FIFA Rules On Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup Petition Against DR Congo Tomorrow by Racoon(op): 3:46pm On Feb 15
FIFA is set to deliver a crucial ruling on Monday, February 16, regarding Nigeria’s eligibility protest against DR Congo, with the Super Eagles’ hopes of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup hanging in the balance.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) filed the formal complaint on December 15, 2025, alleging that six DR Congo players who featured in the November 2025 African playoff final were ineligible due to recent switches in international allegiance.

The match ended in heartbreak for Nigeria, as the Super Eagles lost 4–3 on penalties after a tense encounter, eliminating them from direct qualification and ending their campaign at that stage.

NFF General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi has voiced strong confidence in the federation’s case. “We have a good case. We do not venture into what would be an exercise in futility. As far as we are concerned, we have a strong case, and we are awaiting FIFA’s decision on the complaints we have lodged.”

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi echoed the optimism, telling reporters: “We are still waiting; hopefully, we can go to the World Cup.”

Should FIFA rule in Nigeria’s favour, the Super Eagles would be reinstated and advance to the six-team Intercontinental Play-Off tournament scheduled for March in Mexico. A top finish in that playoff would secure one of the remaining African slots at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Nigeria’s qualification hopes now rest entirely on the outcome of Monday’s high-stakes FIFA meeting, with millions of fans and the entire Nigerian football community awaiting the verdict that could rewrite the Super Eagles’ World Cup story.

Nigeria may have a chance but the impact @the world cup proper may be shaky. God help our cause.

For those lamenting that "Nigeria does not deserve to be at the World Cup"...

Rules are Rules, & if you are judged to have violated a rule & consequently disqualified, & your slot given to another team, that's perfectly in order. No wayo inside.

&if the tables were to turn, Congo or any other country would have done exactly same against Nigeria.

So, any Country that LEGITIMATELY qualified without violating any rules of the game, deserves to be at the World Cup.

DR Congo will definitely make it and they'll make a positive impact in the world cup than Nigeria.
Moreover I think the ruling should have initially favoured Cameroon and Not Nigeria

It will be really funny of FIFA rules in favor of Nigeria and the Super Eagles still end up not qualifying.

Nigeria should have some dignity and forfeit any case.

Nigeria too like to embarrass themselves, when they could have put in seriousness to qualify for the world cup, they were busy loosing and drawing with unknown countries

Even if the judgment favours them, they will go there and be scared of teams just as they did against Morocco....

What do you mean by legally? Did Congo qualify legally?
Re: FIFA Rules On Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup Petition Against DR Congo Tomorrow by BENEAMATA: 7:25pm On Feb 15
Who said Nigeria wants to cheat the better team that won.? You mean the better cheats that qualified by not playing by the rules ? And a country of about 200 million people will fold her arms so that the football administrators running our game's affairs should let it slide while another country cheat us out of our right . And some of those Nigerians telling us we are using backdoor are Chelsea fans who are enraged the most when Refs blatantly rob their club like against Leeds utd .

Worst case scenario, Dr congo will be fined. Let's forget 2026 wc and start preparing for the next one.

What do you mean so fast...are they supposed to wait further knowing the playoff for all the remaining countries including the European countries is less than a month away? Both Nigeria and DR Congo needs to know their faith and be prepare for the pñayoff tournament.

Thank God it's not one that will be ruling on the matter.. thank God it's not also nigerian judiciary.... nonsense and ingredients... nigeria should just relax I stead of looking for ways to go to the world cup through the window.

Utter rubbish

It's tomorrow we'll all know how corrupt FIFA is. Nigeria through the NFF has bribed DR Congo out of the way. The outcome will be shocking.
