They're all overhyped rubbish designed to fool everyone while new billionaires are created from the hype.

The pyramid schemes of the tech oligarchy is cyclical: every decade they create a new tech bubble that leads to nowhere but instead attracts foolish investors, creating billionaires overnight with no real wealth besides their stock options on paper resting on that bubble.

So far we've had the following bubbles:

-dotcom
-blockchain
-3D TVs
-VR/AR/MR/XR
-autonomous cars and humanoid robots
-AI

All have crashed and will crash.... meanwhile, humanity is no different from before.
What the f**k?!

Who are you with this brilliant and wise deduction of yours?

If we were meeting one on one, this would have been the perfect time to ask you for a collaboration.

But then, please be quiet about this revelation of yours. Billionaires are only made when you have clueless sheep.

ChatGPT is more ethical and has more moral than Grok. Maybe it’s because GROK depends on twitter.

bro, it's just a cycle, there is nothing we can do about it, people will still invest.

how about SpaceX?
SpaceX is indeed filling a need by NASA and the US Pentagon, only because NASA was severely defunded and crippled mostly due to politics and the high US deficit....there really isn't much returns in investment for expensive space exploration besides knowledge.

SpaceX has a problem of repeat customers. They need a regular launch cadence to become profitable, and since most of their launch outside Starlink is government contract mostly for crew change and supply runs for the international space station, that cadence is far and few between. And when the ISS is demised in 2030, there's no guarantee of an immediate successor.

So SpaceX is in a bind and must find other business models besides Starlink to maintain any semblance of commercial viability, especially with potential competition like Amazon New Glenn and LEO projects, and China and Europe preparing their own reusable rockets and space-based Internet services. Just like with Tesla, SpaceX will eventually lose that first mover advantage.

Any wonder Musk sold his failing businesses (xAI and X) to SpaceX and is going public with the company? He's bailing out while he can.

So grok isn't popular here? Interesting observation
Grok has the baggage of being controlled and subservient to Elon Musk's whims and beliefs. No one finds its reasoning and sources objectively reliable

None of the AIs know! They assume based on based on all available behavioral evidence and community consensus!

Copilot did well on this though.

IronCondemned:
No. You don't get it. Though AI makes mistakes but limited. For you to get the best from AI you must learn how to prompt it.

The next decades will see something else in Artificial Intelligence way far Intelligence than humans. AI will be building this Advance AI, just like human bearing humans and finer ones than their ancestors.
Except it won't happen.

Scaling is the problem.

They're hitting physical limits on semiconductor sizes so efficiency won't scale as fast as demand. Thus, more data centers are needed and there's an energy crisis on earth.

If you invest $100m every month on data centers alone (forget talent) you'll need that same amount back to break even. Where's the commercial potential for LLMs? Or generative AI? People already are getting fed up with AI slop, and LLMs still hallucinate with confidence.

And what happens when all the knowledge in the world has been used to train these models? Because they reason on existing knowledge, they can't create new research on their own. It's still humans who need to break barriers and expand the frontier of knowledge in order to train these models.

Convoluted neural networks and the Transformers are limited by design, energy, talent, and the body of knowledge.

This is not a long-term commercially viable prospect.

Your head get better oil wey dey run am.

Unfortunately, I am an investor, albeit on a very very tiny level, and I fall into the category of the "evil" guys deliberately creating products (bubbles) for the marketplace (sheep).

You're not the problem, you're just part of the machine that keeps the pyramid scheme going for as long as it has steam. You'll either get richer, or you'll eventually be burned... that's always the inevitable end of pyramid schemes (see: Bitcoin).

So enjoy your investment and be pretty smart about it. Sell when it rises, and buy the dip with some (not all) of your proceeds for the next "correction".

I should also add that SpaceX has a payload problem 😂

Getting mass into space requires more mass (fuel), and thus more money, and thus more cost.

The bubbles are like the elusive power-generator that never burns out. Like with hydrogen or water or colliding atoms.

Any rational physicist knows It can never work because it defies the very laws of physics, and they never bother to solve it.

But then, investors will package it as an "out of this world" invention, put a big bow on it, give it a beautiful brand name, market it with a romantic dream and everyone believes it. Till the bubble bursts anyway.

But then, to every investor, "There's a sucker (sheep) born every minute".

Ohhhh. I never buy someone else's creation.

I create what others buy or get involved at the infancy stages and I walk away when the hype becomes too high.

Try creating your own site, with the innovations you intend to bring to the table. I want to see how far it will last.

CallmeTrinity:
Find traffic by force. It's over. The glory days are behind, just accept it and move on undecided
This is what happens when one fails to innovative and move with the items.

Most gen-z I ask don't know what nairaland is..they would rather spend time on tiktalk and other platforms . Their don't send here.
Those who made here famous are now parents and grown up.
we now get our news from cnn and the likes, we don't care about this site any more .

The end is nearing

If i can profit off a bubble I'd definitely fall for it, before the last sucker is burned. Problem is, I don't know if I'm the last sucker.

I have been having these same thoughts.

Would it not be appropriate for this site to either target its old fan base with its articles or totally become Gen Z and go colored with videos?

I noticed that most of the comments are obviously from very young and inexperienced-in-life people and they are not more than 60 people continually commenting on every page.

Wish I could be on the Board and consult for them for free. It's painful seeing a national treasure slowly fading away.

It is well, I guess.
I joined nairaland around 20 years ago.

I watched it birthed, struggled to walk, nurtured, grow, and suffer parental abuse by an indifferent father, and now I'm watching it in its final death throes, its decrepitude visible in the bony and sinewy body struggling to stand like the undead; a pupating insect trapped in its petrified cocoon, unable to slither into a world constantly in flux.

Legends like Gamine, DarkManZero, Logica, hayprof, naijafan, Texazzpete, iice...gone, leaving resounding echoes of times long gone in this hollow cavern of banality.

We, the old guard, observe and record an unfortunate generation of dimwitted, entitled, ruinous, mediocre, lethargic, and lecherous cretins further erode the former magnificence of this ancient citadel, counting every dust mote slowly falling upon the rubble of this sterile derelict.

Nairaland is the festering corpse of a mythic creature that refuses to die long past its useful days.

Yikes. I just read this.

I started laughing when I started reading and it went dark almost immediately.

I heard and felt your pain, for what has happened and the fact that you are merely an onlooker in a tragedy that's destined to happen.

Hmmmm.

I don't even have any comment I can add. I am just dumbfounded by your assessment.

Again, hmmmm.
