This is an entirely separate offense.

So, he needs to tell the DSS how he, as an individual and a non-state actor, could perform this feat.

He would have to explain in detail whether he operated alone or in company of others.

Most Nigerians don't know the magnitude of the offenses hanging on El-Rufai's neck.

People use voice recorders to record phone calls and suddenly everyone calls it wiretapping.

Not only is wiretapping an oxymoron for wireless communication, but the ignorance from the populace, government and so-called professionals about how GSM calls are encrypted end-to-end means Nigeria is doomed.

Extremely sophisticated equipment are needed to decrypt conversations in real-time. Equipment even the government does not have talk more of a mere civilian.

Even Peter Obi's infamous call was recorded on one end of the conversation. My phone can automatically record all calls or from selected contacts without any telltale signs to warn the other party (unlike phones from China which announce the act), and this capability is baked into the firmware from the factory. All i need to do is turn it on, select who to record, and the conversation is automatically recorded.

Some people send incriminatory Whatsapp voice notes which are permanent records and easily shareable, yet they fret about snooping.

If you're on a voice call, don't be scared of "wiretapping"; be wary of the other party's integrity, and what you say, on the assumption that you're being recorded.

1st, To prove Nsa phone was tapped requires the phone "data log" to reflect a time/date in the past .. By doing so Nsa ribadu will have to tender is phone which leaves him more vulnerable

This is inconsequential to the issue here. We all know the skill set requirements to tapping a phone.
The NSA had the resources to manufacture an evidence in their favour. And since Elrufai didn't say anything about the time and which phone was hacked, yes they can present any hacked phone in court.

No, you are wrong here sir. The office of NSA is a very sensitive one. When it comes to national security, rule of law can take a back seat. The case Edward Snowden came to mind. You might want to read up the story.

And yes, tapping the phone of a national security adviser is a huge national security risk. It can expose super sensitive info like military plans, diplomatic strategies, and intelligence sources. If that info gets out, it could mess with national defense, international relations, and even put lives in danger. Plus, it can create serious trust issues inside the government.

You know we're funny people in this country.

People have attached emotions and hatred to the issue forgetting that this is one of the reasons insecurity remains with us.

It means that all the conversations of Ribadu and the US security team all these days were being listened to by El Rufai and his people.

This is dangerous to our security architecture but some aren't seeing it. Obviously El Rufai has been listening to the conversations of the Service Chiefs, IG, DSS, NIA, EFCC, and INEC chairman conversations.

If El Rufai could achieve this with whatever device, he has the capacity to hack INEC servers on election day.

I don't blame those who call El Rufai a boko haram member.

I have said this before privately and will say it now publicly--The Federal Government through the ONSA needs to reassert its exclusivity over surveillance and counter surveillance nationwide. All vendors in this sphere has to be dully licensed, all sales registered and a reporting of all and every single instance of use reported on an ongoing/quarterly basis.

Nigeria was one of the biggest markets for Circles Spyware and other such tools and technologies between 2007 and 2019. Some governors reportedly had had multiple vendors providing them access to such tools. I guess some of them procured a lifetime access and never handed it over to their successors. If they can take away mattresses and pillows from the governor's mansion, why would they relinquish access to a such a powerful tool.

The ONSA needs to conduct a full audit and determine who bought and still has access to these tools asap.
