Advice Needed: Lithuania Relocation Offer + Visa Red Flags by yalo1234(op): 8:31am On Feb 15
Hi everyone,

I need honest advice and any real-life experience if you have it.

I recently received a software engineering job offer through a Latvia-based recruitment agency.
They are acting as a recruitment/vendor company, and for a final client, which is a very popular broadcasting company, and I am to relocate to Lithuania

However, the relocation/visa plan they proposed is raising serious concerns.

Their Plan (as explained verbally, not written in the job offer, just communicated via call)

They said I should:

1. Enter Lithuania / Schengen on a business visa
2. After arrival, “transition” into a digital nomad visa

My Concern (the real issue)

I understand people sometimes immigrate through irregular pathways, and that is not even my biggest concern.

My main fear is this:

> There are documented reports of Africans being lured out of Africa with job offers, then being trapped or coerced into the Russia/Ukraine war.

So I am trying to confirm:

- Is this kind of war-related recruitment mainly happening on the Russian side?
- Is there any known pattern of people being lured into the Ukrainian army, too?
- They claim they “can’t do a normal work visa” because they are **B2B** and a recruitment agency.

If anyone has advice or experience, please share.

I’m just trying to stay safe but dont want to lose an opportunity through paranoia.

Thanks.

Your relocation is verbal and not documented? You are probably being set up for disappearance.

Yes, other than the invitation letter that I insisted they send, which I submitted for my visa, nothing else about the relocation is documented

Nigeria has it's problems but being held at ransom in a foreign country can be a far greater challenge

So, you don't have a documented job offer from a registered company in Lithuania?

If not, I must commend you for being fearful. It's very wise of you.

I have the job offer and service agreement. The immigration part is where things are vaguely documented. They provided a letter of invitation after much pressure from me, which I gave to immigration. My issue is why be vaugue about documenting the via process

I dont want to post their name online without being sure of anything first, I know the circumstance is mad doggy, but what if it's being wrongly interpreted?

I can, however, message you privately with way more details. I can respond if you send me an email, or if you are comfortable posting your email here, I will send more details with actual names and recruiter profiles on LinkedIn
Post the recruiter details here openly, there is no need asking people to email you for private chat.

If this is a genuine agency then there is no issue as they profile and feedbacks will be a public record.

Until you do that i suggest that people should be careful dealing with you

Oga I never asked anyone for anything that raises suspecion. I cant just post people's details openly without being sure. I dont think that's right. You yourself think about it, I just post everything about them here and it gets to them. Please tell me what exactly I am doing here that makes people to be careful dealing with me. Me thats openly asking for advice. Please think before you start accusing. I am even the one coming here saying I am not sure and asking for advise, I should start posting people's linkedIn in the open... the way some people behave online is funny.

There no recruitment agency that does their business only in private, if they have a linkedIn profile then they are public.

You asking people to email you so as to give more details about this company is highly suspicious.

I still suggest that people should deal with you cautiously

The letter you were given, was it in English ? That should be a document given easily.

You're the one being funny.
Why would a recruitment company be concerned about being private.

A recruitment firm that you had to beg for invitation letter? What exactly were they inviting you to in the letter? What business reason would the letter have

Yet you're concerned about the privacy of a recruitment agency that told you via a call that you can NOT process normal work visa

Latvia recruitment agency for Lithuania based company.

Why would a job that needs you then leave you to handle how you get there?
If you are such an ideal candidate why isn't the company handling your immigration

Op you're already been sold and bargain for, it only only a matter of time that you will see end of road for your life.

Imagine stupiid desperation, a reputable company as you mentioned offer you a job and ask you to go apply for tourist schengen visa? Rubbish.

Bro when leaving remember to say the last goodbye to friends and family, because you're gone

Please I need advice on this 🙏 I have these countries on my list I wish to relocate to one with my wife for a better life, where we can live and work and still have good savings at the end of every month and live peacefully.

1 UK

Netherland is still the best among the listed but hard to enter from Nigeria. I'd suggest you start with Japan.(Easy for immigrant, hustle, more opportunities especially if you're a biz oriented) Spend some years there and transition to your ideal country. Forget Canada and UK hype for now unless you have the fund or planning your retirement but if you're still agile and want to hustle, chose the formal good luck!
