However, in order to unravel the identity of the fraudster, then I reached out to the receiving bank and also to my bank for the account to be linked, after that, both of the banks advised me if I want to know who the fraudster is, I should make a formal entry at the police station since banks don't release the information of their customers to the third party. But, the police through the court order can produce who the criminal is

After harking to the piece of the advice, I went to the police station (Elelenwo station, picture below) and made an entry, then the IPO assured me that the fraudster will be apprehended, that this is a simple case, that there's an officer (a tracker) who specialises in handling such cases, so he linked me up with the so-called tracking officer (name below) then the so-called tracking officer booked an appointment with me. After asking of my bank details, he logged on to Google and brought out a certain phone number and claimed that this was the number which was used to defraud me, so to know who the culprit is, it will cost me: 15k (cash) for entry, plus 30k for mobilisation of officers, plus another 15k for a job well done. Without further ado, I made the payment

Do you know one funny thing? The so-called tracking officer didn't know that I am also an experienced car/vehicle tracker (I track vehicles for companies) anytime I asked for an update the fraudster in uniform would googled an image and sent it to me, not knowing that he is dealing with an expert, he would also be telling me cock and bull story blah blah blah blah

After all the drama, this year I decided to escalate the matter at the station, guess what, the police sided with their colleague. When I proved to them that I am also a tracker and their colleague is nothing but a fraudster and I threatened to take legal action against the fraudster in uniform, then all of them washed their hands off the case

What surprised me the most was when a female sergeant said that one day then go catch that thief wei thief your money don't worry, because then say 99days are for the thief and one day is for the owner God dey, then I asked her, is that what they taught you at the police training school during recruitment? That a criminal should commit havoc to the society 99times before we use prayer to apprehend him/her? What a shame

Once a friend ask me to send money to a different account that is not bearing his/her name na red flag that will lead me to call to ascertain that truly I’m dealing with the right person.

I’ve used this method to outsmart hackers of both fb and WhatsApp. This kind cheap scam and others can’t work on me .

Lol! Nigeria's a joke. Similar happened to me, had my phone stolen went to the station to track it and then police stole theirs as well by defrauding me 40k to get the phone. They are just thieves on uniform.

After collecting all that from you, if it was actually something that they can really be of help, they'll still expect you to share the money recovered with them such that at the end they would have gotten more share of he recovery better than you.

In 2017 I had a messed up land purchase that saw me look at my 350k going down the drains. The land I paid for was in dispute and the village chief sided with the other contenders. The guys who sold the land showed me different replacement lands but I didn't like them (some didn't even have access). The agent who was so pained that the sellers didn't give him a cut from their end as originally agreed was pushing me to take the case to the police. I already know that land issue is mainly a civil matter and secondly I didn't even have that much time. But another concern was that even if I could recover the money, I'll likely loose half of it to the police for helping me recover it. I just forgot about the whole thing, but the Agent keep pestering them and threatening them. As God would have it, I was called year before last to come for settlement and that is how I received 500k for the 350k I had paid. The 500k is not exactly worth the real value at the time but it was far better than nothing on money I'd completely written off. I was happy I didn't waste my time and money with the police.
