Iamoyindamola, Blueraydick and co, how una dey take enjoy binge-watching all una series? The thing no dey sweet me at all.

Most times, it's like i'm racing through the series. The episodes just blur in together and I'm struggling to separate them individually. I like to soak in and marinade my TV shows. Like days after watching an episode, I'm still going over it in my head. Breaking down scenes and discovering stuff you would normally have missed while watching at first. It makes the viewing experience more enjoyable. Binge watching makes that almost impossible.

The best analogy for Binge-watching is rushing a good meal instead of taking your time to savour it.
You mean you like watching an episode for a week to understand it?
I will rather watch all episodes then start imaging the plot holes and the highlights of the shows that is why I wait for season finale before watching.

Not like for a week literally. I mean watching as in really 'watching', not just finishing one episode and rushing on to the next.

When I binge-watch a TV show, I tend not to remember some scenes and which episodes they occur in and these memory blanks don't make me enjoy it as much as I should.

I know it's just a TV show, and not some work/assignment but I dey like maximise my enjoyment when I dey watch.

How many series you fit dey watch at the same time? I'm currently on 3 and it feels heavy. Different genres though.

I align with the emboldened but I blame not Davido but his lawyers.

Many lawyers are dishonest people and are not always forthright with their clients. They'd gass their clients up and spin a completely hopeless case to make them feel like they'd win so they can open office on their heads., and that's what I suspect has happened here.

Now make we check am.

🔸Imade is 11 years old, and she has lived with her mum since she was born. Sophia has been her primary caregiver and only permanent presence in her life.

🔸Imade lives and schools permanently in Lagos. She has a stable home-life, has built a life filled with relatives and friends in this familiar environment.

🔸Davido on the other hand does not have a permanent home-base. He has two home bases, Lagos and Atalanta, and his time is split between the two places.

🔸Even when he's in Nigeria, he spends an extended amount of time travelling and performing in shows, recording in studio, attending events, going clubbing etc

🔸So when he's away doing all these stuff, who will be parenting Imade? Shey na nanny, or his extended family members/relatives?

🔸The truth is Imade needs hands-on parenting and Davido would have been an absentee parent. He is neither equipped or has the time to give his daughter hands-on parenting.

🔸Davido has always had visitation rights. I've seen videos of Davido taking Imade on outings so I'm certain the visitation rights were not restrictive and supervised, other than not being able to travel with Imade.I consider this to be very reasonable terms. That is enough.

🔸The joint custody suit was an ego trip and should never have been filed. It emanated from his bruised ego of being prevented from travelling with Imade by Sophia and her uncle Dele Momodu years ago but he should have gotten over that hurt by now.

🔸Davido lawyers no do well. The case should have been quietly withdrawn long before now cos there was no way an unbiased judge would have granted Davido joint custody.
This life no balance. If e abandon the pikin just dey send money same people will call him deadbeat

Didn't D'banj also lose his child in similar circumstances? Was he and his wife not together. The fact that people pretend the average toddler is not trying to kill themselves every other day is very wicked

The way everyone was mocking David I just dey look. Make I catch same people dey yab any deadbeat them go hear am.

It's my belief that any woman that puts any kind of obstacle to you being with your child is clearly viewing you as a sperm donor and wanted to be a single mom all along.

Send money and focus on your new family. He's even fortunate say na girl, let her stay with the mother. If say na boy nau I can understand fighting tooth and nail to provide that male leadership in his life

Nobody will call Davido a deadbeat, we still saw videos of him and Imade on an outing 2 weeks ago splashed all over the internet.

From all Indications, Davido has always had access to the child, but he wants joint custody. He wants a situation where he can have the girl to himself either in America or Nigeria on a stretch of days without the mother being able to say no (because the courts granted him that right) The child's mother doesn't want that for reasons best known to her. She wants him to make do with having access to her anytime he's around like he's been doing.

Davido actually deserves the lady shutting off his custody suit considering how he tried to run off with the child while she was still a baby. If not for Dele Momodu being influential, Davido would've flown out of the country with the child with his sister posing as her mum.

Davido is not a saint in this matter at all. Did he expect the baby mama will forget that incident and hand him custody 10 years after?

You no sabi people sha. Something they were calling photo ops.

Why are we pretending these people fight fair?

David had his initial Bleep up fair but suggesting David never have custody of his child even when she's approaching teenage years when she is less and less requiring of mother's care is wrong. Visitation can never ever equate with having that child under your roof

All I'm saying is we have to pick a side. We can't slander the men that are aloof on these matters and also slander the men that fight for custody of their children

David has a good heart though naive and overzealous. A lot of men will fall back and focus on their other family completely. Women need to realize that they are hurting the child and not the man when they play these games

There's this Russian guy on TikTok by the name yaytseslav_official whose content is centered mainly on him meeting random African girls at an aafrican store or on the streets; he approaches them to tell them they look good and from their either collect their number or show them wads of cash and ask them to follow him to his apartment.

Most of the ladies almost always follow him with little or no persuasion. They would show up at his crib and feel relaxed like it's no big deal.

Omo, watching the video just gives a cringe of low self esteem from those African ladies. More like they just assent to the guy's unorthodox approach without much thought simply because he's white. One can tell that they would've been vexed if a fellow black had approached them in such condescending manner no matter how cute he may be.

The guy literally records them for his own amusement and post their videos on his social media for views. 😭😭
Lmaoo. Na today

I'm always surprised when I hear about white incels. If you're a white man that takes a shower and small money to not be a hobo you will run through Black women like sonic coins.

All that talk about how we treat oyinbo women better is all projection. They love white 🍆 all while shaming milk men.

When Travis Kelce dumped that Bussdown it was worldwide wailing by them. They spent months hating Travis and Taylor Swift. Some said he fumbled her to get with average milk. The delusion grin

Iamoyindamola I noticed that almost all those streaming apps that have great shows Ike HULU, Paramount , peacock, HBO Max , etc don’t have services available to Nigerians except for just Netflix and Prime Video.

Is there any particular app one can download on a smartTV with little or no ads issues that will make most of the great shows available to one for streaming ?

I use LG smartTV .

Exactly, I was very surprised at people's take on the matter, especially for Naija where on a norms Sophie shouldn't be in position to dictate custody, no man would subject himself to a court battle for joint custody if they have good access to their child, you think Sophie wouldn't use access to the child to spite Davido & Chioma? Especially seeing that Davido cares for the child.

Good to see someone else sharing similar sentiments, I was starting to thinking maybe its me being bias having experience similar in close quarters.

He wasn't seeking full custody, but joint custody for his child who he foots the bill, Naija must have becomed more westernised cos I grew up with that as a given for men in Nigeria.

A lot of these babes just dey find sperm donor. Nothing really consign them with say father dey the pikin life unless they are financially struggling that's when they start announcing that he's a deadbeat. A lot of them talk like semen is not essential in a child's conception

Using the drowning of a toddler is diabolical work. One would think children have never died under the care of single mothers before, If the girl was a toddler I wouldn't even side with David cos any child under 7 needs the mum more than the dad tbvh so even if the court denies him custody e no too matter.

However past 10 there's a level of independence a child has from the mother and actually needs to be around the father more, especially if na boy. Visitation can never suffice for that

David is a better man than me, I am not going to no court over my own child. Like say court dey when e dey impregnate Sophia. Doesn't he have like 4 other kids? Sheiit. I wish I would. The money wasted on lawyers rather keep it and spoil the other kids I have access to, If you don't want me to have joint custody, congrats you've signed up to be a single mom while I focus on starting another family. The other kids deserve an emotionally stable dad

I will have to charge it to the game that I gave my seed to a wicked woman and move on because only a wicked woman puts any type of obstacle on a man being with their kid (wtf parenting can you parent a child with visitation)

Public reactions to celebrity disputes often blur the line between sympathy and legal reality. The ongoing social media rants connected to the child custody dispute between Davido and Sophia Momodu offer a useful lens through which to examine how Nigerian courts actually approach custody matters.

The core lesson is simple but uncomfortable: the law is not emotional. It is structured, evidence-driven, and primarily concerned with one overriding factor, the best interest of the child.

1. Custody Disputes Are Determined by Evidence, Not Public Sympathy

In family law proceedings, public opinion is irrelevant. Courts do not decide custody based on who appears more sympathetic online, who trends on social media, or who receives more public support.

Instead, the court evaluates:

• The stability of each parent

• Involvement in the child’s life

• Emotional and psychological environment

• Financial responsibility and consistency

• Overall conduct of each parent

A parent may feel deeply wronged or emotionally justified, but unless those feelings translate into legally relevant facts, they carry little weight in court.

2. Social Media Rants Can Become Legal Evidence

One of the most overlooked risks in custody disputes is the legal consequence of public statements. When parties make emotional outbursts online, those statements can be tendered in court to question judgment, temperament, and decision-making capacity.

In custody litigation, opposing counsel is not concerned with optics; they are concerned with leverage. Every post, comment, or rant becomes potential material for cross-examination.

This is why experienced legal practitioners routinely advise clients to avoid discussing ongoing disputes publicly. Once words are published, they cannot be withdrawn from the evidentiary landscape.

3. The Lawyer’s Duty: Preparing Clients for Cross-Examination

A competent custody lawyer does more than file processes and argue in court. A crucial part of representation is psychological preparation. Clients must be made to understand that cross-examination in custody matters is intense, strategic, and sometimes emotionally uncomfortable.

The purpose of cross-examination is not to comfort a party; it is to test credibility, consistency, and parental suitability. Questions may probe:

• Past conduct

• Emotional reactions to stressful events

• Parenting decisions

• Lifestyle choices

• Stability during personal crises

Preparation ensures that a client does not become reactive, defensive, or contradictory under questioning.

4. The Cold Principle: Relevance Over Emotion

One of the harshest truths in custody litigation is that emotionally painful events may still be raised in court if they are considered legally relevant. The legal system does not operate on sentiment, it operates on probative value.

If a past event, tragedy, or conduct is argued to affect parental stability, coping mechanisms, or the child’s welfare, opposing counsel is legally permitted to bring it into issue. This is not cruelty, it is litigation strategy within the bounds of evidentiary relevance.

The courtroom is not a space where emotional sensitivity overrides legal inquiry. It is a forum where difficult questions are often unavoidable in determining what arrangement best serves the child
--

to affect parental stability, coping mechanisms, or the child’s welfare, opposing counsel is legally permitted to bring it into issue. This is not cruelty, it is litigation strategy within the bounds of evidentiary relevance.

The courtroom is not a space where emotional sensitivity overrides legal inquiry. It is a forum where difficult questions are often unavoidable in determining what arrangement best serves the child.

5. The “Best Interest of the Child” Standard Remains Supreme

Under Nigerian family law principles, custody decisions are guided by what arrangement most promotes the child’s welfare, stability, education, emotional development and safety.

This means the court asks:

Which parent can provide a more stable environment?
Who has historically played a more consistent caregiving role?
What arrangement best protects the child’s psychological wellbeing?
The dispute is therefore not about who is morally right or emotionally aggrieved. It is about what outcome serves the child’s long-term interests.

6. Why Emotional Narratives Often Clash with Legal Strategy

Clients understandably approach custody battles with strong emotional narratives. However, legal strategy requires detachment. A lawyer must analyze facts objectively, anticipate the opponent’s arguments, and prepare responses grounded in law rather than sentiment.

Where emotional expression dominates a party’s conduct, it may inadvertently undermine their legal position. Courts tend to favour measured, consistent, and child-focused behaviour over reactive or confrontational communication patterns.

7. Practical Lessons for Parents in Custody Disputes

Whether high-profile or private, the following principles apply to every custody case:

Avoid public commentary on ongoing disputes.
Follow legal advice strictly, especially regarding communication.
Document parenting involvement and financial responsibility.
Maintain a stable, child-focused environment at all times.
Prepare thoroughly for cross-examination and evidentiary scrutiny.
Custody litigation is not won through emotional appeal; it is won through demonstrable responsibility, stability, and consistency.

INCONCLUSION, The dispute between Davido and Sophia Momodu highlights a broader truth applicable to all custody matters. The law does not react to outrage, sympathy, or online narratives. It operates on evidence, relevance, and the welfare of the child.

This dispassionate nature of the law is not a flaw; it is a safeguard. By removing emotional bias, courts aim to reach decisions that prioritise the child’s future rather than the parents’ grievances.

For any parent facing a custody dispute, the most important preparation is not emotional validation but legal readiness. Careful guidance, disciplined communication, and strategic preparation for court proceedings often make the decisive difference in such cases.

Another thing is most people who have such jobs do not see the buy a brand new Benz even though they can afford it.
