Nigerian Military Denies Reports Of US Planes Dropping Arms In Borno, Kaduna by Pakute(op): 6:13pm On Feb 15
Senior Nigerian military officials have denied reports that United States aircraft recently dropped weapons and equipment in Borno and Kaduna states to support the Armed Forces in combating terrorism and insecurity.

The claims, which circulated widely on social media last week, cited a report by The New York Times suggesting that three US military planes landed in Nigeria between Thursday and Friday, with at least one offloading ammunition and other military equipment in Maiduguri, Borno State.

“These initial flights are the vanguard of what will be a stream of C-17 transport flights into three main locations across Nigeria,” a US Department of Defense official was quoted as saying.

However, when contacted for comment, senior sources at Defence Headquarters and the Army said they were unaware of any such deliveries. A source at the Army headquarters confirmed that no US aircraft landed in Kaduna or elsewhere last week.

From the theatre commands, another source clarified that the social media reports of arms being dropped in Borno were “fake and baseless.”

An airport official at Muhammadu Buhari International Airport, who spoke on condition of anonymity, explained that the aircraft that landed last Friday was a Max Air flight carrying Nigerian troops, not US planes.

The military also highlighted that, under ongoing bilateral agreements, Nigeria has received pledges for support from countries including the US, UK, and France. This includes intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR), and other combat enablers, separate from existing partnerships that have been ongoing for months.

The clarification comes amid heightened collaboration between Nigeria and the US on security, following which American forces reportedly launched operations against ISIS camps in Sokoto State on Christmas Day 2025.

Military authorities reaffirmed that efforts to combat terrorism and insecurity remain ongoing under coordinated strategies with international partners.

However, they stressed that reports of US aircraft dropping arms and equipment in Borno and Kaduna last week are inaccurate and unfounded.

Whenever they rush quickly to the media to debunk a rumour, know it's true.

President Donald Trump threatened "Gun a blazing" if the massacre of christians didn't stop and he's keeping to his words as always and there is nothing tinubu can do about it than to corporate.

Just like the coup rumours, they will confirm it months from now. It's better to maintain strategic silence than to outrightly deny, only to admit it at a later time. It erodes credibility in governance.

The news actually sounded fake.
No reliable source.

It's obvious it was fake news...

The US only sent 200 military personnel who are supposed to provide military training to Nigerian troops on counter insurgency and terrorism.

The US government has said it's troops is not going to engage in direct combat with terrorists on Nigerian territory but are there only to provide training so when I saw the plenty stories online I already knew it was fake news. Why would they be sending so much cargo planes with military equipments and facilities?

Most Nigerians have a closed mind and aren't discerning to fake information. They believe every propaganda they see online especially when it suits their myopic narratives.

That's why its easy for leaders to play on their fragile intelligence!

One thing Nigerians do not understand is that for the purpose of succes, miltary operations are always shrouded in secrecy. During WW2, the US spent millions of dollars to conceal the date and target of the D-Day landings in what was considered one of the greatest military deceptions in history. The UK invented the lies of super carrot that made pilot's vision exceptional to conceal the existence of airborne radar. Georgy Zhukov himself who crushed the Nazis on the Eastern front maintained a highly non predictable strategy, avoiding headon blows with Germans in the places where they expected them, and even choosing active defense when most analysts would believe he was going for a head on decisive offensive. Thats the secret to victor. Minutes before the invasion of Ukraine, Russia kept denying she had such plans in mind. Truth is EXCEPT YOU ARE FIGHTING WITH A CLEAR UNDERDOG WITH NO TYPE OF ADVANTAGE(GEOGRAPHIC, NUMERICAL ETC) YOU DONT LET HIM KNOW YOU ARE COMING FOR HIM! From all perspectives, its clear Nigeria is preparing for a massive anti terror campaign in the North east and maybe north west with US support. What do you think the soldiers Tinubu recruited were for? Sleeping in the barracks? Why do you think NAF has reduced strikes on terrorisst for a while now? Simply to hit intel effective until the D-Day, strikes now may lead the terrorists to reshuffle their command to blind the Nigerian intelligence. Nigerians be patient, something like Operation Inherent Resolve is coming soon. Analysts should stop parroting it and helping terrorists, they should shut up least they make the terrorists ready.
N.B: Ukraine's North east counteroffensive was a success while her south east counteroffensive was a catastrophic failure because the former was shrouded in secrecy even while it was raging while the latter was analyzed and parroted by western propagandists for months, so when they finally came the Ruskies gave them a warm welcome with Ka-52s, T-90s and Su-35s. Result? Overhyped NATO training and weapons were turned to piles of metal wreckage and roasted flesh.

What is Arabic letters doing in Nigeria Military Emblem when we have Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba?

So, as an Igboman, I can't explain to a foreign person what the Arabic words in my country's military emblem means because me too can't read Arabic?

Is this not absurd?

Can't the senate sponsor a bill to make the emblem all encompassing for the 3 major regions of Nigeria?

Who can tell us what it reads?
Because my mind is telling me another thing

It reads: NASRUN MINALLAH

Which literally means: The help is (or comes) from Allah

But this time around, the help, ironically, comes from Donald Trump.
