Is it that the locally fabricated grinding machines don't grind the food grains properly or they introduce certain harmful chemicals present in only locally fabricated grinding machines into the foods during the grinding process? They need to provide more details to enable Nigerians know how to prevent it

Locally fabricated machines? What kind of brain dead assertion is this? How did they come up with this finding? What alternative have they come up with if we are to believe them? This is pure nonsense.

I checked the organisation's website. They've not bothered to update it since May 2025. This is not a serious agency. Maybe their oga has gone and downloaded very hot amala and gbegiri which caused him to have a very intense session with the toilet and that's how he came up with this rubbish.

The widespread availability of ultra processed foods is to be blamed. Our local food here in Nigeria for the most part is still very natural.

They rarely wash the inside of those machine grinders. Lots of bacteria pill up there

While mortar and pestle is washed immediately after use.

FIIRO should produce food grade materials for food processing. This statement alone will put a lot of market women out of business.

Food grade materials need to be used to replace the metals used in the machined.

Is it today that people have been eating food made with local grinders? I see this as a distraction from a major issue we should all tackle, which is fake foods, drinks and drugs which are growing in circulation.

In fact most people now grind at home with blenders. Almost every Nigerian home has a blender, so why is organ failure now rising when people patronize local grinders less? Abeg na fake drinks and drugs make we tackle!

i have always suspected these local grinders

paint job and coatings inside the grinding funnel washes into the food being ground

same as other materials like grease

There are some food items that using Mortar & Pestle serve as substitute.
Eg tomatoes & Moi-Moi beans.
