How does rent go down when since January 2026 cost of 1 bag of cement has gone up from 10k to 11k due to the same tax.
How do you defend one thing while in reality the evidence is clearly different

We know.

But if I know you will deduct 25 percent from my gross sales, I as the seller may decide to top up the recommended retail price by 25% pass it on to the buyer.
CIT was 30% before the tax reforms. Now it's 25%. Yet you think this is the right time to complain? Really! You didn't complain when it was 30% but at 25%, it's affecting the price of goods! Something is really wrong with this picture huh

Don't blame Ameachi bcoz that's how far his understanding and brain can comprehend the Tax Reform Act.

He doesn't know more than that.

We may believe Amaechi because this government cannot be trusted due to their numerous lies.
Can't you read it by yourself?

Amaechi didn't say there was 25% tax on building materials rather he said, the tax on rent would cause increase in other things like building materials and he was right. He spoke about CIT tax and he was correct too about the 25%.

Because sellers of cement has recently attributed the tax policies as the main reason why they increase their cements price.

The people we shouldn't listen to is the Federal govt for lying to the people.

Tax effects is what many Nigerians would suffer from.
You nailed something up here

Inflation is inflation.
That's the last thing manufacturers, retailers and consumers need right now.

As long as you have agents and agency being unchecked by the government... Rents are not going down any time soon.

I really don’t think Amaechi is wrong. He might have loosely used the term “building materials “ but rental income of N100m attracts 25% tax under the new tax Act (compared to WHT of 10% under previous tax regime). Unfortunately, landlords find a way to transfer these tax burdens to tenants, hence resulting in increased rental costs.

Instead of this cost inducing provision of the Act, the governments need to find ways of reducing this burden through less burdensome tax regulations for instance.

How do we believe you when from your records you have done things to make the life of citizens harder?

You took away subsidy in electricity, you too away subsidy in Education and raised school fees up to 500% and gave student loan bondages?

You increased house rent and cost of food for common man.

Upon the removal of electricity subsidy, which made electricity costlier than UK's, there is still no light in households and some places in Nigeria, even after you promised us it will be done in 4 years.

The wife of the president is going around denying Christian genocide even when there is evidence

So we believe*Amaechi* more than you FG

The practical question to ask is " ARE RENTS GOING UP OR DOWN" ? The answer explains the reality on ground, not all these long grammar in paper.
And how has amaechi in any way helped reduce property rates with his lies under this circumstance? Isn't he further escalating the problem?

Government should publish a simple, clear summary of the tax law instead of reacting after panic spreads.

My question is why will an half fed man complain more than a full starved man?
When CIT was 30%, we did not hear pim! Now it's 25% and not only that inflation has come down drastically. Yet to you guys, the world is coming to an end

You should try to take some lessons in economics before asking questions. Inflation is not about the cost of a commodity but the increasing variation in price over a specific period. Price of commodities have been stable for a long time now.

Rents have always been soaring high even before the new tax law came into being.
