatted briefly. She later asked if I could come to Asaba so we could have s*x one more time. I refused, and she blocked me again.

On Sunday, February 1, someone messaged me saying they were looking for her and asked if I had seen her. I thought it was a prank but still shared the little information I had.

Out of concern, I later messaged her younger brother to ask if it was true that they were looking for her. He responded angrily and told me not to message him, so I blocked him.

This morning, I received a WhatsApp message from someone claiming to be her mother, accusing me of kidnapping her daughter. She threatened me with deities, said she has my picture, demanded that I return her daughter within one week, and said I would pay back everything collected from her daughter double.

No police has contacted me. I am only receiving threats via WhatsApp.

For clarity:
I have not seen her since December
I do not know her current location
I did not kidnap anyone
I am only being threatened online

Please, I need advice:

What is the best step to take immediately?

Should I report this at the police station now?
That's not her mother that messaged. She arranged a woman to extort you. Bone them with deity nonsense.. Your hands are clean so you have nothing to worry about

Write a petition to the Commissioner of Police in the state you are domiciled. Your complaint should be based on threat to life, defamation of character and conduct likely to cause the breach of peace. When you are requested to make statements to the police, print out all the conversations that played out while the drama is playing. That will serve as a buffer and a fall back should your potential "in-laws" decide to make your 2026 start in a funny note......
If fyn gurl nor send you to jail innocently, then our prayers for your head dun work....moni wey u for send give your relatives to lavida for Christmas time, you carry am go waste for hotel with who wan kpai you.....I nor blame you too much sha,na so dem so Sampson that year wey dem nor born you.......

someone like me won’t even have time to write all those messages or explain too much if I was clean…I may not even reply, that will still give them the moral to write nonsense messages.
Just go to the police station

Bro, I believe you.
As for the kom-kom girl and her gutter mother, they're fraudsters and I'll recommend you use them to make an easy money off cyber bullying and cyber stalking.
Find a good lawyer and a guyman police, pick them up and let them have a day in court to prove how you kidnapped their daughter.

You'll make free money from the damages they'd pay.

You remember the magistrate that ordered that OS girl to pay that guy x10 of the transport money she chop?
The judiciary is the last hope of the common man. Use it. Set an example.

And kudos, I like your gut. Na original man you be for calling out the bullshit the supposed mother tried to sell to you.

Stop beating about the bush. If you are sure of yourself, why delay with reporting to the police. Kidnapping is a very serious matter. Get to the police, clear yourself, before you are tracked and embarrassed.

I don't know how people just take foolish risks this day and age despite all the shit happening everywhere. You left your place n visited a lady in another place, lodged in a hotel n slept with a stranger probably without protection for 5 whole days, how do you guys do these things? Now she comes with a phantom pregnancy and even requested you do another round of sex.
Those people are probably blackmailers hoping to milk you dry because of your foolish encounter with that girl.
Next time you may not be so lucky.

You are making a big mistake, it's a set up from all the family members to make money out of you, stop contacting them, it will make you look suspicious and panicking, they will take advantage of you, your best bet is go to the Police HQ, state CID precisely and incident the case, the police will call them for clarification, watch and see how they will stop contacting you.
